NYSC › Re: How Many Months Does It Take U To Get A Job After Ur NYSC? by bigx(m): 6:25pm On Jun 16, 2012
kushy: life looks more difficult after service, things get more complicated. 4 months witout job life looks miserable.
Must it be a job after service? How about starting a business and employing others? In Nigeria and worldwide unemployment has been rising astronomically and I believe this "wait for a job attitude" isn't that effective nowadays.
Look around you, your environment, look within you, at what you are good at and what you can sell, build a small business round it, and if you are not 100% comfortable with the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, continue dropping applications and using your profits in developing yourself.
When the job comes you might not even want it anymore. Take your own destiny in your hands.
Webmasters › Re: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by bigx(m): 2:00pm On Jun 16, 2012
Dual Core: Thanks,
Its exactly the same problem the other client has when using the plugin. The script breaks when he enters the license key. I will contact Leke later today to know if its something they can fix from their end or we have to change some configurations on our servers.

In the interim, the workaround to this will be to directly insert the license key into the database using a tool like PHPMyAdmin, found in your cPanel Control Panel.

A notification will be sent out to all clients once this is fixed.

Thanks again.

=========
Update:
I talked with Leke and there's good news for TruDigits clients who rely on Afrisoft Plugin smiley

Well the problem:
The present version of the plugin uses a php function that is turned off on all TruDigits servers (mandatory on Shared servers) so it breaks the script when that function is called. That function is turned off as part of the security protocols on all TD servers.

The Fix:
Afrisoft has already taken care of this in the next version of the plugin by creating diversions to other functions if that function is disabled (function_exists()). I have no details as to this new version but I am sure it will be released pretty soon.

Let's exercise some patience. smiley
Or in the Alternative, Install the PHP module Zip in the server by recompiling PHP and Apache in the server, then enable error_reporting() in the server by enabling the same in the PHP.ini file.

If they no longer have issues after that say thanks wink

& by the way, this thread has outlived its usefulness.
It should be closed now.
Business › Re: Internet Payment Solutions - Any Alternatives To Interswitch? by bigx(m): 10:28am On Jun 16, 2012
msanda: @bigx

Thanks a lot for the recommendations.
Please confirm, do you know anyone who has used either and what is the service like?
I am checking out the sites as we speak...
CashEnvoy is has been used on www.cluewebhost.com since 2010 and www.smsnuvia.com since last year, so its good enough. They are really professional and support is ok.

Voguepay is newer, a few months old but its a lot easier to configure and install though I havent gotten around to using it yet but those who use it aren't complaining yet.
Business › Re: Internet Payment Solutions - Any Alternatives To Interswitch? by bigx(m): 9:33am On Jun 16, 2012
msanda: History: I found a similar post under the Webmasters section (https://www.nairaland.com/13343/which-online-payment-system-choose).
However, I believe this is a business problem. Also, it's been two years since the last response to that post (created in 2006)
Today, the cashless policy has been passed, things should have changed.

The question: What alternatives exist to Interswitch as an online payment solution?

The challenge: I run a website (a blog actually, www.moviegist.com) where I intend to start selling items (for physical delivery) to Nigerians in Nigeria. I need an a payment system linked to my site that will allow individuals to pay for items purchased from my site.

It appears the popular choice (judging from what is used by other websites like switchng.com, dealdey, etc) is Interswitch. While I have no qualms using Interswitch (I make regular payments with the system without issues), I like to know what my options are. Also, I am certain there are other businesses in the same shoes as I am right now.

So far, Google has suggested other solutions such as www.fastecash.com, www.topupnigeria.com and possibly www.etranzact.com but I am yet to contact any of these providers.

Please respond if you have tried any of the providers above (Interswitch, FasteCash, ETranzact, TopUpNigeria) or any other web payment solution provider. In addition to information on 1. registration costs and 2. transaction charges, I would sincerely appreciate comments on reliability (i.e. any downtime experienced?), customer care and response time.

Thanks, Nairalanders.
Voguepay (voguepay.com) is free to use, also CashEnvoy (www.cashenvoy.com) visit their websites.

Crime › Re: Crazy Real Life robberies /Crime Stories by bigx(m): 11:59am On Jun 15, 2012
FMary: We had finished our semester examinations and almost all the students had travelled. My friends and I were so broke n we decided to lure a byke man to our hostel area which was usually lonely at night n rob him. We were 3 in number so one person went to town n boarded a byke back to de hostel n we actually robbed him with table n pen knife. Unfortunately our loot was very little n since one of us needed to travel urgently we gave him de money. The next day he came back to de hostel having stolen a lot of money from his father so we went to town to drink in a 5 star hotel. It was late when we came back one of us bringing back a prostitute. As we were about to enter out hostel some robbers decended on us n went in with us n stole almost all de money our friend stole from his father. They raped de prostitute also so de bad side of it was that in the morning the prostitute invited the police telling them it was us. The police came n arrested the guy who stole from his father n another guy... I was lucky dey did not see me. It happened de guy's father had to come n bail him from the police station n eventually withrew him from out school..... True life story

Car Talk › Re: What Is The Difference Between Pre-ordered Cars From Abroad & Cars From Cotonuo? by bigx(m): 7:50am On Jun 15, 2012
Geranimo: Hi all

Please I would appreciate expert advice on the difference between pre-ordered cars and cars sold at Cotonuo.
I mean difference with regards to:
a. Quality
b. Price/cost

I would appreciate constructive advice from Nairalanders since this would help me a great deal in deciding where to source the car I intend buying soon.

Thanks.
To me, the only difference between both is the honesty of the dealer you get it from,
Car Talk › Re: Help With Driving Manual Car by bigx(m): 10:34pm On Jun 14, 2012
Dual Core: I'm not into the technicalities of cars so I will just comment from a lay man driver point of view.

About your engine dying when in Gear 1 and about to move: Every manual transmission vehicle has this point of equilibrium (dunno the technical name) between the accelerator and the clutch. You have to master that. Your acceleration should meet your releasing the clutch at that point of equilibrium for a smooth take off. Once take off is initiated, don't just take your feet off the cluth immediately. You just need to master that point of equilibrium for your car. Best place to get used to it is in an open field. After knowing that point then enter lagos roads. . . the traffic jams are enough on-the-road exercises to work with.

About when to change gears
Look at the RPM when accelerating, you shouldn't let it get close to red. Changing gears should come instinctively. . . you should know when you have accelerated and max'd that gear. Most times I force an Auto to move a gear higher by reducing the RPM for a second or so. In a manual vehicle you should also listen to the engine and change just before it starts sounding stressed. When coming downwards with gears I personally think its safe to drop in a downward sequence. From 6 to 5 to 4 to 3 and so on. Not from 6 to 4 or 3.

Just my 2 kobo. . . heck I wish I knew cars like I knew codes sad
I usually switch gears at roughly 25 rpm, so the engine sound remains uniform
House i really would like to know what mechanics do when servicing a car? What parts do they touch and what materials do they buy. i have come to realise that most of these mechs are №t reliable. They tell you they want to service your vehicle, collect money and do little or nothing. They can even buy inferior parts.

Just want to know what i can lƠ̴͡Ơ̴͡k out for and even buy for car servicing
For Mine, I change the Engine Oil and Oil Filter, then fuel filter too.
