Car Talk › Re: Toyota Corolla Is The Most Reliable Car In America: Ford The Cheapest To Maintai by billyG(m): 10:54pm On Feb 26, 2016*. Modified: 7:23pm On Mar 08, 2016 |
zhiggy1: The annual CarMD Vehicle Health Index Manufacturer & Vehicle Reliability Rankings survey is exactly what it sounds like: a ranking of makes and models, according to the number of repairs they've needed.
To dole out those scores, CarMD studies thousands of car problems and repair bills related to vehicles' "check engine" lights. The data is provided by CarMD's nationwide network of technicians. This year, the company analyzed over 251,000 incidents on vehicles from model-years 1996 to 2015, and there were plenty of interesting findings:
Hyundai produced the most reliable carsof any automaker, just edging out silver medal-winner Toyota for the top spot.Honda, Ford, and Chrysler rounded out the top-five most dependable brands. That said, among the top-ten ranked automakers, Ford vehicles were the cheapest to repair, with an average cost of $309.55. Nissan vehicles earned the dubious distinction of being the most expensive, at a price of $430.83. In terms of specific makes and models, CarMD judged the 2015 Toyota Corolla to be the most reliable on the market. Other top-five winners included the 2013 Lexus ES, 2014 Toyota Prius, 2013 Toyota Avalon, and 2013 Honda Fit. It wasn't all good news for Toyota, though: of the top 100 cars, the least reliable was found to be the 2013 Toyota Prius C. Other poor performers were the 2014 BMW 428, 2014 Buick Encore, 2011 BMW 528, and 2013 Mazda Mazda5. In terms of sheer numbers, Toyota took home the trophy for putting 18 models in CarMD's top 100. Ford followed with 14, and Honda with 10. And for the curious, here are CarMD's rankings by segment:
Compact: 2015 Toyota Corolla Minivan: 2014 Chrysler Town & Country Sedan: 2013 Toyota Avalon Luxury: 2013 Lexus ES Full-Sized SUV: 2008 Volvo XC70 Wagon/Crossover SUV: 2014 Ford Edge Truck: 2014 Ford F-150 Hybrid: 2014 Toyota Prius Electric: 2013 Ford C-MAX That 1 na 4 america that kind phoney rating no apply here. |

rapistbuhari: An advance team headed by the finance minister is expected to travel to Negotiate the loan and President Buhari would travel to China to sign the loan in March, Chinese TV's website, cctv-africa.com has reported.
According to the report "President Muhamadu Buhari recently presented an ambitious budget to Nigeria’s parliament. At 30 Billion dollars, it is the highest Budget proposal in Nigeria’s history.
"Analysts think Buhari’s administration is attempting to spend its way out of recession by investing a huge chunk of the budget in infrastructure but he doesn’t have access to funds for that. The deficit stands at $5 billion for now but it could rise up to $15 as Buhari’s administration plans to spend billions on infrastructure and uplifting social service.
"Nigeria’s economy has been contracting consistently for more than a year – Rapidly falling oil prices taking a toll on the economy.Crude oil accounts for 90% of the country’s exports and 70% of its earnings.
"Development expert Jayi Gaskia thinks Nigeria needs the loans for immediate budgetary support but a major bailout could be imminent unless a resurgence in crude oil prices happens soon.

kahal29: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff, is still under investigation for alleged corruption.
Sheriff was arrested by the commission in June last year for alleged embezzlement of public funds during his eight years as governor of Borno State but was granted bail.
His government was said to have received over N300bn from the Federation Account between 2003 and 2011, an amount alleged to have been mismanaged by Sheriff.
The ex-governor of Borno State was subsequently detained from June 3 to June 4, 2015 and released on administrative bail without being charged to court.
The EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, had said at the time, “We can ask him to come back anytime we need him.”
Speaking with our correspondent on Monday during a telephone interview, Uwujaren said, “Sheriff is still under investigation.”
When asked to explain how far the commission had gone in the probe, Uwujaren said, “I cannot disclose the details of the investigations for now but the matter is already in the public domain.”
A reliable source within the anti-graft agency told one of our correspondents that Sheriff’s probe was not a witch-hunt but a normal criminal investigation.
He said, “Criminal matters do not have statutes of limitation. If a crime took place 30 years ago, we can re-open it at any point in time and that is what is happening.”

Politics › Re: Ali Modu Sheriff Must Go Next Month - PDP Leaders. by billyG(m): 12:26pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
cosby02: There are indications of a looming crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a group of concerned stakeholders and elders of the party have called on the new National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, to resign.
The group, under the aegis of PDP Rescue Group led by Wilberforce Juta, who also contested for PDP chairmanship, made the call during a news conference on Sunday, February 21, in Abuja.
According to Juta, the PDP leaders were upset about Ali Modu Sheriff’s appointment as PDP national chairman, Premium Times reports. He said: “Most PDP members did not see in Sheriff a model of impeccable integrity that the party badly needed to lead it at this critical moment.
“We are upset by the decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in appointing Ali Modu Sheriff as national chairman.
“We are convinced that this decision is against the will and wish of the generality of members.
“We know for a fact the North-East Zonal wing, having been directed by the National Caucus of the party to forward nominees from the zone, did not nominate Modu-Sheriff for the position of national chairman.
“Consequently, Modu-Sheriff should do the needful by stepping down honourably as it is evident that party members nationwide have overwhelmingly rejected him.
“Having the PDP destroyed by acts of error of judgment being witnessed now, is denying Nigeria of a strong opposition party that is badly needed if Nigeria’s democracy is to be strengthened and all tendencies toward civilian dictatorship checked.
“The crisis must challenge all party members to action to halt the party from further drift. The plan of PDP Rescue Group is to mobilise party members and leaders to help attain this noble goal.
“It is, therefore, critical if the PDP must come back to national reckoning, that we remodel its leadership on the platform of honesty as required by the party manifesto.”
“It is our considered view that we endeavour to elect only those with discernible traits.” Juta called for early congresses and national convention of the party to elect new leaders as the term of the current leadership was due to end in March 2016.
He said: “Under no guise should the tenure of the current leadership of the party be extended, if we must make the needed fresh beginning.”
The imposition of Sheriff as the acting chairman of the major opposition party was not well received by many Nigerians who took to their social media platforms to pour out their feelings.
