Business › Re: GTB Tokens Don't Last! by bigx(m): 6:45pm On Jun 13, 2012
Dual Core: These tokens do their work but the hardware does not last. My first token didn't stay a year before i noticed a small crack on the screen which grew into a bigger crack and the ink spread accross the screen.

I got a replacement and few weeks later i saw a small patch of ink (no cracks) which has since been growing at the center. Its almost halfway through the screen but I can manage to guess the obscured numbers most times so I am still using it.

For my first token, I always had it with my keys. I guess that's how the crack came. The replacement token too, I had it with my keys until last week when I removed it.

GTB cannot give us a token and expect us to keep it at our homes and bring it out of the drawer only when we need to make a transaction.

I put my token with my keys because my keys are always with me and I could initiate any transfer anywhere! The token even has a provision for a key chain so it means the makers expect it to be affixed to a set of keys but these tokens are not rugged. They are not built for Nigerian mobility! Soon I will be replacing this second token and each replacement costs 3,500 Naira.

Meanwhile I have decided to find out some time to generate as many token numbers as I can in an hour and save in a secure location on my handheld devices, because that ink that's spreading may just give way one day and cover the whole screen and it may be at a crucial moment.
Stop keeping them with your keys, Its not secure at all.

Webmasters › Re: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by bigx(m): 9:53am On Jun 13, 2012
.net has been on trudigits all this while, it expired for a month or so because i was working on a new brand that was meant to replace .net
but i later changed my mind and decided to keep the 2 separate

I have over 10 websites hosted with trudigits. www.dhtmlkits.com is one of them

Next, as for frontpage article, that has nothing to do with me at all.

And i love the way you talk - it shows a lot of maturity and intelligence - i have respect for that (unlike a certain dunce)
Satisfactory answer smiley I saw it was from the registry it was transferred too.
@afam4eva Didn't think from that angle.
Tired Of Nigerian Webhosts / My Best Web Host Ever (pls This Is Not An Advert)

Yeah people, enough sleeping on this board. Lets try to stir things up a bit.

I have used a lot of Nigerian hosts and foreign hosts as well. So now, i will now announce the best webhost I can recommend to Nigerian developers based on my own person experience.

And the webhost also have a great website to their name - www.trudigits.com - i will not say too much, you can check their website and start placing your orders - it works like maggick.

Now, you guys are free to share your experiences with Nigerian web hosts.
Trudigits is a good and dedicated company, I personally know someone who uses them and I also know the owner is based here in Port Harcourt (might even try them out someday), but there's something really strange I noticed here:

1.) .net (poster's website) was transferred to trudigits servers on the same day this post was made, is that enough time for the poster to make a judgement or is there some other deal behind it all? (I refer to poster's bandwidth issues and co at the beginning of the year).

2.) This obviously non-neutral promotional post made front page with less than 5 replies on the same day it was posted. What is the criteria for front page? I own a restaurant, If I get a client to post my business's name as the best restaurant do I get front page too? grin or do I pay something for that? Because I have countless businesses to advertise in that way.

I'm not in anyway discrediting Dual Core as so far, I'vnt heard anything bad from him, but I would like Mr. Poster to address the issues I raised

soloqy: Can they just design their own website instaed of using some free website template? Thats my own contribution in all of this smiley
Does the look of their website make them more or less reliable? Never knew that was a free template though, do you have the link? That's by the way. They don't advertise to the best of my knowledge and as such, the website is a non-issue.
Webmasters › Re: Trudigits: My Best Nigerian Web Host Ever by bigx(m): 3:05pm On Jun 10, 2012
For over 3 years Clue WebHost (www.cluewebhost.com) has provided professional webhosting services to hundreds of websites from the North, South, East and West of Nigeria.
They don't advertise, but their services have been so good that they provide shared, reseller and VPS services to hundreds of clients via strictly referrals.
They offer instant setup and online payments via local ATM cards, dedicated support via tickets, phone and email and have courteous and technically competent staff.
A trial of their services would convince you.
Business › Re: Globacom ED-HR Adewale Sangowawa, The Worst Person Ever by bigx(m): 7:33am On Jun 10, 2012
adebimpetayo: Globacom employees issues are regular in news. Now the HR has started harrassing Indian expatriats. A horrible incident occurred in recent which clearly indicates how inhuman the Human resources can be.
An Indian was forced to resign about a month back. His fault ?? He dared to reach HR office to enquire his accomodation request status. He requested Sangowawa for early processing of lease request, as his current lease was scheduled to expire after a month. Sangowawa didn't like to be reminded on pendings at his end and got furious on his request. He ordered his department to prepare false claims and ensure removal of his own expat staff. It sounds abnormal but Sangowawa has created a terror in the organisation which has ruined Globacom work culture.
Shouldn't this be under Careers?
If you were a Billionaire, who would you be and why? If i was a Billionaire i would be Richard Branson. Reason is becauce we have a lot in common. First, we both love to have fun and we both enjoy what we do. We are both adventurous and Obviously we are both Idea freaks.
How about you?
I'd reduce employment in the best way, funding other upcoming business owners, I give a lot and would raise the quantity then, would have a charity (not for giving handouts, but for teaching others to be self reliant) and finally, would vacation in every city in the world.
If I were a billionaire, I'd still be me, but on a much larger scale.
Webmasters › Re: The Truths About Web Designing/Development Business in Nigeria by bigx(m): 11:46pm On Jun 09, 2012
felifeli: The truth is that you cannot become a millionaire by doing web design in Nigeria. It is rare to find any business desperate to find someone to build a site for over 50k
For the figure you mentioned, it depends on where you are looking. There are clients who would throw out your quotation if you are too cheap as mostly cheap is synonymous with poor quality. Like the adage says, "Pay Cheap, Pay Twice". Also, think out of the box, Web Designer doesn't mean the person sits in front of a computer 24/7 designing each website, that won't bring millions. 50k you mentioned times 20 websites is 1 million Naira and that's very doable within a month as a web design business owner.

Simply your braanding, and show them how what your building for them can make them extra money
I'm very very optimistic about life, and I want to be a Billionaire at 36. it is not just the billionaire thing

that is driving me, but the joy of employing and creating a more friendly environment full of opportunities for people to thrive and achieve their dreams.

I've thought of online business, but I dont really know how to go about it

My savings wont do the miracle considering my present state.

I am 26 and I have just ten years to be in my dream world.

please how do I go about it.

I'm aware NL is a place of genius. please come on board and safe me!
Wrongest place to ask this because NLders are all either:

1.) Employees curing workplace boredom
2.) People easing idleness from unemployment or
3.) People selling their products

Apart from that, a principle I know says; "Make money, and shut up about how your making it". A Billionaire coming to this public space to spill all his trade secrets would only create un-worthy competitors (a lesson I learnt from the first few businesses I started). Look for a real billionaire (that made it through hardwork) to stick yourself to. You'd grow faster that way.

Car Talk › Re: Peugeot 406: How Reliable? by bigx(m): 6:16pm On Jun 08, 2012
I use a peugeot too, nice car but I'd recommend you stand and watch anyone opening your bonnet.
The components in the car are really delicate, the alternator drive belt cuts inexplicably at times (I wonder why), Its not good with water (floods and all) and you must follow the servicing/ replacement schedule to get the best from the car.
The Haynes manual for your model would also be important for you to understand your car intimately.
Finally, for a peugeot I think you should have
your own car diagnostic kit, there's one up for
sale at www.nairaland.com/931712/peugeot-
owners-program-new-keys
Careful with the mechanics again (the fancy dealers
are no better most times)

Star of David is an illuminati symbol? So Israel which has It on its flag is an illuminati country? I wonder why people just take theories spinned by a novelist and waste useful time building theories on them, everyone is now illuminati overnight... An idle mind is really the Devil's workshop.
