Ajiareg, Since u asked for TP, I take it you can input them in ur decoder when u get them and thats why I have attached the KU band frequency chart for intelsat 7/10 where MYTV is coming from. I got it from lyngsat I have edited the chart from the way it normally appear on lyngsat to make sure u understand it better. The first column has the TP frequency (TP) and symbol rate (SR) of all the channels on the same field. I believe you ll understand the grouping. If u can input the TP and SR in ur decoder, i think you are good to go. Holla if u have questions. |
@ africode, which of the Hotbirds are u locked to? I really need to know maybe thats part of the catching up justx24 was referring to . |
im surprised that everyone seem to believe that OBALINE actually meant what he said. From where I am I believe he is just making fun of P.SQUARE. Like someone said, he shoulda posted it on jokes forum. |
good people of nairaland, I hail una back. |
@ bodejohn, baba a,dibu?!! Abeg oo. You are right about people not reading. Reading is the key, people. Not just forum posts, reading anything at all. |
@benziom, unless you love paying for everything, you can as well get yourself a new dish (90CM) and still use the same decoder to receive some channels from Eutelsatw4 (the same that transmits DSTV signal). Trend communications is currently transmitting channels like nollywood movies, foxnews, trendseries and others there. Its likely though they will encrypt it soon but theres always a new position for your dish. It wont waste. However, I advise you get 90cm rather than 60cm dish. People prefer 60cm dish without knowing that it has its own shortcomings. Rain is the most prominent for all KU signals but its worse with 60cm dish. Even darkness can have its own bad effect on a 60cm dish if the pointing is not sharp enough. |
I cannot believe my eyes when I returned to this thread. I never knew it would grow this long, 36 pages and counting! Naive me! Tot I was the only one who love TV. I really have to thank twinstaye, enigma etc for all the good work they have been doing with this thread. Dont know where to start apologizing for not coming back to my own thread for so long. Its just that I was very busy trying to be the man I am now. (Dont ask who I am now because its boring) The hobby of FTA is getting more interesting now as equipment prices are going down everyday. I laughed when I looked at the prices I gave for them at the begining of the thread. Everything has gone down. Now one can afford to buy as many dishes as they wish and face them wherever, thats if your landlord wont freak .I am back to this thread. |
If your cafe is well located, I mean in a good market, then all the good advise you have heard on this thread can apply. But please, dont let anyone scare you out of this business if you love it with passion. Cafe business is not an easy one though Im opening a new branch in another part of the town after being in the one I am for just three months. |
Haba, people. This question is a very simple one. It appears to me that many nairalanders are no longer treating nairaland as an open source forum that it is supposed to be anymore. Are all that advice on her marriage necessary? Some even needs to know about her sisters when he hasnt offered any help. @Leila, I might help. I' ve been cooking since my secondary school days. joachebe@gmail.com |
Somebody should locate this policeman and find out from him who detailed him to that China man. I wont blame the policeman at all. As you can see, thats a job he has to do. And its an 'order from above' @Horus, Those men in that picture are not Nigerian Policemen. Dont mislead anyone in here. |
Sad, But if they insist why cant the man come back to Nigeria after 7 years and see his mum instead. Or is there anything keeping him from coming back home? |
Fuuunnny!!! ![]() @yemivictor, you are embarrasing her still , the Liberian english usually arent well written but good to hear being spoken |
Malaza, If citizens of countries like US and others start killing other citizens of other nations for the crimes they commit in their country, what do u think the world will look like. foreigners killed Dube, they sell drugs, etc and so what? In which country do foreigners not commit crimes? why would it be such a big deal in south africa. Dont you get it? the point here is that your people should clean their own backyard first, before making noise about other foreigner's crimes. there was a time someone from Benin republic was the most wanted criminal in Nigeria beacuse his gang specialised in robbing big cars from Nigerians and taking them over to his country. We did not make noise about it. Many Nigerians did not even know about it. What our authorities did was make plans and catch him. He is no longer most wanted and nobody from Benin was killed because of it. A crime is a crime whether it is commited by a Foreigner or a citizen. The emphasis should be on how to stop it. why do I get this feeling that most South AFricans secretly supports the recent killings. |
When you asked that question, I took it that you have accepted what has been taking you so long to admit. That, in itself is a first step. Many South Africans need to take such bold step and accept that something is really wrong with the society. When that has been done, answers to your question will come on their own. Stop blaming foreigners first. Yes, they might be contributing but their contribution is not substantial. Here in Naija, we do have cross border bandits. But we dont blame armed robberies inland on our neighbours. Every nation goes with their own problems and the natural thing is to look for solutions and not blame outsiders. thats my input. |
RSA, There might not have been killings before the one the whole world saw. But its now obvious that something close to that has been happening and no one was doing something about it. Dont tell me that people just woke up one morning and started attacking foreigners. Your people have been hating visitors ever since. You confirmed it yourself RSA:Can you tell me how many foreigners are on trial today for rape and gruesome murder that occur daily in South Africa. Citing a single case of Zim robbers that happened 4 years ago is very unfair, Cash in transit heist is like a daily occurence in South Africa and policemen are killed. why can't your people just accept that something is really wrong with your society so that something will be done about it. Things get very bad when people don't accept it is happening in the first place and a good example is the story of HIV/AIDS in SA today worsened by His view on the connection between HIV and AIDS. The psyche of your people need a lot of touching. Apart from violent crimes, what about domestic violence on women and children. These are pressing issues too in SA. If you go blaming crimes on visitors, then you should get prepared for another killings (assuming your people don't really support it). RSA:If Hilbrow is unsafe, don't tell me your police either encourage crime or afraid of Naija guys since they will not go there to 'root out crime' thereby exposing people that go there to harm. |
105.5 Cosmo FM! Enugu is the station anyday. I think they have the widest reach in the country too. I was amazed that I can even get it from Keffi, Nasarawa State where I served. |
Malaza, We watch your news and programs. Dont compare it wit what Americans think about Africa because they don't even watch our TV. Most homes in Nigeria follows programs like Generations, Scandal, rythm city, 7de Laan and others more than some South Africans themselves, so we know a lot about your people. Dont tell me that it is the immigrants that commit crimes in your country. We see their profiles too. We just know too much about South Africa and we know its nothing to compare with Naija, crimewise. |
RSA, You might not know the number of your countrymen who are in Nigeria already. The reason is that they dont have to risk their lives to come in here. So they dont need to tell their stories. Also, we accomodate people easily. I wonder why you think that people immigrate more to your country. Here in Naija, we have too many of them from Chad, Niger, Benin and Camerooun. The difference remains that we dont stop them. They are our neighbours and brothers. We dont have names like 'kwere kwere' for them. They move about freely and undisturbed. Thats the naija spirit. I think Ghana has it too. |
its not about grammar now, its about the safety of your visitors, don't you even care about them. @ Malaza, safe for those who play safe? Is it not going to be better if people are given handouts at your airports and borders on how to play safe since one need to play safe in order to survive in your country. Naija has no go Area for oil workers and its just there in a few regions of Niger delta. But we all know that everywhere in SA is unsafe; Pretoria, Joburg, PE, Capetown, Durban just everywhere. I watch 3rd degree on ETV and other news from SABC and theres always a chilling news for every day. Lagos alone has about a quater of the whole SA population but what we Naija people call unsafe about Lagos will be a dream society for Joburg or anywhere in SA. Someone said its because of the arms used during liberation struggle. Ya, it might be but remember we had ours here in Nigeria too but people don't go about killing brothers and sisters like you see in SA. |
@RSA it isnt just about what the recent xenophobic killings exposed. Its about South Africa being safe enough for FIFA event like world Cup. You and I know how unsafe your country is when there is no world cup, what then do you think will happen when there are visitors who will naturally become targets of those criminals. In my opinion, I think South Africa is very unsafe for world cup. Not because of xenophobia but for insecurity. I know it makes one feel very bad when a group of people are condemned along with a few among them that are really bad and im not saying that all South Africans are bad. Its just that there are very many bad guys in South Africa even though your people will always like to say they are Nigerians. For example, its only in South Africa that there are many black serial killers, that is not common, even in the US. There are bad guys in here too but even with our huge population, our crime rate can never be compared with that of South Africa. South Africa is not safe for world cup, thats my opinion and FIFA should do something about it now even if it means tagging the competition South Africa 2010 and Hosting it in Mozambique. Its still in Southern Africa but on a safer ground. What do u think guys. |
tanx K.martins, I did exactly what you have suggested, I have a notice with an EFCC logo on each monitor in my cafe and it read: 'Your Browsing Session Here is Being Monitored' I didnt say who is doing the monitoring. But I know that most guys around recognises EFCC logo when they see it. I believe the notice worked to an extent because customers kept asking me who placed the notice. Thats probably because I did a very good graphic job with the sticker. It wasnt a normal cafe notice designed in ms word. Also at the entrance and various conrners of my cafe is a sign that says 'email scam mail is a crime, BEWARE' That was placed on a clear background with a blingin handcuff. That, I think, is also doing some work. As odd as it might sound, I have a policy of walking out anyone who uses email extractor out of my cafe. There are warnings for that one too. All these steps are not normal cafe style of operation but I tell you its good for my business because its building a reputation of yahooze free cafe and I can tell u that there are many people around who doesnt want to browse in a yahooze infested cafe, it makes the feel safer. I am targetting these people. Thank u once again. |
Hello people, Out of ignorance, some people and even some cafe owners believe that it is the yahoo guys that move cybercafes. With my experience, that is totally untrue. These guys stay longer in cafes and that, any cafe owner will agree, does not necessarily mean more spending. The long hours they spend in cafes are cheaper. It is called bulk time and bulk times are very cheap. When they stay all that long in your cafe with cheaper tickets you earn less and thats as simple as that. Regular users walks in, buys regular ticket, do their deal and leave thereby creating space for another user. In my own experience, due to EFCC raids, many students (99% of my customers are students) feel more relaxed browsing in yahooze free cafe and that means higher patronage and believe me, it is working for me. Some cafe owners around may not agree but I have seen the two sides of it. That is why I still need to take further step in discouraging yahoo activities at least in my own place. I don't think I need anyone to tell me that I'm foolish to stop scammers in my cafe because I know what works for me. i don't know of other cafes but stopping them is very good for my business and thats just that. thats why I am still looking for meaner ways of ending it. I need someone to suggest something workable. |
I own and run a cybercafe and the greatest challenge I am facing in the business now is spam mails sent from my cafe by yahoo guys. My ISP do not take it lightly and they have shut down my site severally as a warning and I loose much in cash and customers each time that happens. Can someone tell me how to stop these guys from sending spam mails from my machines. I believe there might be a program that can restrict spam from being sent from my cafe. I have searched the net but what I normally get is spam blocker/filter which only blocks spam from being sent to you and not the other way round. I need help. |
Before I went to Saka Tinubu, computer village was the first place I touched and most people there seem not to know the difference between Free to air satellite equipments and VSAT. |
I need to purchase brand new VSAT equipments. Dish, LNB, BUC and linkstar Modem. Someone told me there are shops at Saka Tinubu (V.I) but I have been to that street from begining to the end and cannot locate any of such shop. |
disgusting!!! |
i was with the army for one year during NYSC. If you are joinin the army for unemployment u will be very disappointed. Yes, u will get free acomodation. When you pass through the 'depot' they will give u free khaki and boot (camoflague, OG green , boot, belts and the ceremonial uniform) after that u are on your own. Any time your khaki or boot gets bad u buy one yourself and you're not allowed to wear bad ones. Then the real thing. Money, if you join as an NCO, Non commissione officer. They call them soldiers in the barracks. While those people that go theough NDA or short service are called officers. As an NCO,u will start with the rank of a 'private'. A private's salary in the army now is between N11,400 and N11, 900 per month. if you are promoted to a lance corporal (maybe after 10 years or less) they will add about 800 naira to your salary. after lance corporal u become a corporal then sergeant then staff seargent then warrant officer II and then warrant officer I. Thats it for an NCO. You can't get beyond that. but let me point out here that most soldiers retire as Sergeants. (over 90 percent of them). If go through short service (as a graduate) you will get real pay. Not too much ooo. the first rank as an officer--2nd lieutenant-- earns about N49,000 a month. But your chances of getting into short service is slim. They take 4 people from each state every year. Once you join army forget about freedom even if u are a colonel. But the good thing is that u must have somebody to command. and many to command u. happy service, |
@Ezinwannem, But then, Onitsha is in Anambra too. Just like Oba. |
.
Abeg oo.
