JeSoul:Possession time is 14:53. and we scored on 5/8 drives. You can knock on our defence, but the O is doing fine. bawomolo:Offense is fine. They will only get better as the new guys get blend in to the system. D should improve when Bob Sanders return, but till then, those guys are juts painful to watch on 3rd downs. They couldn't get off the field for their life. It still quite incredible that a perennial playoff team, often has one of the worst run defense in the league. |
mystikal:The point wasnt about whether it was beneficial to fire the coaches or not, but simply that the UK manager often enjoys a stability denied to their continental counterparts, and thus their results should be taken in that light. |
mystikal:Rafa 5yrs + at liverpool and no major trophy in the past 4yrs Martin Oneil 3yrs + and nothing In Europe, you would be fired without results. |
bawomolo:except when they were beating chicago in the SB ![]() I beg give credit to my thoroughbreds. First snap of the game: Manning, play action fake, goes deep to dallas clark, clark breaks the tackle, 80yrds 12s touchdown! ![]() |
While a case can be made for SAF being the best manager, he is definitely not the best coach. The likes of Capello, Lippi, Hiddink, Hitzfeld, Van Gaal, and even Mourinho, are clearly better. SAF, like most EPL managers, has always had the benefit of long term stability. But then the club structure in most UK clubs is different from what they have in Europe. So one can argue that SAF is the best guy for his type of job, but I dont see him being successful outside of UK or with a national team. |
Leeds are top of L1 and are off to a great start. Hope Beckford & co can put the reds to the sword at elland road |

Uche2nna:Given that the additional minutes were added when the ball was in the Citeh half, there is nothing to say (or otherwise) that the ref would have added same if the situation were reversed. Like I said it was simply a bad call, and does not mean the ref was in collusion with SAF. On the upside, the loss gives Citeh a reality check, and lets them know that there is still much work to be done, cos on strength of play, ManU deserved the win. |
chamotex:Stoppage time is used to compensate for time lost due to injuries and substitutions (with 30 seconds for the latter). The time displayed at the end of the half, is the additional minutes the ref intends to add at that point. Any additional minutes would be due to occurrences during the stoppage time (hence why it is called a minimum). He was supposed to add 30s for the substitution. There were no incidences to justify the additional 2min+ added by the ref. A 4min stoppage time being extended to 8min is extreme. It was a bad call. |
People should stop trying to justify an additional 2min+ of stoppage time by a lone substitution. In fact, it is a common tactic to try wasting the stoppage time by making substitutions. The referee erred by adding that much minutes. It does not mean he was in collusion with SAF. I doubt anyone would argue that ManU had the best of the second half, nor would they complain had the match ended 3-2, given the tide of the game at that point. But please learn to call a spade a spade, and not let your fan boism override your sense of fair play |
A bad call is a bad call, irrespective of who benefits. Saying otherwise is hypocrisy. |
The only thing bitter is the way we lost. ManU dominated in the second half and derserved to win on strength of play, but adding 8mins of injury time was just daylight robbery. As to the match itself, it just like any other loss: 3pts missed. We are still on pace with everyone (except possibly Chelsea) Ade will soon be back, along with Roque, and we are on course for a top 4 finish, with a possible run at the title. |
Make una dey enjoy your dubious win. Its nice to know this early not to expect fair officiating. Very soon water go find im level. With all the banning and injury time, we go still finish top 4. |
Eventually the game lasted 7+mins of injury time. ![]() |
Great game and Citeh deserved a point. They lost to poor time keeping. There is no way a sub could have taken 2 additional mins. |

Like I said, Citeh have enough depth to give ManU a run for there money. If Adebayor was available . . . . . . . . |
cant imagine why SAF feels foster is a future england keeper. The guy is hopeless in decision making |

Krayola:Their 4-3 win in madrid was due to luck and Barca taking their foot off the pedal. They are the most useless team in la liga. No wonder they couldn't beat APOEL in the CL. Even Sporting Gijon gave a more respectful perfomance. See Pathetico and Espanyol, both in the relegation zone. |
Atletico and Espanyol are both useless. Na only for derby dem go dey use strong head. No be 6-1 una beat dem last year? |
Zonal marking has the theoretical potential of being very effective, but its practical implementation usually leaves a lot to be desired e.g. - the opposition can create a mismatch by putting their best threat in the zone of your weakest defender - reaction to second balls across the box and change of angles by a CK taken short often present problems as the importance of different zones depends on the angle of delivery and your player will likely have little time to reorganize. - Players are by nature man markers and tend to react to players, and when asked to follow the ball, could follow it out of their zone. - since the zones are not delineated physically, it some times leads to confusion with two people going for the same ball or no one going for it This does not mean that man marking doesn't have its own problems e.g the ease of opposition to lose their markers as everyone is jostling, and the risk of a penalty for the confusion. For me the best approach is an hybrid, in which you use your key aerial defenders (usually CBs) to man mark the key 1-3 opposing threats (e.g. main striker and CBs) and apply zonal marking to the rest. |
bgees:Rafa tried to sell him the previous summer and for two summer pursued Barry. The die has been cast since then. Alonso was going to leave at the first quality offer that came. Even when fit, Aquilanni is not of the same quality of Alonso. He is a 25yr old that still showing potential and is yet to deliver on his promise. we dont do zonal marking everytime we playe. knee jerkers blame zonal marking everythime we let in a goal from a corner.Rafa is a strong proponent of zonal marking (even from his days as a youth coach in Madrid), and Liverpool plays Zonal defence on all wide set pieces and corner kicks. |
bgees:being a fan should not equal being delusional. Selling Alonso and buying Aquilani has made liverpool a weaker team. It is obvious that Lucas is not as good as Alonso, and Aquilani is yet to play his first game. |
