As part of activities to mark the end of their service year, corps members in the ICPC Community Development Service group , Mowe, Ogun State , have donated 50 pieces of school uniforms , 100 exercise books, 10 packs of pens and six dozens of white socks to the pupils of Ibafo Community High School, Ibafo , Ogun State.
The president of the CDS group , Orumah Sylvester , said the initiative was to encourage the students and complement the efforts of the government. He said looking awkward among colleagues could easily trigger low self esteem among pupils , thus , the group had to intervene in its own simple way .
He said , “We do not want pupils to feel any sense of rejection simply because of lack of good uniforms and books. We decided to carry out this exercise as our major project to make them feel more comfortable among their peers and boost their morale in class .”
One of the recipients, Gbamigbade Muiz , who is a JSS2 pupil , expressed gratitude to the corps members for the gesture .
