How can you manipulate an election with someone else's pvc when you will be accredited with biometrics? If this report is true and there is no way of proving it, then what they want to do is clear and by no means illegal. If it were they would not put an audit trail on it.

It's really important as we head into this week to do so with cool heads and avoid creating situations that will lead to tension or violence. I have seen several reports exactly like this today and they all seem to have the intention of discrediting the result before the election holds.
Please tell me you are not really this stupid? undecided

If not to intimidate voters and tamper with the election, why do you need the people swearing in a video that they will vote for APC? undecided

What they are doing is voter intimidation at the least and it is illegal, but then this is Nigeria, where it is "good morning" at 12 midnight

Why do you want photocopies of people's pvcs and their polling booth? Why do you want the officers to swear that they will vote for APC? is it not because you know they wont vote for your party willingly? undecided

Only foolish people like you will think this is acceptable. You are so focused on your selfish interest in the short term, that you ignore the suffering that will soon befall you, your family and descendants.

Some of us are old enough to have lived through almost all of Nigeria's elections, and all these nonsense are nothing new. At the end of the day, only more suffering awaits all. Even those in power today, their descendant will still end up in suffering. Until we can have free and fair elections, Nigeria cannot move forward.

So for you and anyone else who acts and/or support acts that denies Nigerians their right to express their electoral free will, na God and man go punish una, your relatives and descendants. May the suffering your actions cause the average Nigerian, descend on your relatives and descendants a million folds. May you and your descendants lack free will in the most important choices of your lives

Have you noticed that most professors in Nigeria seem to be socially daft? Like they're the demography that were most vocal in supporting Buhari in 2015 just like that Kperoogi or whatever he is called. Even the Nobel Laurette, Wole Soyinka, Pat Utomi and others.

The odium and disgrace they brought on themselves seems to be the reason why they didn't stick out their neck to support Tinubu this time because I'm sure that in their inebriated minds, Tinubu is the best thing to happen to Africans after transatlantic slave trade.

Are they not the ones politicians are using to rig elections in Nigeria? Maurice Iwu, Mahmoud whatever and who knows others. Its obvious that something is wrong with Nigerian professors.

I'm just curious. Do other countries have this many stupid people moving around as professors?

BTCJagaban:
Good day,

This is to the supporter of uploading result through Bvas in real time. Nigeria is yet to become a digitized country.

(I) North: For Nigeria to start electronic transmission of results through Bvas in real-time, 70% of the northern part of the country’s population would be literate in the use of internet and mobile devices. The just concluded election in Nigeria where most online users see the Southern part of the country results online while you hardly see northern part results online.

This prove that most of the population up north does not have mobile devices, internet connection or they can’t afford internet connection. Kwakwasiya followers would have follow the suggestion of uploading result from the Bvas in real-time.

(II) Hackers: I don’t know if anyone here remember #endsars when anonymous started fighting government to support the protest. Almost all ministries in Nigeria got hacked. Nigeria does not have what it takes to depend a 200million population belief on a database, website or machines. A single hack will bring Nigeria to war. Even Nigeria banks don’t have enough IT specialists to run their app. Until Nigeria become 100% digitized, I will never support electronic transmission of results in Nigeria. Thanks.

This is just plain nonsense

What has Nigeria or the North "becoming digitized" have to do with anything? undecided

What is next - Nigeria needs to be nuclear capable before we can burn firewood?

All that is required for real time electronic transmission (and even e-voting) is for INEC and it's officers to have the needed technology to do such.

If all you are focused on is who wins the election, then you have missed the more fundamental issue.

The point is not about who wins (and not just the presidency, but every position contested), but that we should have credible, free, and fair elections.

Whoever the people truly voted for as their leader, is the leader that they deserve.

But when the outcome of an election is independent of the votes of the people, then the politicians will never be responsible to the people, but instead reward those that (will) helped them rig themselves into power

I keep saying that if these Nigerian riggers don't end in jail, this country will never work. From the Chief Rigger to all his accomplices.
One can still understand a politician and his touts trying to rig elections, but the bigger problem in Nigeria is the electoral, security and judicial officers, whose primary responsibility is to maintian the integrity of the process, that instead become the tools through which the people are disenfranchized and the will of the people stolen.

Unfortunately the penalty under the electoral act is too light and not enough to discourage these criminals. Electoral fraud should be classed under treason imo, after all, the argument can be made that they are trying to undermine a legitimate government from coming into being.

At some point, the masses will need to take matters into their own hands and make scape goats of these criminals, so that others will think twice before colluding with politicians to steal elections. The names of most of these corrupt INEC offcials are on the documents that they manipulated.

If INEC can not conduct free and fair elections, then of what use are they to the people? undecided

Its saddening that after so many decades and attempts, we still cant hold free and fair elections (even June 12 was stage managed).

But then it is not surprising given that we cant conduct a true census, dont have reliable electricity and lack potable water in most of the country.

Yet many of my people continue to focus their efforts on stoking tribal and/or religious sentiments, which only serve to facilitate the incompetence and corruption of the failures that some call leaders.

A very sad nation - smh.

1.That this election should be used to first remove APC from power
2 . The Obidient movt would only end up wasting crucial votes needed to get APC out
3 The more work the Obidients put in the better for Tinubu campaign
4 .Peter Obi no matter how popular would not be able to get more than 7 million votes and that would not be enough .

The stubborn short sighted mob went ahead and as we predicted

1 They handed Tinubu the presidency on a platter
2. For the first time they allowed an unpopular candidate win the election with just 8 million votes , no Nigerian president has been elected with such low votes but thanks to the Obidients it has happened .
3 .They have destroyed Nigerias secularity by helping to enable a Muslim Muslim ticket.
4 . Because of this stupidity Nigerian Muslims will be leading Nigeria for 24 straight years uninterrupted.. Many of you might never see a Christian president in your life time again left for a miracle
5 .they have set Igbo national politics back at least 30 years .
I blame the high level of corruption and electoral malpractices that are the norm in Nigeria, else why would an idiot like you have an opportunity to be posting nonsense.

People are free to vote for whoever they want. What we need is free and fair elections, where the outcome reflects the wishes of the people, not all these shameful nonsense that seems endemic in our society, where people that dont even contest can be declared winners of elections.

Nigerians at some point need to shift their anger onto all the INEC and security personnel that are complicit in robbing people of their true choice (independent of party) at any level.

All Yorubas must make it a point of duty to call all their kinsmen in Lagos that the election in Lagos is not just an ordinary election, it's an intergenerational war between indigenous Yoruba people and minority settlers that have never hidden their intentions to subdue Yoruba people in Yorubaland.

Please note, their target is the entire Yorubaland not Lagos. Lagos is the launching pad for their conquest.

The supreme court has too often overstepped it bounds, trying to arrogate to itself the powers of the executive

Politics / Re: New Naira: Falana Knocks CBN For Disobeying Supreme Court Order by biina: 8:43pm On Feb 14, 2023
legallysly:

The CBN could not have been a party to a suit brought before the Supreme Court in its original jurisdiction.

In its original jurisdiction, the Supreme Court only contemplates suits between:

1. States of the Federation and the Federal Government (or Federation) :

2. One or more states of the Federation against another state or other states of the and a state of the Federation (or states of the Federation;

3. The Federal or State Governments and any of (or both) the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament.

There is no room for agencies, ministries and/or parastatals of Government as they are all considered agents of the Federal Government whose presence is unnecessary for a suit in which the Federal Government (or Federation) is in itself a party. These other bodies can only come before the Supreme Court when it is exercising its appellate jurisdiction.

The judiciary in all fairness has been the sanest of the three arms of Government so far as it has not allowed its reasoning to be clouded by sentiments.

The order from the Supreme Court in this suit binds the CBN as if it were a party to the suit since its Principal has been restrained (with the subject matter of the order clearly defined). The CBN is thus bound to comply with the order (whether valid or not) until it is set-aside (for lack of jurisdiction etc).

It is disheartening that the CBN has confirmed in its statement what we had all secretly suspected; that it would disregard an order of the Supreme Court.

I expect their Lordships to address this issue of disobedience tomorrow.

In any event, the order lapses tomorrow and the Supreme Court has several options open to it.

It may;

1. Order parties to file all necessary counter-affidavits and replies (to the FG's Preliminary objection and the Plaintiffs' Originating Summons and Motion for interlocutory injunction) for adoption and a composite ruling/judgment on the next adjourned date; one which will definitely be after the general elections. In this case, parties will also be directed to maintain status quo until said date.

2. Hear the FG's preliminary objection on the ground that any questions as to its jurisdiction must be answered first before it proceeds to the motion for interlocutory injunction and the originating summons. Upon hearing parties on the issue of jurisdiction, it may reserve its decision on the matter until after the general elections with an order for parties to maintain status quo.

3. Hear and determine the FG's preliminary objection one way or the other. If it finds that it has jurisdiction, the scenario in 1 plays out (sans the Preliminary Objection) and the matter may be adjourned until after the general elections with an order for parties to maintain status quo. If it however finds that it lacks jurisdiction to entertain the matter, the suit will be struck out (or more likely dismissed even if it has not been heard on the merits in order to underscore the finality of the decisions of the Supreme Court) with heavy costs against the Plaintiffs.

Either way, the Supreme Court is not final because it is infallible, it is infallible because it is final.

We should all try to maintain the sanctity of our judiciary because it is the only institution standing between us and total anarchy.

Since you deem the supreme court as infallible cos its final, then please carry your old naira notes to Ariwoola and have him change them to new notes for you. undecided

How can anyone take the current supreme court seriously, when they award candidacy to those that never contested in the primaries. They themselves ignore the very law that they are meant to interprete and uphold.

A politicized supreme court that tries to arrogate to itself the powers of the executive, is no longer standing between us and anarchy, but standing behind and pushing us into anarchy.
