Luvinghubby, gazzuz and all other experts on here.
Please help me with my Honda Halla braking system o. The brake pedal feels flat/soft once in a while especially when I'm going down a hill or slope or while reversing. I will have to match the brake 3 to 4 times before my car comes to a halt. I've been experiencing this for some months now and my Kazeem hasn't been able to rectify it. There was a day i couldnt stop the car descending a slope. It took several attempts of brake matching before the car stopped. Thank God the road was free(no vehicles or humans ahead). Please what can I do to remedy it ? |
Car Talk › Re: Does A Car Consume More Fuel When The AC Is On HI Than On LO by bigwizzy001(m): 2:02am On Jun 12, 2018 |
I must confess this is quite insightful. May God bless you beyond explanation. If you mean to ask if higher fan speed with the AC will reduce your MPG, it certainly will! The AC in your car (aside from electric AC systems found in hybrid and electric cars) works differently from the electric systems in buildings and houses. Automotive AC systems use a compressor driven by the engine through an electromagnetic clutch. This allows the compressor to be disengaged when not in use. When you use the AC, the air is cooled by passing over the evaporator which is cooled by the work done by the compressor. The evaporator gets cooled to about 34°F but not much lower to prevent ice accumulating. When the evaporator reaches that temperature, the compressor is disconnected by the clutch. As air continues to flow over the evaporator, the evaporator takes the heat from the air and its temperature increases. When the evaporator reaches about 42°, the compressor clutch is engaged and the evaporator is cooled back to 34°. Increasing the airflow over the evaporator causes it cool down more slowly with the compressor engaged and heat up more quickly with the compressor disengaged. This results in the compressor running for more time, which takes more power from the engine and results in fewer MPG than when the airflow over the evaporator is lower. It takes work to cool air. The work is ultimately done by the engine. More work is required to cool more air. Electric AC systems are governed by the same rules.
https://www.quora.com/Does-the-increase-in-fan-speed-of-a-cars-AC-decrease-its-fuel-efficiency-Why-or-why-not
This means more fuel is used, not because the fan is using engine power to turn faster, but because the compressor ends up being engaged for longer and disengaged for far shorter periods during the use of the AC at higher fan speeds. |

theamerican: Dear Ellie, After reading your transcript, I'm of the opinion you didn't do enough and like I always say, you made this decision too easy for the VO. That question in bold was like giving you a stage, a microphone, an audience and the chance to earn a multi-million dollar contract and sadly, you didn't earn it.
If the answer's truly what you said literally, then it simply wasn't good enough. The U.S is a country where MONEY is the biggest factor in determining anything. To that question, your answer was too general, and disappointing.
A better answer like "He has $35k cash in his checking account and despite being on study leave, he still gets $6500 monthly from the company in Nigeria. After paying rent, bills, and living expenses, he still saves about $3k monthly and we are sure that would be enough to sponsor Sandra and I".
Not like this would have guaranteed your Visa, I'm only saying it would have greatly improved your chance by answering that question and giving the VO the idea that you planned this new life properly and you would have no issues.
Finally, your husband's company in Nigeria served as a very strong tie back home and that could also be in your favor in getting that visa.
This is a case where reapplying is a good idea. You just have to prepare well. I wish you the best. You're too much theamerican, I 4 for you |

daprince5898: 04-04-2018. My transcript 1:
Me: good morning ma Vo: pass me ur i-20 Me: I did.
Vo: why did you choose wvu? Me: of all the sch I applied to, wvu is one of the best and among the 1st 50 rated schools in USA, well known for its well structured curriculum and a high quality research program which aliens to my area of interest. And above all, I shall the doing a research work with Prof Charles Wenger who already told me about the research topic in my department..... (She cuts in).
Vo: how many schools did you apply to Me: just wvu.
Vo: kept typing for ages................ Finally gave me the denial stuff.... You ain't eligible. Me: was like... Why? She said I should go thrn the letter and know why. I left.
My transcript 2: 19-04-2018
Vo: pass me ur passport and i20 Me: good morning ma, as I hand over the materials to her.
Vo: I discovered you have been denied, wht has changed Me: yes, i was denied, amd nothing has changed. I don't kn why I was denied. But I think I wasn't given enough time to express myself.
Vo: OK, now you have the time, express yourself; whts new: what has changed in ur new application. Me: (@ this point I was getting confuse, and she repeated it again) and I started talking about the school again, just like the way i said in the first one, perhaps der was no change in the former. And it ended with same denial.
Please I need assistance on how I can go about it? What do I do? Planning to take Lagos embassy this time, because my admission is closing 15th may. Here are the rationale behind your denial. You fumbled at the point the VO asked you how many schools you applied to. You should have simply said 3 or more. Most VO's attribute your genuineness to the number of schools you applied to. The worst he/she would have asked after that would have been 'why did you chose ABC school over the others '. Also as a genuine student who doesn't have any ulterior motive, you should be able to provide reasons for which you chose a particular school and course of study which you did but in a wrong manner. The answer you gave was a well know verse. VO's hear it every passing day. Too generic, rephrase your answers and prepare like your life depends on it. Wish you luck in your next shot. |

Assuming I got to USA with a university admission say January 2019 for spring intake but I don't have enough fund to enrol. Can I apply to a cheap community college so I don't go out of status? 1. If I can , how fast must I apply to the community college? 2. Or is it advisable I include one or two CC's when I'm applying from Nigeria, get I-20 before entering the state ? 3. With the CC I-20 in my possession, can I simply ignore the university and go enrol at the CC?

Not sure what you mean by sit GRE after admission. You can only do that if GRE is not required . I think your best guide is listing for yourself all application deadline both for admission and funding and then making sure you meet those deadline
Jan entry...possible but note that funding is significantly less in spring (jan) resumption. There are more opportunities in fall (August ) resumption Thanks so much my sister, May God reason your matter too |

If you applied to school that doesn't require WES as claimed, how will you go about your evaluation? I mean how will you convert your result on the scale of 5.0 to 4.0 or are you going to send it to them the way you collected it from your Naija school? And by the way, what's the name of the school? sheke01: How long depends on your school and how seriously you follow them up. I started my WES evaluation last September. My school delayed and sent my transcript in October and WES sent it back to them for verification that same month. My school then went cold on the matter as Non academic staff went from one strike to another which is still ongoing. I had already given up on the whole stuff and applied to schools that did not request for WES evaluation only for WES to send me a mail yesterday that they have received the necessary documents needed and my evaluation would be completed by friday. I dull shai, so ur case could be a whole lot faster is you follow up your school bumper to bumper |

Accscholar: 1. You can first start preparing and when you know you are fit, then register for the test.
2. Check the websites of the schools for deadlines, then you can clear your GRE like three weeks before deadline and apply to the school before deadline.
Why do you assume, though, that I'm a bro. That's kind of sexist lol. Whichever way, male or female. What matters is that you're homosapien lol. Thanks all the way... |

Accscholar: I'm assuming that the person has not applied to any school. Before you apply, you need some time to prepare for the test. Let's say you take the test by March, many (good) schools would have reached deadlines for the Fall semester by then. So you may not likely meet up.
Nonetheless, if you are from India or maybe China , you can prepare for a short time and meet up with January or February deadlines, depending on the school. Do you get? Thanks so plentiful for the insightful feedback bro. That means I will be looking at Spring 2019 but I still need some clarifications on issues baffling me; 1. Will I apply for the GRE before hand or I must study for 2 to 3 months first and apply afterwards? 2. When exactly is advisable to apply to schools as I'm eyeing spring 2019 now? |
