89k, could you imagine?
if it's not cleared after 7days, it will enter DHL demorage mode (#43/1kg per day)
And if it reaches 28 days without clearance, DHL will finally hand it over to customs undecided
You can apply for a review. This is what most Nigerians don't know. You can apply for a review posting the order page and how much the phone cost including shipping also stating it is for personal use. You can post the real standard global price of the device. Custom duty for phones is 10% of the phone price and cost of shipping basically 10 percent of what u paid aliexpress for the phone. They then charge 7% of the Duty price as VAT. So if you got the device for 100 dollars (cost and shipping) your duty should be 10 dollars + 0.7c (VAT being 7% of 10 dollars)
The above is what is stated in the CET document for customs which is used for duty. So you do have ground for a review. It would just take time which is why most people don't explore that option.

Me I Don ready them sha. I had to get another device while waiting so I am in no hurry at all.. If they send me some ridiculous price na sharply I go appeal for review putting all my reasons.

This is why I always advise, before you buy any item talk to the seller and specifically ask if item is in store.

Hi guys. I bought a Redmi phone on AliExpress last Friday. The seller was very responsive before I paid for the item. He even told me he ships out in just 3 days. I reached out to him when i paid after which he told me he doesn't have the items and he's awaiting supply from the factory, something he didn't tell me before I paid. He doesn't read my messages anymore. Something doesn't seem right with the seller. I canceled the order tho but I don't know if he rejected. Do I get like a notification of he accepts or rejects?

Cancel the other and select "store out of stock" or something like that. Then use the chat to speak to an aliexpress rep. Tell them what happened how you ordered only to be told the item is not available in stock. You will be asked to upload the screenshot of the chat. Do that and the case would be avoided to you. I had a similar problem on Ali and not only was I awarded, I was given a 17 dollar coupon for the inconvenience. To use the aliexpress chat you have to get pass the bot auto response and select chat with an agent.

Will have to verify from a friend that works with DHL cause I know from transactions on Amazon, NCS fee is added during payment with an indication of it been refunded if am not charged which has never happened
The above is from a close friend who is with the legal and compliance of one of the big international logistics companies. Idk about amazon shipping. Let us know what you find out from your friend.

If there's any charge, he'd have been contacted while package was still with NCS.
Sometimes they don't. DHL and FedEx have a bond with Customs that runs to millions of naira. When an item is shipped with DHL and has a custom duty, custom deduct the duty from the DHL bond hence allowing the items to continue on without delay. The update / held by customs you get is them accessing and evaluating the items for determination of duty.

This is why you pay to DHL account not to custom account because DHL has already paid the duty to customs.

I made payment on AliExpress with my Sterling Visa card last year November 2019.

The transaction failed but I was debited.

Later, my money was refunded.

After 5months, I received a debit alert on the same refunded money from the bank that AliExpress had taken the money.

Just imagine this!

I am just confuse.

Complained to the bank yet they said AliExpress took the money.

What should I do please?

Take it up with the aliexpress customer care, u can use the chat bot at the bottom right of your screen and select chat with an agent.

congratulations cheesy .. how long did it take? and what is the update saying now? I think you can now start counting down.. in the next 7-8 days your item go land. If it lands in 7 days time I guess one can say your item took about 3 weeks ... from the day DHL receieved information and about a month since you bought the item.

More information on DHL situation from China / Hong Kong
"people found DHL seems fast and can pass the customs under current situation. Due to this, it has a warehouse explosion. There are no shipping spaces available for all the packages. That's why it was not processed and being held in Hongkong. It's gonna take some time so please be patient on this matter. Thank you"

I got that from a reliable contact who works in DHL and is aware of the situation.
Gonna be a long long wait friends. Sit tight smiley

#True. Thank you.
But don't you think 4k is dependant on the screen size you're going for. Dimensionally speaking. You can't fit 4096 by 2160p into anything lesser than 40inches, that's why most manufacturers don't do it.(You eyes won't see the difference).
A 1080p 40inch, might display better imagery than a 75inch 4k display because of things like contrast ratio and the number of pixels per inch.
Basically the bigger the screen the more pixels it needs for a better display.
I think it's dependant on the size of the tv, if I wanted to get a 50inch tv, it must definitely would be 4k, but a 1080p 32 - 40 inch is still not a bad deal. I think...
You are right on the money. 4k makes a difference once u getting 50 inch and. 75 inch makes sense if you are doing 8K but that is still about 2 to 3 years from becoming mainstream.

did you know that some who use DHL get there orders in 3 to 4 days while some wait almost two weeks? So, if you paid a seller to use express shipping and he uses Aliexpress standard shipping, (which is relatively slower), you can open dispute. I still feel delay is from courier not seller. It is the Seller's job to get your items ready and send to courier who then makes the delivery
There is China DHL and there is Hong Kong DHL. Most sellers use Hong Kong DHL which is cheaper but way slower than China DHL. Hong Kong DHL means your item would first need be shipped to hong kong which can take 10-12 days (this explains the long time it takes for your waybill to show up on the DHL tracker) Once it gets to Hong Kong, you can then start counting the DHL trip to Nigeria which is usually 15 working days.

DHL China almost gets shipped immediately but you pay a premium.
If you are shipping an item like a phone and it cost about 38 dollars.. you are most likely using DHL Hong Kong.

You don't even need to feel, lol. Each store has its own processing time and we can only wish that orders are processed as fast as possible despite the timeline given. I know of stores that process and ready orders for pickup within 12-24hrs, at least, my orders.

Where issues are, mostly, is the time order was made, proximity of store to the chosen courier, courier processing style, local customs etc.

I have an order I made on 2nd of March, dispatched on 4th, handed over to airline on 14th, but spent a month at that stage and arrived 9ja 12/05. This order was shipped using AliExpress Standard Shipping (EMS Singapore). Should I still blame the seller? HELL NO!

This is true for he most part, but sellers still have a role to play in how fast your product gets shipped. 1, most sellers are in fact drop shippers without stock so when you place an order, they then go sort out the item to fulfil your order. This can take days, sellers who have goods in stock, ship within 24 hours. The next stage is the company that pics up the order and takes it to the post office, this is usually handled by a 3rd party company, they pick the order and deliver it to the courier office.. In this stage, some agent have better connect with the post office and can get your product out faster.. this good connect cost extra.

I got all this information from an Aliexpress seller who did an AMA on Reddit.

This is why shipping speed rating of a seller is very important. It is also important to have a conversation with the seller to know if he has goods in stock and how fast he ships. This conversation can be used against him in a potential dispute.

Neither.

Buy a bigger screen size non-smart Full HD TV, add some money to the change and get an android TV box.

For Android TV boxes, I recommend the Beelink GTking Pro and UGOOS AM6 Pro.

I had this conversation with a friend recently.. And this use to be my guiding principles for buying TV. This use to be a good strategy some years back (say 2014 maybe even 2015) now adays though, the bigger screen tv all come with smart features and in fact it is nolonger a premium addon for tv, you would be hard pressed to find a tv without some sort of smartness in them. In fact anyone you find is most likely an offbrand no name TV maker (think some no name android phone maker) and you are best to avoid those ones.

Adding smart features to TV has gotten so damn cheap that every manufacturer squeezes one into their set (The cut cost by installing a weak audio production - which is what has lead to the growth of sound bars) Unless you want to get 32 inches -- I don't even think you can find any 40+ screen from any of the major brands without smart features.

In all when buying a tv remember that tv is not something you change easily like a smart phone, try and get something that is at least future proof for about 5-8 years.. Features to watch out for include:

ARC (Audio return channel)
Multiple HDMI Input
CEC- enabled HDMI (usually come with ARC)
Screen with good local dimming and less of blooming (Deep, uniform blacks.)
Excellent low input lag. (good for gaming)
Support for HDR
at least 700 nit brightness

Nice to have features include
Dolby Vision
Wireless Networking and RJ45
High Refresh Rate (120hz) a most if you intend to game with your tv

And for gods sake make sure your tv is 4k.. If you can not afford a 4k, don't buy it now.
Some of the above features you may not need now, but trust me, you will appreciate them as it makes your tv future proof.

so, if you were a seller on Aliexpress and you know the shippers that could deliver your items to your client quicker , you would take the one that would delay. Sellers suffer delays too. Do you think they don't desire to get their money soon? The problems is with courier/shipper, not seller
Actually, some sellers choose slower shippers to pay less. I have learned to not just focus on the item rating but to also check the rating for the seller, particularly shipping speed. I make a note never to order from a seller whose ship speed rating is less than 4.6 stars.

pls talking of disregarding phone from "unknown"
manufacturers. I want to order for Teclast P 8 0 X 4G tablet 2gb ram 32 rom at about N40 k . I dont know if its a good buy or there are other better brands, products or models at that price.

Best to check review. Buying from unknown brands comes with lots of risk. Price alone does not tell the whole story, lots of corners are using cut which are not obvious. If you can not find any review on youtube then find something else.

Out of my 4 items , one that was handed over to airline on the 13th of April just left Hong Kong
This is insane
I think I have been lucky, items which were ordered on the 12th may, and shipped on the 13th Despatched to destination country on 20th may which is about 6 days since shipped, 2 items from 2 different sellers actually. Even the item i got on the 18th of April (and which uses economic non registered mail) has left the country. I used Ali express shipper if it helps anyone.

This might be because they often disregard phone from "unknown" manufacturers. They tend to horn in on the known guys like apple iphone, samsung and LG.. They probably have a phone price list database and if your device's name is not there, you can get a free pass. (I hope oneplus passes under their rader)

In any case, if I get an outrageous duty, I would appeal for a review (This advise is from a friend who works in the legals and compliance of one of the Big international logistic companies) and state that the item is personal, and state the price.. often time you get a downward review if you do that.. It might just take time.

A Chuwi tablet with keyboard. Custom fee is about 20% to 25% of d their estimation (not d one declared by the Aliexpress seller) and additional charges like VAT will then join em.

Like last week a friend paid 45k for a phone custom valued $600. D guy bought d phone 191k

9ja is broke now, looking for alternative income
which means the import duty posted on the custom website has changed. There import duty is 10% and VAT is 7%.. How did that become 20% to 25%? and the VAT is suppose to be 7.5% of the import duty. I think there has been a lot random charges without aligning with their own CET tariff document.

Shipped a 5kg item via DHL in April. Surprisingly no charges. The seller even used a gigantic carton which is three times the size of the item to pack it making for a very big package grin You may get lucky and not get charged.

PS: package not phone, but costlier than most phones.
I think they tend to horn in on phones. I hope I am lucky though. I heard DSS and NDLEA usually try to pull stunts.. I am waiting for those ones. It is customs I am more concerned about.
