lawland:Thank you for your response @lawland. Do you know any affordable university that offers computer science program for international undergraduate student? |
Dear all, I'm new to the thread. I had read some post and follow up some answers, but non of them is specific to my need. I'm already 30, without a tertiary education degree. Can I secure a student visa to Australia for undergraduate program. Do I stand a chance or it is already to late for me? Still have the strong urge to study and I have saved up some funds to sponsor myself. Suggestions will be appreciated. |
Why trying to clear my doubts about the compromised video, I followed the evidence for further findings and I came up with a better and high quality version of the video. Still i'm not able to decide if it was her or not. Permission to post video? |
No concrete information about the crime those boys actually committed No evidence to show the boys where robbers or cultist on assault mission No image of the 13 already arrested. What sort of journalism/investigation is this? |
I think the OP PC is hit by a spyware that runs advert on any site he/she visits. Just checked wikipedia.org no sign of advertisement. |
+1 @dhtml for suggesting crazy browser for IE6 testing. I have been thinking how to install IE6 on top my IE 9. Thanks for pointing that out. |
Arjen Robben Holger Badstuber . . . .won't be in the final. I'm happy for robben! ![]() |

What about those who need to add weight? |
The aesthetics of the new nairaland, look too old fashioned for a modern discussion board. Personally, i think the graphics and the layout is a pain to the eyes. The first day I visited the new nairaland, I almost ran way. It was even worst when I visited one of the topics. But, why I mine still here? Simply because of the contents and some interesting people here. I wonder what would have happen if I was a newcomer. |
It looks like a simple regular expression or a string, other than that, there is nothing coded about that code; if it is a php code. |
. . . . . and finally! I I have been unban after 5 days. Wetin I really do to deserve a ban. This spam bot, when I go catch am? He go regret why he dey work for nairaland. |
Okay okay, i return to the thread. I am no longer angry at anyone. @binaflexia, what i said about my site was from a programmers point of view, my site is plain yes - i made it plain and simple, but if you browse through that site carefully and if you are a programmer, you will discover its uniqueness, and yes, people visit everyday and interact with one or more section of the site, that is why i have good ranking. As a programmer, i am more concerned about functionalities of my personal website, and the site is serving its purpose as far as i am concerned, but that does not mean there is no space for improvement on the graphics (but believe me, that is not a priority). Note some features of the site, it does not take forever to load despite slow connections, it degrades fairly well if no javascript, it has a fairly manageable mobile version. . . My website also has archives of stuffs in the blog and elsewhere, and this is why it generates a lot of traffick. You can just type "" into google and see what it will give you. Another way to review your website is to use the woorank tool - www.woorank.com Now, as a web-programmer, i split up work with a frontend developer. BTW that interswitch website has mad traffick and it is done with CMS - now, I cannot immagine someone that is not vast in programming knowlege being able to pull off a CMS with the structure of that site as it is - that was the only thing i did on that site - and boy that was the toughest site i ever made into CMS. I cannot explain in public the other gismos i placed in the site. @doncigalo, as dual core pointed out we are sometimes limited by what the client provides. For some clients they do not provide enough money to get professional frontend developers into the job. Take a look at this site for instance - www.3stiches.com - it was developed by one of my web students, he has similar skills as me, but he is more of frontend than backend. However, the only external help he required was the SEO, and that same OMAVO guy helped him to do that, i linked them together. If the client does not pay enough, we make do with what we have. One of my former professors for instance is more or less compelling me to do a site for her for 25k, now do you think i will be able to hire a professional frontend developer if the price is not raised These are practical things we face in Nigeria that affects the final outlook of the site. If you just started working, you will not realize all these stuffs. But whatever the case is, just make sure you satisfy your client and get PROPERLY paid for whatever services you provide.
Me I no dey vex too . . .net ranking information from woorank.com 71,057th most visited website in the World 617th most visited website in Nigeria . . .not bad. I know nada about SEO. Observation about www.3stiches.com. Though the frontend designer did a good job, but the contents within the white main content area has no breathing space from the content area margins. Secondly, the white main content area doesn't actually go down well with the background image. They really doesn't look good together. My personal observation. |

Dual Core:Yeah! I'm still learning and so I will always ask for assistance from the people I know are ahead of me in the game. Though I have decided to stop asking code related questions in nairaland. I'm still thankful to you and dhtml for the time and efforts you put in to answer my questions and I look forward for more useful advice from you guys. |
She has a point. It all about concept, ideas and also staying abreast with the latest web technology. We seem to lack it and it spans across many professions and not only our web designers. Instead of attack the messenger, focus on the message.
I don't think staying abreast with lastest web technology is the problem, but trying to specialise in various technology at thesame time so that you can do all by yourself. Using myself as an example, I learnt css, html, php, mysql, javascript, jquery, photoshop, dreamweaver and more recently, I started learning c#. I do all this just to ensure that no job relating to web/software development that might come my way will be delegated to someone else. Not until will start working in group or collaborate, I don't think will can really produce fantabulous jobs. This is what the white guys do, but over here? every man answer him papa name. Who get your time! |
Caramba. My website is a developer's site, nothing is wrong with it - www..net - has a blog but it is not a blog - and it has good alexa ranking too. I dont have space to update my portfolio, but new sites i will add to my portfolio include:- - www.interswitchng.com (The Main Interswitch Website) - Yes, I said it - and in the public too. - Afribank / Mainstreet Bank - http://www.mainstreetbanklimited.com/ - still work in progress - www.bank.dhtmlkits.com Na why i dey laff for some of una be that. . . .werrin be my own? As long as cash dey enter. . . .and i am not doing rubbish for my clients. Aside of all that, i cannot find a basis for comparison between http://www.sabidgroup.com/ and http://www..net
No matter the purpose of a website, a good design will always make the site more interesting to it's users. Me, I'm not a good interface designer myself, but I recognise and appreciate one when I see it. www.dhtmlexreme.net interface? it's nah. . . nah. . . .nah. It looks like a poorly edited blog template. Check out www.css-tricks.com, also a developer's site and tell me your observations. And for the comparison. I built mine from scratch while yours is a edited template. Right? |

It's a sad news to me. Though I was desperate to start seeing good results and some positive play. These were not forthcoming. AVB has lost the mental strength to lead the team. He just have to go, though I was sad to see him go. I wish you all the best in your future jobs. |
R.I.P I hope you find eternal peace |
Legendary pop singer Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday at a Beverly Hills, California, hotel. She was 48. Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent" and that the cause of her death is being investigated. Report has it that the entertainer had struggled with addiction problems. She was one of my favourites. R.I.P Whitney. http://edition.cnn.com/2012/02/11/showbiz/whitney-houston-dead/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 |
I really love to do this on my own. Need suggestions |

I'm planning to build a payment receipt/booking application for a media company with several branches in different locations. The application should be able to move data across the network/internet to a central database where the administrator/accountant in a different location will be able to see the result of the entire job for the day from each branch. Application will run on windows environment. Will be able to send result of the booking to a Point Of Sales printer for print output. Now, I'm confused about choosing the right programming language to accomplish this task. I'm between beginner/intermediate level in PHP, I know HTML/CSS and JavaScript. I have tried to do this in PHP but, I'm face with several challenges and I fear for the POS part since PHP application run on the web browser. I don't know if python will be best suited for this and how long will it take someone with my experience level to pick up python. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. |

Therages:
Taking a bird's eye view (I would have thought you would post the html code for the form): 1) Were there any values in the form fields when you tried to access their values? 2) IMHO, I think it makes more sense for you to: Use the DOM, via an ID, to get a count of fields that aren't empty, store those in an array, then loop over that array to get their values Direct access to any vars when it comes to programming in general, doesn't make for readable/understandable code
Thank you very much for your effort. Though I've already done it but I really appreciate you taking your time to reply my post |
Still not working. Any help? |
Therages:Thanks for your time. I will try that and get back to you. |
I have 3 HTML form inputs fields that is dynamically generated by a "add more" button, with naming for the fields name as fieldName, fieldName1, fieldName2, fieldName3, and so on. Now, I'm trying to retrieve the value from this fields with JavaScript, using the script below. var bookingForm = document.forms['formName']; var qty = bookingForm.fieldName +'i'.value; with the 'i' been a generated numeric number by a for loop when I use alert(qty), it returns NaN, when I'm expecting the value for fieldName1, fieldName2, and so on. But when I use; var qty = bookingForm.fieldName.value I can get the value in that field but get NaN when I try to concatenate 1,2,3, with the fieldName. Any help will be very much appreciated. |
