Diasporan: OP its not in anyway sane to tell your children what you earn.of what benefit is it to them?I remember years back when i was in my 3rd year in the University i summoned the courage to ask my mum how much she earn. This became necessary on my path because my mum was becoming a spend thrift on classy clothings and jewelries so i could'nt hold back the urge to ask her.The very day she told me i increased my demand from her infact she regretted telling me cause i never thought that she was earning such a huge amount monthly.Again i remember visiting my cousin in Nigeria when i was having a convo with his kids right in the presence of their dad one of them about 16 years old chap just spilled the bean on how much he earn.He was so mad cause he was telling me he had no money then. The following conversation ensued
COUSIN- I don't really have much cash with me infact we have not been paid
SON-Daddy how come you have finished spending the 1.3 million you were paid last week?Is that not what you told us you earn monthly?Na wa for daddy...o
COUSIN-shut up your mouth. You better know when to talk or not if not i will chop off your mouth Interesting |
I honestly can't imagine, even in my wildest imagination, why it is necessary for any child to know this information.
Some say so they know what you can afford and what you can't... So you can afford $4 million car, you will buy it for your child? If the answer is no, of course not...then how does the child knowing how much you make come into play here. I'm sorry oh but affordability is the only basis you make the decision on what you buy your kids...then you should check yourself.
Children do not need to know how much their parents are making and the way you bring them up, the values you teach them should not be based on how much you have in you bank account.
Juts my opinion.
killed it |

bukatyne: You are collobrating my point.
I don't know where people get the fallacious idea that all children from broken homes are bitter or sad or failures.
An average home is already single parented with an absentee father. I also don't know how a home filled with bitterness and pain is better than a peaceful home with a single parent.
I guess it's the suffering and smiling attitude that let us hold on to things no longer existing.
A lot of homes are not conducive for living hence that's why we have a lot of bitter and psycho people around. hmm,,,,, I get your point but cannot see the value of a single parent home It is alien to me Sorry |

nwando: Have you walked into a home and a child of 12 years walks right by you without saying hello or good evening and the parent says nothing. That is now so common That is wrong Some sef the parent will say Chi Chi great aunty and chi chi gets angry and stomps off like a masquerade and the mom starts making excuses and pacifying Chi Chi the brat Na so we see am... if you ask me who i go ask Though some western kids prostrate when they greet Impressed...! nwando: That is the biggest mistake any parent can make Doing buddy buddy with the kids Some will even sit together and smoke Igbo or send their buddy to to buy the Igbo sef all in the name of modern parenting Some sef your child will carry woman and enter room Chopping under my roof korokoro I don't even want to know that your wee wee has grown beyond the size it was when I was baffing you inside the baffroom And you sure will not be bringing any omoge and entering no rooms in my house beyond the sitting room Are you mad? There was one funny thread too raised by one guy about children poking under their parents roof saying it is better you create a conducive environment for such in your home so that the kids dont get STIs See gbege.. nwando: Let me then modify it to say it will be irrelevant and irresponsible.
Irresponsible because growing children can go off so many directions with an information like that Haven't you heard of kids that planned and murdered their parents? Usually kids raised in affluence who were aware of it and had it at the center smart parents live below their means sometimes for the sake of the children Look around you, many children from very affluent homes end up as useless adults and failures This is one of the causes, they know the money is there ,it is thrown at them ,so they figure ,they don't have to work hard
Same way a child from parents who hears their parents fight over money constantly and argue over money will grow up with a baggage too, some thinking they are the cause of their parent's poverty.A child shouldn't grow up with some burden Children should be spared certain things. Something's are meant for the adults to handle so kids can be kids gbam!!! |

nwando: You are correct about that but there are some standard rules that don't fail and it is good to learn from the experience of others. There are certainly many good things in our culture that ought to be upheld,it is not all bad. There are Nigerian parents out here in the West that come over and forget our way of doing things and end up with wild uncontrollable children I don't believe in caging kids but there is a certain control a parent must institute to keep children in check at those growing years Many parents have paid dearly for it .
I have heard people say,you don't spank kids in America, you allow them to be themselves I hear some Nigerians say I am friends and buddies with my kids blah blah blah No way! I am primarily your parent not your friend and there is no mistaking what our roles are.
Well some people have spared the rod in the name of equal rights ,kids are and the kids are now in the penitentiary being spanked by the state.
We only have one chance and one opportunity to raise kids At least that is my philosophy If we fail to correct them, the state penitentiary will take over and the same people who says reason with your children, don't spank, allow them do as they wish etc would call you an unfit parent because your kids are delinquents . Damn..I love this post Requoted again I am primarily your parent not your friend and there is no mistaking what our roles are. That friend bull crap is a result of sissy parenting We be mate?! |
Family › Re: Should Parents Tell Their Kids How Much They Earn?? by biolabee(m): 5:19pm On May 02, 2013 |
nwando: What are kids supposed to do with that information?
It will be very irresponsible of any parent to tell the children what they earn or don't earn. That is an adult discussion The job of a child is to be a child and not to hear your money woes if you have one or hear about your millions and billions.
My husband and I make a conscious effort not to discuss finances in front of the kids If they make a demand,a simple no or not at this time or wait till next month should be enough I don't have to bring out my pay stub and log into my bank account to prove to them I don't have money to meet their demands at that time neither do I have to rave about the millions sitting in our account and how we are better than the neighbors across the railway tracks. GBAM!! Its the prevalence of neo modernistic parenting where parents see themselves not as authority figures but hand holders A child is throwing a tantrum - try to explain A child is bullying her chlass mates - try to explain basically setting no boundaries Life coach your kids through life bla bla bla crap |

bad meat: Will rather teach them how to earn, than to let them know hw much I earn Nice one brah! alosnika: Why would you tell your children how much you earn!!! Then tell them when you wan sleep with their mama now. Infact, give them the salary when you receive it at the end of the month and let them give you your share...infact start reporting to your children.
Sometimes people dont understand their roles as parents. Your roles and obligations as good parents have nothing to do with disclosure of certain information which could eventually destroy your family if care isnt taken. Certain information are better kept between husband and wife. Good points! unnecessary information Some couples are even struggling at this level and you want to compound it by telling kids who will tell their friends Some kids already use My daddy is a manager, your own na gateman to oppress each other then na this kain one u wan add SMH... |

dayokanu: So how is Bale different from Ronaldo? Ah ah,, Ronnie has skill now.. his step overs have improved.. Dribbling percentage is higher than Bale too He has the highest shots in Europe over range of 25+ yards (200+ shots) and his heading ability is phenomenal He may not be liked but he is miles ahead of Baale In my opinion, he is the best technical player in the world for the Naruto Fans he is RockLee.. a genius of hard work Messi is just a genuis of ability .. innate Born to Play |
