aliondo: tnx bro...to be sincere, dunno my way about it cos its my first time
a first timer cost me a trip to the finals lat year...i no go name names, but she dey did forum. I was expecting to win easy that week. Lost so bad I had to face Skywalker early
Some quick rules: The naija factor is at work in this league - Some ppl will claim to have never played before. Dont believe them o...its a ploy to let your guard down so they can flog you - Other folks will go 419 full tilt, attempting to control 2 or more accounts at once - we have instituted our own DSS to fish out such nefarious activities this time
SmooshCHN: Regular customer we're all good Bruh. That Killryhmz dude went MIA. I took my time to text him on whatsapp, sms and even called his phone, no reply..
SmooshCHN: Babe where you dey since? You disappeared after I sent you fishing during the playoffs. I peaked at the right time even Lucious couldn't hold me till Joephemzyz jinx it with Devin Booker 70pts game.
Anyways, it was fun Let's hope birdman and joephemzyz don't play games this time.
Roland17: In which world has Melo played defense? Not with Syracuse, Nuggets, and definitely not with the Knicks. If Melo joins OKC, I think alongside George it only assures their post season presence, however, they are not close to a competition in the western conference. If OKC were in the east, that would be a different conversation.
Unfortunately true. While Melo will ALWAYS be an extraordinary weapon on offense, he is not, and will never be that over the hump guy - even if he maddeningly looks like he has had the ability to be that guy for the last decade
Decale: Melo to Thunder for Kanter, Mcdermott and pick?
He shoulda gone to the Rockets, dammit
I know rite...
But its the right move for Houston - we would have had to give up Gordon and Capela in addition to getting crappy Anderson off our plate, for Melo who is no longer in his prime. Nah..
All from one season people! You lot will miss this man when hes gone. Maybe then you'll give him the respect he deserves!
4:15 gives me goosebumps!
the only thing holding lebron back is lebron. I hope he gets a lot of hate this year, because he puts away his inner child and goes to work under adversity. When things are easy, he relaxes and starts playing games.
I am not even talking about winning useless rings, im talking about mogul type dreams...instead of arguing with small boys about points and mvps and rings
Eruditor: Only Lebron will win a ring with GSW and he would do it playing his own way and not Kerr's. GSW will not win near 73 games in a regular season with Lebron. Draymond Green would not be the player that he is, playing with Lebron.
Read me clearly; take Curry off GSW last season and leave the rest of the team with KD (any of the PGs you mentioned above) and the rest of the roster against Cavs. Cavs win in 6 or 7.
Curry took 2 almost 3 games away from SAS in 2013/14 (their championship year) dropping 44 and 42 in 2 of the 6 games. A 51-win GSW team because of him if you remember (first year they truly handed their franchise to him). To put this feat in context, that same year, Lebron and his Miami Heatles lost 4-1 to the same Spurs. 4 of those losses were blow-outs!
I cringe to see the other names you mentioned there even as I wonder how many of them control the type of gravity SC does. How many free-way dunks did Iggy and KD have these playoffs simply because defenders would rather stop Curry from shooting a 3?
I said it before, Kawhi is a phenomenal robot but he simply does not do enough to add anything to GSW; The skill set he brings is not wanting in the team.
Green defends more positions than him. KD is a better offensive weapon. Curry has more gravity. Klay is more precise a spot-up shooter and Kawhi is not a center standing at 6'7. He does not pass the ball better than any of the starters bar Klay (and this is even debatable).
Put Curry on SAS as PG, and you would see how good a shooter 'long-arms' Green is. Put Curry on SAS and see Aldridge make 25ppg on 15spg. Heck, Spurs did very well against so many teams (Rockets) without Kawhi, KD went down and GSW started winning by greater margins and with more consistency. I fear to know the struggles KD would go through without Curry on this team.
For evidence, watch GSW VS OKC 2016 WCF. And just incase, you won't watch it, KD loses the ball far easily when he is doubled or tripled. GSW used that strategy in that SCs 46 point win against OKC at Chesapeake. We reverted to it in games 5, 6 and 7 against OKC in the comeback.
Without the gravity that Curry brings to the team, thus freeing KD, sure KD would get buckets (he is mega-skilled). But he would do it at far less efficiency and with a large margin of error.
while i disagree with your conclusion, I agree that having defense paying attention to Curry opens up things for Green and co. I still believe the team is so loaded up that the other players I mentioned would have the same effect, but I see your point
Kawhi in SAS, is yet to be the player Tony Parker was to them and Curry has already eclipsed Tony Parker in the all-time rankings for PGs.
Would GSW swap Curry for Kawhi? They won't even swap him for Lebron. I thought KD was being courted by the Clippers when CP3 was there, why did he not go there?
Now IT, Kyrie would have won a ring with GSW in Curry's stead? What in the last 4 years of basketball gives you the boldness to say so?
So which is the system player between Lebron and Kobe if I am to go by your leanings? Which of them was more dominant over time?
Kawhi is a definite top 5 player in the NBA currently but that is where it stops. If he continues at this rate in 2 more seasons we may revisit where he stands but I can't run amok in extolling him beyond what he has actually achieved.
James Harden was a bad game 5 OT away from outplaying him over the course of 6 games and I am not going to make him a God because of his NBA Finals MVP when Iguodala has one as well and is not even an Angel.
nah, man, take the emotion out of it a little. Are you saying Kyrie on Warriors, or IT, or CP3 or Lebron or Kawhi on Warrios will not win a ring? Cmon now
rotimi9: Tracy macgrady last night was inducted in the NBA hall of fame.one of my favorite players,he was one of the best players to not win a championship.did u know that there was a time when people argued about him being better than Kobe Bryant.but injuries ship wrecked his career just like Drose.one of the saddest stories in NBA history.
wao! I missed that. the way this guy played was beautiful
He didnt win a ring because of injuries - Tmac could take over any game at any time (he schooled Kobe every time they matched up, EVERY TIME), but he could never sustain his mental edge game after game. I love what this guy did in Sudan some years back
Look at it another way - if the warriors could get Curry for Kawhi, would they do it? It spurs could swap Curry for Kawhi, would they bite. I say yes, warriors would do it. Spurs would not.
Comparing kawhi and curry is hard to do. kinda like comparing lebron and kobe. One is a special offensive weapon. The other is a special system player. Offense is flashy, and easily distracts you from true value. But the league has had lots of special offensive weapons, but the system players are much more dominant over time. If Curry is looking really good right now, its not just his sharpshooting skills - its the fact that the warriors have loaded up. Kawhi with warriors personnel would win rings to, as would CP3, Kyrie, IT, etc
Bottom line, if you are a GM, and you have a solid roster ready to win a 'ship, you pick the system superstar, Kawhi, over the offensive weapon Curry every time.
I am not sure which is lower- heartlessly selling off your team leader who played in the face of great personal loss and injury, or trying to spray perfume on a rotten egg deal, purposely keeping information you had an obligation to share secret so you could take your opponents team second best player away. But its Boston, though, nothing new here.
Roland17: Like most super stars, Lebron has a big "ego". I see a scenario where the drive to prove a point to Kyrie compels him to stay with Cavs long term.
duuuude, i pray Lebron actually has this kinda drive. His ego never translates into meanness, he seems to joke it off and let it go. I feel the dude is too easy going to the annoyance of even his paddies. Sometimes, you just need that mean vengeful streak.
Btw, I wonder what this does to the bron kobe relationship, if there was ever any. Seem like Kobe played the role of pouring gasoline on this fire atsome point
Ersan: I just saw that. I am gutted man. Too friggin bad. SMH! I mean seriously! WTF?
looks are deceiving. Some people look mentally and physically strong on the outside, but inside, its another story - I cant tell you how dissapointing this is. I really thought this guy would be good for along time. I really thought this guy was the most mentally prepared champ the league had seen.
Roland17: Toe to Toe in which season? Championship season where the Warriors chocked?
This past season they were almost swept by the Warriors and finished second behind a less talented Celtics, was he standing Toe to neck?
When I speak of coaching, I am speaking of X and O's. Time out play calls, reading the game irrespective of the players on the roster.
Would T. Lue outcoach Brad if both coached same players and other factors remained constant?
Lue has the chip and that is important, however, that does not make him a better coach than Brad.
so warriors getting to the finals is choking. ok. and cavs getting to the finals back to back is choking. ok again.
who cares about standings in regular season. the important thing is when they met when it really counts, celtics went home, no?
you forget, that MANY times, celtics won the game because of 4th q hero ball by IT, because Brad has one peculiar weakness - he alsways looks zen like during the game, like he knows what hes doing. But when trouble happens, he looks the same, but it resembeles deer in headlights instead.
abeg stop judging how they look, and just stick to results na.....you really think wining a ring in your first year as coach is a joke?
anyways, we are looking forward to sampling the celtics this year. slurrrpp!!!
