passyjango:
I do not even know what the issue here is. Why do you say Emeagwali is a fraud? The most important question to ask here is, did Emeagwali win a Gordon Bell Prize in 1989, which according to Times is considered a Nobel Prize for computing? For me any attack on the credibility of Emeagwali should focus on this, because it is based on this achievement that he based his claim as a Father of the Internet. It is not the number of degrees he had or whether he had PHD or whether it is marine or civil engineering that makes him a Father of the Internet. It is the Gordon Bell Prize that makes him one of the greatest scientific minds Nigeria has ever produced. So, to discredit Emeagwali, you have to focus on the prize, not on the degrees.

Focusing on his degrees and other little matters seems to me like a desperate attempt by his opponents. It also makes me align with people who claim that most of the accusations against Emeagwali is driven by malice, ignorance, and tribal hate. My Advice to anyone who wants to read about Emeagwali is to go to international media. That is where you know what is making the news. Nigerian Journalists are poorly paid and hence receive brown envelops to write whatever rubbish you desire.
Ok, was gonna retort, but, ure obviously insane. . . . . .

Brazil, darling of Nigerian drug traffickers

TOYOSI OGUNSEYE

TOYOSI OGUNSEYE writes that drug trafficking syndicates on the Brazil-Nigeria route are not having the best of their illicit trade in narcotics, as an attempt to smuggle drugs worth over N50m was nipped in the bud

How the cocaine was hidden

advertisement

Apart from being famed for football, Brazil has become the darling of Nigerian drug traffickers.

The recent interception by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, of 10.50kg of cocaine brought into the country from Brazil, lends credence to this fact.

The cocaine, which was imported from Brazil through a Qatar Airways flight, was concealed in 18 plastic pipes in a red luggage. According to authoritative NDLEA sources, it is the highest single seizure of cocaine made at the airport since January, with an estimated street value of N50m.

Similarly, a kilogramme of cocaine, concealed inside a pair of shoes and imported from Brazil aboard a KLM flight, was intercepted the same day.

According to the NDLEA Airport Commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar, the suspected traffickers that facilitated the importation of the illicit drugs are being interrogated by narcotic investigators.

He said, "The 10.50kg of cocaine was found in the luggage of one Ntinulu-Ojulu Michael Papulu Chukwu, 43, while the 1kg of cocaine hidden inside a pair of shoes was found in possession of one Isiwele Gabriel Hase, who is 40 years old."

Both Ntinulu-Ojulu and Isiwele allegedly left Brazil the same day, albeit, with different flights.

Unlike April 20, 2010 when 10kg of cocaine imported from Brazil in a Turkish Airways flight was abandoned at the Lagos airport, Ntinulu-Ojulu was arrested with the bag containing the 10.50kg cocaine. The 43-year-old suspect, who works in Brazil, said he was promised $5,000 to deliver the illicit luggage in Nigeria.

He said, "I have been working in Brazil for two years, but the little money I make is used to settle bills. I met a Nigerian for assistance and he asked me to take the bag to Nigeria for a fee of $5,000. I agreed to do it because of my financial predicament."

Isiwele, a photographer and a trader, allegedly concealed one kilogramme of cocaine found with him inside a pair of shoes. He has lived in Brazil for four years, he claimed, but said that he was unable to afford his rent and other financial responsibilities.

The Chairman of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, has promised that the agency's planned attacks on drug barons will be sustained, adding that the benefits of a drug-free society cannot be quantified. "We are going to sustain our attacks on drug traffickers until they quit the criminal act," Giade said. He also noted that the cases will be properly investigated, "as the suspects have international links."

Two other suspects, Amen Peace, 35, and Agwu Daniel Okafor that ingested 91 wraps of substances suspected to be narcotics, have been placed on observation by the anti-narcotic agency.

Amen was travelling with an Italian passport when a scanning machine revealed that he had ingested suspicious substances. According to Amen who was on his way to Rome in an Alitalia flight, his father is a Liberian, while the mother hails from Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. He is a welder in Italy, he said, while claiming to have been jobless for three months.

He said, "My father is a Liberian and my mother is from Edo State. This is my first time of trafficking in drugs. I came to Nigeria for a visit and decided to smuggle the drugs to raise some money. I have been living in Italy since 2002." He allegedly ingested 36 wraps of the drugs, saying, "I was promised 3,000 Euros."

Agu allegedly ingested 55 wraps in anticipation of 2,800 Euros, but he was arrested during the screening of KLM passengers. His final destination was Madrid, Spain. He stated that he was introduced into the criminal trade when he requested for financial assistance from an old friend.

"I needed some help from my old time friend when I was introduced into the drug trade. I used to sell tiles at Coker in Lagos until my shop was demolished. That was the genesis of my problem. Last year, I left Lagos for Aba, where I sell clothes, but business has been very bad. My late mother will be buried in December and I have no money," he stated.

The spokesman of the NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said that the suspects would face trial after they might have excreted the drugs they had swallowed. He said, "In cases like these, we have to be patient for them to get the drugs out of their systems. Sometimes, it takes longer than a few days. But after that is done, they are all going to the court to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to emulate them."

But basically Londoner I am willing to let go. I just hate it when I am disrespected and disregarded as the "alien". What that other guy said about me being descendant from trash was really effed up and you have to admit totally uncalled for. I know I have said some messed up things - some perhaps worse so it was a dose of my own medicine but the difference between me and him is I can admit it. So with that said as far as you are concerned I apologize if I offended you, it was NOT my intention what so ever. My aim was and still is for blacks to let go of this prejudice. When I came on this site I was called "Jamo" girl and the name stuck. I didn't know my mentioning it bothered you so much but oh well. No hard feelings I love you all and it doesn't matter where we come from we are all still one people. Ghana, Nigeria and the world over.

Just let it go. This is petty. Be proud of Ghana but don't diss another country in the process or put your dukes up to fight when it is not necessary. If they diss you ignore it. Not all Nigerians are prejudiced and vice versa.

Ok. wink

@AloyEmeka: violent and babapupa are in this case correct. For example, if I claim on my resume that I have a Masters from University X, then a company that wants to hire me will certainly call and confirm that I actually was given that degree. Privacy rules protect your transcript (i.e., whether you got your degree after failing the mandatory class and then retaking it to only get a C, versus just taking it once and getting an A), but not whether I actually have the degree or not.

Secondly, much of this became a matter of public record after Emeagwali's lawsuit. You can google and read the case for yourself.
End of story!

grin grin grin grin going by that silly article, one need not tell u that dumbo is a Nigerian posing as a Ghanaian or u don't have to be a rocket scientist for u to be able to tell the dumbo is a Nigerian and to think these people (some/most Nigerians) accusing Ghanaian's on this site everyday about how Ghanaians suffer from inferiority complex, yet u people go to the extend of pretending to be Ghanaians on your numerous sites juz to bring our name down but I say this , "NO MAN CAN CURSE WHAT GOD HAS BLESSED-GHANA" (Ghana might be small but we've achieved so much), I mean is this dude foreal huh, seriously, lets say wht he put up there is true (which fork naa it ain't) is it gonna stop your (Nigerian) leaders from looting your money in broad day light?, is it gonna give u electricity for 24hrs for once in this day and age, I mean we are in 2010 and y'all still suffering from electricity, GIANT OF AFRICA? huh huh grin grin grin lmao, I cud go on and on, most of u guys suffer from what I term the "play along pride" or "follow the crowd pride" Nigerians talk, walk and prolly piss in arrogance but when push comes to shove u guyz run like chickens, I mean your leaders have been despoiling u guys for how long now?, yet u have the balls to tell Ghanaians they are pussies, you have the balls to tell South Africans they are pussies, hell u even have the balls to call AA'S pussies when these peeps have confronted their matters, AA's fought their discrimination, atleast they've gotten this far, S.A fought the apartheid era and don gimme tht  "Nigeria helped in tht bull crap", cuz if u did wtf have u done for urselves , nonsense, and abt Ghana. atleast we the people have a say in this country how abt u MR. ARROGANT yet chicken NIGERIA, I alwayz say this, I have met betta Nigerians out there but with a country and its population like u have, u'll get fools like tht dumbo who wrote the article, see, u guyz pride urselves wit your population but have u thought of the other side?, the population is also the problem people (stop producing by heart),

abt electricity in Ghana, btw I don rememba the last time tha lights went off in my neighborhood, to tell the truth, yes u might get a few lights out here and there but the longest it takes is like 20-25minutes and they are back on and the Electricity Corporation of Ghana always try to announce on  the radio, areas that would go off, when they have to work on their transformers and if am lying abt this any honest Nigerian living in Ghana would testify to this, this is the small Ghana that most of u Nigerians don't respect, yet flock in here, the same Ghana u piss @

lol and he tlks of how bad our schools are  grin grin grin grin if so tell me how come I have so many Nigerian school mates in Ghana,

and for him to even mention scientists juz shows how dumb he izz, aight look this name up >>> Ave K. P. KLUDZE- NASA, just 1 of the numerous Ghanaian scientists,

is it that it beats your mind how a small country like Ghana is always doing well in everything or what?, cuz this hate is becoming too much mahn,

Ghanaian refugees in Togo? shocked shocked shocked wtf is this dude thinking, he really wuz on a mission to disgrace Ghana lol grin grin grin grin Ghanaian's turning into refugees? it doesn't click lol grin grin grin I mean how, there are problems in the north no doubt (like every country)  but its surely nothing compared to Nigeria's problems, u guyz need to start thinking abt your own before sticking your damn noses into lil problems tho, cuz your population ain' a joke so we pray poo doesn't hit the fan cuz if it does, y'all be running down here like u've already begun and as we all know Ghana is too small for your thick faces,
u will be amazed @ the numba of Nigerians coming to Ghana, I think its enuf, y'all cut it down a bit cuz I smell your peeps crying Xenophobia already and I mean wht do u expect when u have a large number of arrogant Nigerians in your country.

grin grin grin grin and he goes on to say 60% of Ghanaians poo outdoors hahahahahahaha grin grin grin grin grin gotta hand it to dude, he's funny as hell lol
so if 60% of Ghanaians poo outdoors then what percentage of Nigerians wud do same? grin grin grin grin grin your guess is as good as mine 120% hahahahaha grin grin grin grin Nigerians are funny mahn, gotta luv that country

B4 I leave tho gotta tell this story, picked a taxi 1 day and this driver out of nowhere asked me, are u Nigerian? I went like naa, then he goes like oh O.K, according to him he picked up 2 guys from Tema (those who know Ghana will know Tema) and the 2 guys had this accent (speaking pigeon english) so he knew they were Nigerian cuz the Ghanaian pigeon is different from the Nigerian so he asked in our local language "na di3n na'ekorsu" meaning "whats good?" just to confirm they were Nigerian and they went like my friend shutup jor or so, (Nigerians and their arrogance) so according to him he just kept quiet and focused on his driving lol, as they approached a filling station the guys asked him to drop them @ a bus stop and this was in the evening so the streets was empty, he stopped, they dropped and they asked him how much he gave his price and dudes went like "Mr. driver today is your lucky day so go home and thank your God for saving u" they pulled out 2 guns and told him they were giving him 1minute to vanish from their site, he said he drove home shivering from head to toe that day and couldn't even go to the police station and the next day he heard 2 armed robbers had been killed and tht they were Nigerians, so Nigerians I think u guys need to look deep within cuz your problems are caused by your own people and stop playing that silly patriotism card cause now ain' the time clean up your image first,

FULL OF LIES, SHAME ON THE DUDE WHO WROTE THE ARTICLE IF GHANA AIN'T SO GOOD, WTF ARE U DOING HERE THEN , GET THA HELL OUT! wink

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin safe

PS. there are some great Nigerians out there  wink
I aint even gonna lie, I couldnt read this shiyyt you just put up here. Dude, your writing is horrible. Dont you know how to properly use commas and fullstops? After the first line, I was like: "FUXCK THIS". My man, if youre a product of the Ghanian educational system, I doubt youre in proper position to try to prove superiority of anything.

Of course if there's one thing Africans as a whole don't respect or understand it's diplomacy. Most things are done off of childish emotions and by force. The US has already planned for the separation of nigeria. It has instituted Africom in nigeria, i.e. the oil producing areas so it isnt going to be long before their army colonizes us sets up base in the oil producing area. So when the country does go into mayhem there will not be a repeat of 1967. The US and UN will not support or supply the Islamic north with their fight against regions going their own ways.
Lol. U still dont get it, do u?!

chyz:
So be it. Nothing you or i can do to stop Biafra from actualizing. Those who are wanting to join will do so its already in litigation with the international court as we speak. It's a done deal.
You still dont get it. How long have you lived in the West?

DapoBear:
Litigation with international courts? Surely then you can provide a reference
Hahahahaha. GOOD ONE!!!

DapoBear:
Just because the US and UN would not support the north doesn't mean they wouldn't seek to control Delta and Rivers themselves. And if Biafra doesn't get Rivers at least, it doesn't really sound like a very interesting nation to live in. Landlocked, overpopulated, not enough farmland, no oil wealth.  Not the brightest future, imo
Ok, u clearly "get it".

DapoBear:
Nope, people truly do not learn from the past. History seems to repeat itself over and over again, people making the same mistakes every generation. It is kind of sad, really.
