khanye:This rivals the Ibra deal as the worst deal of the summer. £20 million for someone still showing potential at 25yrs and so injury probe that he played just 20 games last season, and has averaged less than 25 in recent years, is stupidity. I guess they needed to replace kewell ![]() |
dayokanu:He said Van Bommel was captain and first choice ahead of Tymoschuk i.e. Tymoschuk gets the bench. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=665071&cc=5901 |
edoyad:You have mistaken mismanagement for competitiveness. The reason why the liverpool and manU have such a small fraction is that the other winners like leeds and newcastle got mismanaged, or like sunderland were just crooks. Whichever way they got relegated to the lower leagues, which is where manU and liverpool are heading very soon. It is only you that would think the likes of sheffield wednesday and burnley make the EPL competitive ![]() |
dayokanu:Yea right and that is why your management are like some jilted girl friend who cant stop talking about us.The players want to play for Madrid and the clubs want a piece of our money. Even your bayern were willing to sell, we were the ones who broke it off, cos your tin god ribery wasnt worth what you think he was. |
edoyad:both players you cited were regulars for their clubs. The success of players in a league also depends on the team and the style of play in that league or should we then say that serie A reject like Henry or viera , who became stars in EPL means the serie A is stronger? If you can amass 90+ points in the league, means that other teams in your league are much weaker than you. the spread of points in the league shows the relative strength of the clubs in the league. You talk about 2 clubs winning La liga, but it is better than a league where only one club has won 11 of the past 16 editions. |
Nice games today - After going down 3-0 in the first 15mins, Maccabi pulled a stunning comeback to win 4-3 and progress to the play-offs, - Sporting broke twente hearts when they scored an equalizer 3mins into injury time via their keeper who had gone up for the corner kick. Twente had led 1-0 from a goal scored just 2mins into the game. |
Anybody that watches footie knows that Alonso was a key part of the midfield triangle that played so well last season, and there is no suitable replacement in his mould. It took Rafa 5 seasons to get it right and now he would be forced to change things. Unlike AW, the likes of Rafa arent too flexible when it comes to formations. Unless they can find a turn key replacement, Liverpool will go back to being the weakest of the big four. Right now Arsenal is looking better than them. |
and liverpool joins arsenal in the struggle o maintain a CL spot. Only chelsea seem to have improved the squad compared to lst season. Strongest league in europe is between EPL and La liga, and based on UCL performance, it is EPL. But the La Liga is more competitive than EPL. The gap between the top teams and bottom teams is wider in the EPL ( clubs win the league with 90+pts, while others are relegated with 30+pts) whereas the difference is smaller in la liga, wher you win with 80+ pts an clubs get relegated with 40+pts Liverpool and ManU are likely to go under, not because of they are unviable, but because of their ownership structure and the way they are managed. ManU is owned by the glazers, and nobody can stop them from doing whatever they want with their property. By the times the likes of Glazers and Hick let go of those clubs, the damage might be too bad to save the clubs. @Sauron madrid doesnt have a debt of 500m euros. It was about 100ME before the buyings started, and after the summer spending spree, it should be about 250ME |
Fee agreed with liverpool for Xabi Alonso. He will have his medical tomorrow. That should be the final buy for the summer. Remains to sell off a few dead weight: VDV and Hunte, and Negredo or RVN. |
FBS:Tie the buyout clause to the length of the contract and the players salary, and make it more deterministic across europe. It can then be used as an indirect transfer cap (since you wont buy a player above his buyout value) and force clubs to put their money where their mouth his. |
dayokanu:He negotiated his release from his contract. |
The buyout clause is what I feel UEFA needs to tackle to peg the transfer fees that seem to be spiraling. When a player has a buyout clause of 300m, then it looks cheap when you buy him for 100m |
That Leeds team was a joy to watch, and quite a shame how things turned out for them in subsequent years. |
Salgado has cancel his contract |
and the exodus continues |
We no ask nor need ur help. I know it is painful that despite una treble success, the world don forget you before june. Instead everybody want to talk about madrid. Your president cant stop making comments, and even your coach has joined. Na our money we take buy the stars, leave us to complain if we feel we are not getting value for our money. Its funny how clubs like barca, after 15 second s of fame, feel they have arrived, whereas they are nowhere to be found. August is here, liga go soon start, so make una leave am for am |
Leave the door open and see the trash the wind blows in: a useless obertans and two ibratwats. Why dont you let madrid fans worry about madrid problems eh? I beg go siddon and think about the failures of your clubs The Buncha useless Obertans, could only sign a paralympian, who can only score against weak asian teams and was no where to be found against bayern or 'the lesser shall envy the greater' Barca, who in trying to be like us, wasted all their money and lost their top striker, in exchange for the greatest choker and flop artist the game as ever known I beg carry you envy komot for the thread jare. |
Not being specific to the EPL, but big clubs should be made to pay compensation to the small clubs they poach these kids from. |
If ancelloti is bent on playing a diamond, then he has to bench lampard (though he could try playing him as LM ahead of Malouda) and buy an AM/trequartista. He might also consider a more creative DM in preference to Mikel. |
To put the match in perspective - While Juventus were missing Sissokho and Diego, we on the other were much further from our starting eleven missing key players like Casillas, Ramos, Albiol, Arbeloa, Marcelo and Kaka. - they are well into their pre season preparation, while this is only our 4th match under a new coach. - Juventus were only interested in hard tackles and handling the ball. - the poor condition of the pitch hampered our game more than the italians that favored putting the ball in the air. Yet, we did well in open play, and only lost to two goals from set pieces, something that still needs to be worked on. The team has improved with every single game and will be in much better form by the start of the season particularly with the addition of Xabi Alonso. |
Wht is there to explain? |
dayokanu:The rant of a man seeking attention. Madrid has since moved on from Ribery and the guy is still trying to use our name to get press attention. ![]() When he learns that there is more to a player's value than what he can do on the field, then we can do business. ![]() |
Former England manager Bobby Robson, who has fought a long-running battle against cancer, has died at the age of 76. Robson had contracted the disease for the fifth time. https://d.yimg.com/i//ng/sp/eurosport/20090731/25/69df031e7ab0b1949865a37927541076.jpg He coached several teams including -Fulham -Ipswich Town ( FA Cup 1978, UEFA Cup 1981) -England -PSV Eindhoven -Sporting Lisbon -FC Porto (Cup of Portugal 1994, Portuguese Championship 1995 and 1996) -FC Barcelona (Spanish Super Cup 1996, Copa del Rey 1997, European Cup Winners' Cup 1997) -PSV Eindhoven (Dutch Championship 1991 and 1992) -Newcastle United |
cos ur team hosted and won a preseason game on penalties is why we no go hear word again? ![]() |
I think manU need to get a solid ball winner. There low possession in both games of the tournament were not encouraging. |
Bayern looking like the typical Van Gaal team - bark worse than its bite ![]() |
Which raises the question of why they sold gourcuff to bordeaux. |
With the new format, it will be harder for the likes of Arsenal to get into the group stages, as they will be playing opposition from stronger leagues. |
We have a new squad that is more balanced and better. The only question is how long it would take for them to blend. Also we have a coach who knows what he is doing and has a good track record in the UCL. We have the recipe, ingredients and chef. All that remains is to let things stew ![]() |
Heinze is joining Marseille |
Real Madrid’s Gabriel Heinze To Complete Marseille Move In Coming Hours – Report According to respected French sports paper L’Equipe, Gabriel Heinze will finalise a move to Olympique de Marseille from Real Madrid in the coming hours. The Argentine defender has been linked with a move to the Stade Velodrome already this summer, but it appeared that his wage demands had killed any prolonged interest Marseille had in the veteran defender. The Parisian-base publication states that, though the deal has been largely kept a closely guarded secret, there have been “very constructive” discussions between all the parties involved in the switch. Heinze is believed to be on €4.2 million-per-season at the Santiago Bernabeu, a figure out of OM’s price range. Marseille have already moved to strengthen the heart of their defence this summer by signing Souleymane Diawara from Ligue 1 champions Bordeaux. However, Didier Deschamps has intimated this week that he wanted to add a further central defender to his squad, and though Pape Diakhate of Dynamo Kyiv has been strongly linked with a move to OM, it seems that Heinze may be his man. Indeed, L’Equipe states that the deal for Diakhate has broken down due to an inability of OM to match Dynamo’s €10m asking price. It now seems only a matter of time before Heinze becomes the final piece in Marseille’s puzzle. https://i.media.goal.com/g/38264_news.jpg http://goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2009/07/30/1412567/real-madrids-gabriel-heinze-to-complete-marseille-move-in-coming- Good riddance to bad rubbish ![]() |
Arsenal's debt is currently at £318 million with interest payments of about £17 million. Missing out on the UCL would cost Arsenal over £100 million in revenues. |
