Sir, there's a book I'm also looking for, i can't remember the title of the book or Author (most have been Cyprian Ekwensi or Elechi Amadi).

I remember, the story was about a boy who met a man, a Northerner in the train. This man goes on to tell the boy or amaze the boy with stories of his adventures. I think the train was traveling from Lagos - Kano.

I would be glad if you can help me recall the title of the novel, i won't call it a proper novel, it's more like a story book. Just a few pages long.

mallam ilyasu or somethin like dt abi... Omo we no dy read again!
where is African press/spectrum abeg? are dy still operating?

Arsenal is an accursed team. A team without a striker that can get you 20 goals a season isn't a contender. Arsenal will always be Arsenal - run to the top, then drop off later in the season.

Harry Kane isn't even playing, yet Tottie is very competitive. When he comes back, with Alli's form, they should do wonders with that young core.

I like Tottenham's chances. Ditto Liverpool - the best team in the EPL right now IMO. Man City are just an Aguero injury away from falling apart. And they just won a game in the last 5/6 games or so.
what you guys don't know is that arsenal currently has d right blend of players and d best squad depth in d league right now. Arsenal is not even 100% efficient yet, but d glimpses dy show of how ruthless they can be against Chelsea, and d 7mins against Sunderland showed dt d team has got a chance this season.

NB: Liverpool vs spurs showed that spurs can't cope with three injured first teamers right now.

lol....phone business is about the number of units sold and nigeria market is one of the major markets in the world. Samsung and the likes took their Corporate Social Responsibility for granted and gave d smaller phone manufacturers a chance in nigeria.... now imagine the profit if samsung had promoted their products in a tecno way.
I am sure samsung nigeria and their likes are really jealous of tecno success stories and really wished they had done the same, which was why they signed reminisce for their medium phone series (another epic fail).

one of the most brilliant article i ve read in a while, the man addressed the issues with some very good key points.
Look at the rapid development that happened in UAE,Norway,Saudi Arabia. Even the likes of Iraq, and Libya developed their military strength with the revenue derived from oil between 1999-2013 but what can Nigeria boast of?
Two years after a crash in oil market we r about experiencing a recession due to inadequate foreign reserve(where is the money??) and a private sector overdependent on govt money.

Foreign Affairs / Obama Dreams Of Opening A T-shirt Shack In Hawaii After He Leaves The Presidency by bjbukzy(m): 4:36am On Jul 04, 2016
There's been much speculation about what President Barack
Obama might do once his term is up in January - he's talked
about owning an NBA team and doing philanthropic work, but
he reportedly hasn't settled on a plan yet.
It seems, however, that he's eager to escape the stresses of
the highest office in the country.
In a story about how Obama spends his hours of solitude
after dark, The New York Times included this anecdote about
Obama's dream to open up a T-shirt shack in Hawaii once he
leaves the presidency.
Here's the relevant portion of the story:
There is time, too, for fantasy about what life would be like
outside the White House. Mr. [Rahm] Emanuel, who is now
the mayor of Chicago but remains close to the president, said
he and Mr. Obama once imagined moving to Hawaii to open
a T-shirt shack that sold only one size (medium) and one
color (white). Their dream was that they would no longer
have to make decisions.
During difficult White House meetings when no good decision
seemed possible, Mr. Emanuel would sometimes turn to Mr.
Obama and say, 'White.' Mr. Obama would in turn say,
'Medium.'

ha ha ha. you funny gan

you are struggling with common sparrow while i dey struggle with baby falcon sef. (kestrel)

btw I don't cage my bird. I used to tie it, but the sharp guy untied all the knots on its leg and ripped of its anklets.

so i just let him free around my house and balcony which is spacious enough and filled with plants.
(still training him though so i can take her outdoors later for hunting small prey).

ample amount of sunlight and perching spots to spread his wings.

A perch is necessary. mine needs a rough carpeted material. don't let your bird perch on the cold floor. it will get bumblefoot or some other sore condition.

make sure his dietery requirements are fulfilled.

In my case , my girl needs fresh meat, bones, insect , lizard and live prey if possible. (day old chick, rats, sparrow, etc.)

if giving just organ meat, add some vitamin powder or inject vitamin supplements into the food.

Always provide sufficient water.

summary:

-enough space
-perch
-shelter/box/nest
-nutritious food
-water
-sunlight/fresh air
-company . remember for birds : Boredom kills .
we once caught a bird in my secondary school and it turned out to be a falcon ; nigga killed a rat, and untied it ropes,nd escaped! we were all so scared dt some people didnt sleep in d room dt night cos some1 told us that it can eat anything(even humans)

PART 3

Like the pains i felt on my legs yesterday werent enough, these soldiers decided to add more pains by making us stand under the hot sun for hard labor, screaming 'sir yes sir!!!' and marching like i registered to join the Nigerian army and not NYSC. Right now i just feel complete numbness on my legs. E be like say blood no dey flow again.

Well, from the beginning, after sleeping last night like a dead person (so much so that i didnt even hear the bell ring), the bunker by my side woke me up to take my bath. BY 2AM!!! shocked cry I died a little inside). It was freezing cold outside. I didnt even bother having my bath cos i did that just 4hours ago (like 10pm). I just brushed then washed my face(and the rest wink ). Then went to bed for a quick nap only to be awoken by around 5am or was it 4am? Well i didnt check the time cos i was too busy rushing after i was told that we had to pack our belongings and go outside the gate to be addressed. I packed then went outside(good news:those who came a day before got to keep the positions we spent the night in).
When we were outside the gate, the state coordinator and some soldiers gave their semi long speech while we stood(beginning of the leg ache), then our bags were searched one by one for contrabands like knives, forks, etc. Before i travelled to the camp, I heard that extensions were not allowed(but they had just one charging point on every side of wall. That is four in a room of about 30 girls). See talk o! I sha jejely carried my extension and hid it in a hidden compartment of my box. I no fit shout.
After the searching and we entered the camp, registration started. Time for another queuing cry (I just weak). Sha i maneuvered my little body to the front line so it was quite quick for me. I supplied my documents,ID card, etc. After this, i headed to the store for another mini registration to collect our "prison uniform"(khaki, whites and the rest) at my allocated platoon queue. As usual, everything was way too big. I sha sha smiled with one soldier who changed my under sized white sneakers. Even at that it was still a lil bit undersized. At this point i just went to exchange with someone who had my size. After which i took my box to my room.
As for the khaki, i went to mammy market to get them slim fitted for #1500 angry (I never start to dey vex). While they sewed, i just went to go and chop better pounded yam with vegetable and egusi soup for #300. This food cool my temper small grin Then i went back to the tailor to test the cloth. While doing so, this soldier just came from nowhere. He shouted at the top of his Hausa accent voice, "All corpers file outside now". Omor no b small fear catch me o undecided Still wearing my khaki i file outside. He told us to form a line of threes and squat. See punishment. And for wat

Im so tired abeg. Will continue later. wink
was in no rush to do anything! adjusted my khaki after opening parade for #500 den....not veing khaki to wear sef was an excuse not to go to parade (dude used dat excuse for like 1week)

My set was the last to camp at Government College Jalingo before the move to the permanent site. You're lucky you have toilets. For the first 3 days on camp, it was basically short put and bathing very early in the morning like 3am unless you wait till evening until they constructed make-shift pit toilets which also doubled as bathroom too. I never tasted camp food, mammy was my point of call every morning and evening. Made sure I ate something strong in the morning to sustain me till night and something normal in the evening. Camp was fun generally. I was the platoon pest. I made sure I disturbed everybody in my platoon. Then the room I was posted to, met some crazy dudes. You could leave your life savings on your bed from morning till night. if u don't find it there, someone has kept it for you. We were like 48 or so in the room, some of us are still in touch till today.

lol...was there also in nov 2014.....i no sure if i sabi my platoon leader sef. just went to camp to sleep.
my roomates were also crazy and trustworthy.
