If OBJ knew that this customized "War Against Corruption" was going to be the opening of a deadly can of worms, he wouldn't have implemented EFCC and used this organization as a political vindictive weapon. So far or lately, this implementation seems to be unbearably ricocheting from many angles. Day after day, the political angels and the saints (closet thieves) are emerging from every angle all over the country. Looking at the way things are erupting systematically, I guess it is clearly a shame, but it isn't bad for Nigeria as a nation. |
FYI: If we start probing past leaders hastily IBB will be in jail before OBJ.and so what? |
I agree I benefited from the looters on the state level. Does not stop me from saying what is real. It is obvious you benefited from those on the federal level. So let us continue to play the game with this caricature of an EFCC.You continue to stick me with dry wood from time to time and just because of my respect for ladies in general, I continue to ignore your senseless statements. Please and please do not speak for me. Your despicable statement is absolutely inaccurate and unnecessary. May be you should be a target for Mckren and his crew. Have some self respect and behave yourself! |
So Ribadu will not imprison OBJ to please some public sentiments, their must be evidence. Telling us that his farm has transformed over the years is not evidence, neither does telling us that he was Petroleum minister for 8years evidence.A totall despicable and unintelligent statement; the kind that will come out of MAMAJAMA's mouth. I still find it extremely difficult to discover that the statement was posted by Mckren. I guess, it is true to never count people out! |

Telling us that his farm has transformed over the years is not evidence, neither does telling us that he was Petroleum minister for 8years evidence.@Mckren This statement of yours also shows which side you belong. Your intention continues to be clearer and brighter each and everyday. I guess, it is true that it cost nothing to always settle for nothing! |
Selectivity judgement is illegal and absolutely unacceptable under every circumstance. The Bible and Qurʾan are also totally against it. Selectivity judgement will only create more unwanted obstacles and disunify the nation. |
@Mckren You should address the gibberish you've just posted. If my state governor out of fear of being "selectively" mistreated by EFCC provides good roads, schools etc from the point of view of my state I will care less if any other governor in Nigeria is not being watchedStop this running around game and leave IBB's balls alone for a change. One could also map out from your gibberish ever since you came to Nairaland, that you know nothing about real solutions. You only worship short cuts, the samething that has continuously produced big Zero at the end of the day. FYI: EFCC still represents a total blessing for these governors. This is what they want, they clearly know that they remain free as long as defective EFCC continues to exist in Nigeria. There are too many holes, too many obstacles created by EFCC, for any one to be effectively prosecuted for corruption in Nigeria. I guess, you will realize this fact in 50 years! |
@Mckren I'm not sure where you're going with this, but something is for sure: "You can not compare a SHIP to a wooden canoe" It just doesn't measure up! |
If my state governor out of fear of being "selectively" mistreated by EFCC provides good roads, schools etc from the point of view of my state I will care less if any other governor in Nigeria is not being watched. This is absolutely rubbish. This is a nation we are talking about, not a market place Is this how to effectively and efficiently move a nation forward (leaders producing only because of the fear of being selectively picked up by EFCC)? And who is watching the EFCC? Absolutely poppycock, Mckren! This is not how to operate; we need leaders who are fearless or have nothing to be fear of. Instead of unrealistic short cut strategies or settling for absolutely unwanted rubbish, we need to polish up our mentality and raise up our expectation. Leadership or leading in general is not by force or by choice. |
Capacity or ability to lead is not by choice and leadership role is conclusively not for everyone. Leadership is constituted by nature and can never be taught. Moreover, you can not compare military regime, which is exemplified in concrete protocols, to democratic era; there is absolutely no comparison between the two. |
I’m not in battle of supremacy with anyone, says Babangida Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, says that contrary to a media report, he is not in battle of supremacy with ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo on the choice of the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement signed on his behalf by Prince Kassim Afegbua, his adviser on media, Babangida said he does not believe in the imposition of candidate, but in due process and therefore has no need to be in any battle for the emergence of a particular candidate. He said that what the country needs at present was the strengthening and depening of democratic structures and the adherence to due process. According to him, he prefers an electoral process that “provides a platform for people’s will to prevail through free choice and credible election,” believing that this “would ordinarily enthrone genuine leaderships that are truly representative of the people in whatever capacity different from those that are imposed for personal aggrandizement.” The statement by Babangida reads: “The attention of His Excellency, General Ibrahim Babangida has been drawn to a news report entitled: Obasanjo, IBB Battle for the Soul of PDP. To state the obvious, the report is not only the imagination of the reporter but a miscarriage of journalistic license. Fact is, His Excellency, General Ibrahim Babangida is neither in any cold relationship nor ‘battle of supremacy’ with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as the report would have the unsuspecting public believe. “At this critical time in our nation’s democratic process, genuine patriots, lovers of democracy, elder statesmen, opinion leaders and stakeholders should primarily concern themselves with the task of strengthening and deepening democratic structures by adhering to the dictates of due process and rule of law. Such language of conquest that tends to polarize the polity and political participation along the lines of personality contest should be discouraged in all its totality, to provide a level-playing field for all participants in the electoral contest, be it at the party level or general elections. “It is even premature for any one to insinuate that General Babangida is harbouring an intention to hijack the structures of the party to ventilate his ambition for 2007 when the processes of the 2007 general elections are still inconclusive. As at date, there is a President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua. It should be the primary responsibility of anyone who wishes Nigeria well to pray for the sustenance of democracy and the present elected executives at the various levels while also not prejudicing those who are at the tribunals. “His Excellency, General Babangida is not in the league of those who hijack party structures through imposition of candidates, but is more attuned to a process that helps in nurturing party structures through due process and credible election in line with the collective wishes and aspirations of the people. A democracy that provides a platform for people’s will to prevail through free choice and credible election would ordinarily enthrone genuine leaderships that are truly representative of the people in whatever capacity different from those that are imposed for personal aggrandizement. In this jet age of democratic renaissance, anyone who still believes in the old canard of imposing leadership on the people has no business in our renewed effort at democratic consolidation. In fact, such people should be watched closely. http://www.ngex.com/cgi-bin/frame/frameit2.plx?link="http://www.sunnewsonline.com/" |

The scam victims are seen as the heroes; no one is paying attention to their shady intentions. I think they deserve to be prosecuted just like the scammer |
Have you noticed that the same ATIKU they wanted to nail badly few months ago (while he was still the VP and still protected), is now walking around the country freely. The question is: Atiku is no longer the VP, how come he's still walking around freely after being painted as a criminal and vigorously harassed by EFCC just few months ago? Was the EFCC working for Nigeria or OBJ? |
Disengaging the root is always the best way to solve a problem. You can not continue to cut off the leaves and expect the timber tree to die. EFCC needs to wake up and stop fooling themselves. |
It is either you come correct or you get deported. I don't settle and I will never worship half job well done. There is no room for second place in my neighbourhood! |
I will rather deal with no obstruction than selectivity and vindictive operations. You feel more comfortable and prepared if you know that you have no security guard in your neighbourhood than dealing with having a security guard that only confronts 1.1% of the thieves (his enemies) and allows his friends (other thieves) to rub your house from time to time. It is purely senseless! |
Ghanaian president survives auto crash According to Reuters news agency, witnesses said they saw a vehicle crash into his car, causing it to roll over several times. When it halted, Kuffuor emerged holding his head. A presidential spokesman said he seemed fine but was undergoing medical tests. The driver of the other car is being treated in hospital and police have reportedly begun an investigation. Kuffuor appeared healthy and composed but was undergoing medical checks in the presidential palace to ensure he was not at risk, presidential press secretary, Andy Awuni said. Witnesses told Reuters news agency that a red car coming from the opposite direction had struck the president’s vehicle at a major intersection near Kotoka airport in Accra. “The car finally rested on the sidewalk and the people around helped his security men to pull him out,” an electrician, James Kobinah said. “The president came out holding his head.” Kufuor was elected president in 2000, in a poll which marked the first peaceful, democratic transfer of power in Ghana since independence. He had succeeded long-time ruler, Ft Lt. Jerry Rawlings (rtd). Known as the “Gentle Giant” of Ghanaian politics, he won a second term in 2004, in an election praised for being well run and orderly. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200711151331726 |
EFCC E: Excessive F: Failure C: Conation C: Concept I do not expect much from this despicable organization; please do not waste your time, they are absolutely visionless. |
OBJ is gradually being pushed away from this new administration; Guys, pay attention, there is a new strategy of operation. Things will get better very very soon. |
Ehindero should also be arrested for encouraging this monster to terrorize the entire city (Ibadan) |
Folks like EHINDERO empowered this stupidity in Ibadan. Adedibu should have been gone many many months ago. The man (Ehindero) is a shameful worthless leader wannabe. Okiro has accomplished more in just few months, compare to Ehindero's 30years regime. |
Here comes the down fall of OBJ. Hopefully Bola Ige's killer will be revealed shortly |
If this was done 2 years ago by worthless Ehindero, things would have been better in Ibadan by now. But of course what Ehindero wanted to eat also blindfolded the fool. Leadership role is absolutely not for everybody. |
EFCC is the greatest obstacle of corruption of all time. |
Few days ago, I got a chance to watch President Bush on one channel and prime minister Gordon Brown on another channel simultaneously during a routine speech. It was unbelievable. Bush looked pathetic, uncomfortable and almost made me believe that English was his second language. The man just doesn't fit a presidential position. Absolutely doesn't have what it takes (physically or mentally). I still can not believe how he got this job. The man is not even capable of effectively managing a one entrance Groceries store. You've got to be a total Dumbo if you feel otherwise. Mr Brown, on the other hand looked very polished, full of energy and material, focused, great eye contact and a great communicator. I do not know much about this man, but I truly admire what I've seen so far. I think he's going to perform very well. You have to be severely retarded to think Bush is not a nightmare under every single circumstance. |
Very deep. Great job guys! Afam, you continue to show your true originality on a regular; I admire your honesty, boldness and vigorous struggle to see Nigeria, our sweet nation back at the top. This is an incredible topic! |
@Iyke-D: Say hello to my little friend (mckren) |
Simmer down guys, I can assure you that IBB has no interest in running for 2011 presidential election. But at the same time he's vigorously battling for the soul of PDP; Have you guys thought of this latest development between OBJ and IBB as being designed by Yar'Adua to finally detach himself from OBJ or to detach OBJ from the new admin? Open your mind and think; you can not continue to jump because they say so. There is much more to this development. Trust me, IBB will not run for the 2011 presidential election, at this point of his life he's completely appease with him self. There is a unique reason for his latest action with PDP, and when the time is right it will all be revealed by the Federal Government new strategies of operation. No need to waste your time and energy; just chill and watch! |
Obasanjo, IBB battle for the soul of PDP The cold relationship between former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and immediate past president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, may have shifted to the National Convention of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as both appear set for a fierce battle. The convention, which has been shifted from December 8, 2007 to January 5, next year, as a result of a procedural error, has seen the party divided into Obasanjo and Babangida camps with each supporting different candidates for the office of the national chairman of the party. PDP sources informed THISDAY that the convention, which has been described as a “battle of supremacy” between Obasanjo and Babangida, is aimed at controlling the party ahead of 2011 presidential election. According to sources who spoke with THISDAY, Obasanjo’s camp has given its support behind the former governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Sam Egwu, for the national chairmanship, while Babangida has tacitly anointed former Senate President, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, though some of Babangida’s allies are still in the race. THISDAY gathered that the Obasanjo camp is counting on the support of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to checkmate Babangida, who is still believed to be harbouring a presidential ambition, presumably in the event that Yar’Adua does not go for a second term in 2011. Babangida’s support for Anyim is believed to be his first step in seizing control of the PDP machinery. Some former governors, who also eyed PDP’s presidential ticket along with Babangida last year but were schemed out at the convention, are believed to be teaming up against Obasanjo, although they will not be delegates to the January convention. However, many PDP governors and some All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) governors, even though of the opposition party, are said to have sympathy for Obasanjo. Obasanjo’s support for the candidatures of Senator David Mark and Mrs Patricia Etteh as Senate President and House Speaker respectively had sailed through in the National Assembly leadership elections last June, but there is now a move to “checkmate” Obasanjo’s further influence. While Babangida is said to be positioning Anyim to emerge as the national chairman in order to gain control of the party, Obasanjo is said to be aiming to remain relevant in the scheme of things on the political terrain. However, it was gathered that Babangida was not originally “very keen” on Anyim. This is because of Anyim’s about-turn against those who supported him to be Senate President in 2001. But the unlikelihood of the acceptance of Chief Ken Nnamani, immediate past Senate President, owing to intra-zonal political balancing, may have worked in favour of Anyim in Babangida’s reckoning. Nnamani, like the current Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, is from Enugu State, while Anyim is from Ebonyi State. The South-east caucus is trying to narrow the choice to only Imo and Ebonyi States. Obasanjo is also battling to remain the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party – a position that only him can occupy going by the party’s constitution. An amendment, which was effected last December, reserves the position for a former president elected on the platform of PDP. It is believed that the anti-Obasanjo group is trying to move for his removal from the position. The exit of Etteh as Speaker and the emergence of Hon. Dimeji Bankole as her replacement are both seen as steps towards the ouster of Obasanjo from the position. Bankole is from Abeokuta, same as Obasanjo, and it is expected that the issue will be raised at the convention that the Speaker and the Chairman of BOT should not come from the same place. Meanwhile, after a crucial National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, the party yesterday reversed itself on the resignation date of all members of the executive committees of the party at all levels. They are now to be in office till January. By the directives of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party on September 13, 2007, all members of the NWC, State Executive Committees (SEC) and the Local Governments and Wards committees are expected to have filed letters of resignation 60 days to the respective executive committees election. The NWC headed by Ali had filed their letters of resignation by October 8 and were therefore expected to leave office by December 8, while members of the SECs were expected to have resigned by November 16, having filed their notice of resignation by September 16. The new development was consequent upon the letter from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which nullified all congresses and national convention of the party for lack of due process. Twenty-one days notice ought to have given by PDP to the commission before the commencement of the congresses and national convention. Addressing newsmen after its NWC meeting, the National Secretary, Chief Bernard Eze, said “all executive committee members at all levels including the NWC will continue to stay in office until further notice.” He also announced that the NEC of the party would meet on November 23 to consider the proposed new dates of December 4 for ward congresses elections, December 8 for local government elections, December 16 for the State Congresses elections, December 19 for zonal congresses and January 5, 2008 for the National Convention. Eze said that the new dates for the convention and congresses were picked to accommodate the 21 days notice demanded by the Electoral Act. In a mild drama, INEC has said Eze is not known to it. But in a quick reaction, the PDP has written to INEC to introduce Eze as the authentic National Secretary. He had just been picked to replace Chief Ojo Maduekwe who is now a minister. Also, INEC has said unless PDP discloses the venues and times of its planned congresses and national convention, it will not recognise the congresses starting on December 8. PDP, in a letter signed by the National Chairman, has complied and listed the dates and venues of the national convention and all the congresses. In the new letter dated November 12 and made available to THISDAY, Ali also included the PDP guidelines for the convention and congresses. Eze said the NWC had re-admitted the Governor of Rivers State, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to the party. He said that this was as a result of pleas from members of the party from the state. However, he said that the governor’s re-admittance into the party was still subject to ratification by the NEC of the party which will meet on November 23. Amaechi had been expelled in March for resorting to legal action after he was substituted as the party’s governorship candidate in Rivers State. He was declared the authentic candidate of the PDP in the election by the Supreme Court last month and has since been sworn in as governor. http://odili.net/news/source/2007/nov/13/216.html |
