Foreign Affairs / Re: Putin Orders Wagner Fighters To Sign Oath Of Allegiance by biina: 11:55pm On Aug 26, 2023
It's funny how some are praising Putin, when the reality is that this has been a big disaster and Putin is trying to manage his losses.

Wagner was a PMC that was specifically built to do Putin's dirty work without any declared ties to Russia, but same is now being asked to swear allegiance to Russia? undecided

Putin blundered the moment he got Wagner involved in the Ukraine war. It was like him trying to using a surgical scalpel to cut a big tree.

From the manpower losses they suffered in Ukraine, to recruiting convicts, to mutiny, to killing Utkin and Prighozin, and now asking them to swear allegiance to Russia, Putin has dismantled one of his best weapon against the West and basically cut off his own left arm.

Unfortunately he still has much bigger problems like
- what contingency plans has Utkin and Prighozin left behind. One cannot assume that they are so stupid given how long they have been engaged in conflicts both on battlefield and in the corridors of power
- even if he killed Utkin and Prighozin, who else in Wagner is harboring ill intent and/or planning a selfish agenda. Wagner, even in small pieces, is a juicy pie
- who can Putin trust to help him manage the complex web of entities that make up Wagner, which goes beyond the PMC operations. If even Prighozin betrayed him, others are likely less loyal.
- without Wagner, Putin now needs to rely more heavily on the Russian army that he himself has crippled to secure himself in power.
- how will he handle all the criminals he has injected into Wagner, which has made them less effective as a surgical tool.

Seems Putin is now on the other side of the hill and his final demise is simply a matter of time

merits:
WHAT AN IRONY OF LIFE?

Do you know that the only tree a monkey cannot climb is the banana tree.

Paradoxically, banana is what monkey likes the most. This implies that anytime banana is found in the hand of a monkey, it is most likely a gift from someone. The question is, why then can't Monkey climb banana tree, but can climb the tallest trees in the forest? Hence, the phrase "Who dash monkey banana?" was coined.

This little analogy is full of divine message to the right thinking human being. In the journey of life, there are several things you like but will never be achieved unless you are given by God Almighty. Therefore, it is not of him that willeth or of him that runneth but of God that showeth Mercy.

May His mercy continue to abide in, and with everyone of us forever.

Good morning, children of God and happy weekend.

Gap is not the problem. The problem is the lack of accountability.

Nigerians, and Africans in general, never hold our leaders accountable to he people, more so when the leader is from the same tribe/region. undecided

The essence of control systems is the use of negative feeback to correct errors due to wrong output. In the absence of feedback, the system is free to produce whatever nonsense it wants

So sorry, but you have no choice than to respect the will of the majority.

I did not see any thing to prove obi is a better leader. He has ruled Anambra before and he was a failure. If obi had won the election, there’s no way he can rule Nigeria. He simply does not have the capacity other than emotional sentiments.
I repeat, Obi is not capable to handle Nigeria. He does not have what it takes to handle the multi diverse situation of Nigeria.
He is one sided and only one side wanted him. Nigeria will disintegrate under his leadership

One policy gone bad is not sufficient to make me regret Tinubu. We still have at least 4 good years to decide and he’s still setting up his cabinet. I am not in a hurry.
I repeat so can hear me loud and clear. Obi was a total failure in Anambra, Anambrans dished our several insults and even a thread here on nairaland was dedicated to speak of his failure.
He has no achievement other than claiming to be a saint. He cannot handle a multi diverse society like Nigeria. He can only rule the southeast
Nobody knows what the will of the majority was when the election was a total failure, but I doubt it was Tinubu. Even if he was the will of the majority, that does not make him the right choice. After all, at some point the majority believed the world was flat undecided

Your claim that only one side wanted Obi is the kind of tribal sentiments that people like you stoke to manipulate the ignorant. Obi had a diverse support and I dont care where the candidate is from in Nigeria, as long he is best among the available choices. Obi might have also failed in office, but it would have been better than what the masses are currently facing. No matter how bad Obi is, he is still better than Tinubu and even Atiku is still a better choice.

Nice epistle. But I don’t see how changes the fact that Asiwaju remains the best candidate.
I did not say I regret choosing Jagaban. I only made mention of the policy which I was against.
And pls show me any government in the world that is perfect !

The fact we choose a candidate doesn’t mean they are perfect. And the fact that your candidate did not win does not warrant hoping that your country fails

Are you sure you are educated enough to understand this simple thing? Because I’m saying one thing, you are saying another

Best candidate? when in less than 3 months he has made himself the worst president ever! undecided

He was the worst choice of the three bad choices - Obi could have been bad, Atiku probably worse, but Tinubu was always going to be the worst.

People like you never regret your terrible choices, otherwise you would not keep repeating the same blunders over and over again. It just sad that others have to bear the consequences of you lack of judgement

Socrates was right, the idea of 'one man, one vote' is flawed. People like you should never be allowed to vote - you cant think for yourself, talk less of thinking for others.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Writes Senate, Seeks Military Intervention In Niger by biina: 6:05pm On Aug 04, 2023
Throwback:
Many Nigerians should know that Niger needs to be saved from Military dictatorship that has seized power from the minority tribe President who is not Hausa, Djerma or Fulani.

Imagine if a minority had won the Presidential election for the 1st time in Nigeria, then a military coup from the Majority tribes of Hausa or Yoruba then seize power to the joy of the majority tribes who support such return of power.

The whole world must save Niger from military dictatorship and any attempt to illegally thwart the regime of a minority tribe.

Hausa and Djerma should allow the minority Tuareg/Arab to breathe in Niger Republic.

President Bazoum must be allowed to complete his term in office.

This is just nonsense but not surprising that your likes are trying to stoke tribal sentiments in the politics of another country. undecided

Wasn't Bazoum the interior minister under the previous regime and a member of same PNDS party that has been in power since 2011.

A popular ruler would have had the support of the majority of the populace and thus any military coup to overthrow him would have been unpopular

Presently Africa is leaning towards Russia than the West.

The Coup leaders in Russia are believed to have Russian back up.

Russia and China has pragmatic solutions to Africa's problems. Not like America whose solutions are democracy, human rights and gay rights while supporting corruption. Hungry and ravaged communities don't need those nonsense
What pragmatic solutions? undecided

Is it the borrow from us and let your unborn generations owe debts that you will never pay off or is it the I will sell you arms and mercenaries so that you will not have peace? undecided

Every foreign government is looking to steal our resources but Africans are the only one stupid enough to think otherwise.

The day we look only inwards to solve our problems and hold our leaders accountable is when we will start moving in the right direction.

Minimum wage is a dubious measure, cos percentage of population at minimum wage varies by country

It is better to look at median income, which is
Ghana $1779
Nigeria $825

i.e. middle class in Ghana earns 2x middle class in Nigeria
