I have seen some big Japanese twitter account make some racist tweets on their timeline with comments in approval of the tweet. Is that really the reality of thing in Japan?
There are arseholes anywhere all over the world.
Japanese are polite and helpful people.

Look at it this way: Everyone knows about the racism in USA, if you get any opportunity to go to the USA, would you take it?

My humble 2 cents
Regards.

You meant to ask "why DON'T"?

Maybe because APU is a private university that is popular with international students, so full payment is necessary, unlike national universities whose tuition policies cater to both Japanese and foreigners (although some are changing).
Sorry. I meant to say "While"

Hello, Is the second year doable on my own if i work the hours given to student, my application result at APU Ritsuimeikan Japan, I was given 30% tuition reduction scholarship MBA, which i was thinking it will be up to 50%-80%, my people in japan already please share with me your opinion, external scholarship i applied for was not given.
Beppu isn't really a very big city. Why schools do accept installment payment of tuition, I think it be tough to raise that fund considering accommodation and other bills.
Why not look at Fukuoka or Kobe?

My humble 2 cents

Once again thanks.

I had the meeting with the professor today and everything went smoothly. Special Shout to blackbriar for the advice he gave on making a presentation on page 47, which I did and the prof appreciated how I communicated my intentions.

He further when on to send me 3 doc which contains details on how to apply and where to fill in my details, in one of the documents, it contains their account details and the application 9,800 yen.

My question is that am I to pay the money via a Nigeria bank, if yes is it just any bank or there are specific banks?
Congratulations and wishing you all the best.
Kindly pay the application fee via a Nigerian Bank.
Send back evidence of payments to admission office with the professor copied on the mail.

TravelRe: Living In Australia/life As An Australian Immigrant by blackbriar:
Chibudinho55:
Good morning, I Just got my visa grant (Subclass 500) 🙏🏽🎉 and I’m preparing for the big move to Australia soon.

I’d really appreciate insights from those already in Australia (students, PRs, citizens) anyone with real experience. I want to get things right from the start.
1. Pre-arrival preparation
What are the most important things I should sort out before leaving Nigeria? Anything you wish you knew before arriving?

Driving licence.
You need to drive everywhere.

Go online to your state Main roads website to start the online sessions to learn the road rules, and also you need to convert your licence after 3 months

2. What to pack (very important)
What are the must-bring items from Nigeria that are either:
Hard to find in Australia
Very expensive over there
Clothes, shoes, gadgets, documents, personal items, what should I prioritise?

None that I can think of, maybe Chinese balm as it is cold season. and try get flu shot/vaccine , it is free.
Also get some warm clothing too (Sweater weather).
If you ear in Australian dollars (aud), these things are not expensive (Clothes, shoes, gadgets, documents, personal items), in my opinion.
What do you mean by document?
Anyways:
1. Driving Licence
2. Educational Quals.
3. Employment related documents and CV.

drvigvisions
As a Nigerian, I know food adjustment can be real.
What Nigerian food items are worth bringing?
Which ones are easily available in Australia?
What did you regret not bringing?

Nothing. Not worth it in my humble opinion.
As our meals are also heavily influenced by western society, you can get almost everything in regular supermarkets.
Semolina is available, so also Okra. Rice is dirt cheap, Can-tomato and Can-brown beans goes for $1. Various varieties of bread, egg, milk, beef, chicken, pork.
So, what do you want to bring?
Please don't pack meat on your fight.
Depending on how big the city you are moving to, you would find African shops, and the Nigerian and African community can link you to African food.
Kindly join the African and Nigerian community WhatsApp group in your city.

4. Restricted & Prohibited Items
I’ve heard Australian Border Force is very strict.
What food items are NOT allowed into Australia?
What must be declared at the airport?
Any mistakes people commonly make that I should avoid?

https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/can-you-bring-it-in/categories

5. Settling in (First 2–4 weeks)
What should I focus on immediately after arrival?
Getting a bank account(if applicable)
Finding part-time jobs
Transportation setup

You can open bank account before arriving.
https://www.commbank.com.au/moving-to-australia.html

You need a driving licence yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for Jobs, Seeeeeeeek!!!!!!! and you shall find.

Next....
Medicare.
https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/enrolling-medicare?context=60092
Tax File number

6. Cost of Living Reality
For someone just landing:
How much should I realistically budget monthly?
Any tips to survive the first few months financially?

The lucky country is not so lucky anymore.
Rent is minimum of $400 weekly. this will be your biggest bill.
I don't know how you will cope if you have no base (family, friends or job) on ground currently and get first rent.
Usually, people get together to rent a house. it is the affordable way.
Next transport -
Groceries - $150 - $300 monthly.
Water bill.
Electric bill.
Internet.
A slab of piss.

$1000 Australian monthly maybehuh

7. Jobs & Survival Tips
How easy is it to get a first job (especially for students)?
Best kinds of jobs to start with?
Any platforms or strategies that actually work?

As a student, retail jobs, like stacking shelves in coles or woolsworth.
https://au.seek.com/student-part-time-jobs
Working at restaurants or at warehouses.
Again, it depends on the city. the bigger and more urban the city, the better the chances.

8. General Advice 🙏🏽
If you could start over again as a new immigrant in Australia, what would you do differently?
I’m open to all advice good, bad, honest. No sugarcoating please 🙌🏽

Come 10 - 40 years ago when things were cheaper. cheesy cheesy cheesy
Be careful of cities you move to as the loneliness and vast nothiness is real. The country is predominantly white, and they won't talk nor associate with you.
Hence staying in a big urban city is important as they are multicultural and diverse.
Regional cities in my humble opinions are for families, and not for young single people most especially one new to the country.
Try to engage in a hobby, soccer, tennis etc. It helps.

Thanks in advance as I prepare for this new chapter 🇦🇺✨
Looking forward as well to your new chapter, mate.
Good on ya.

@blackbriar @Gerrard59 and others,

Please you guys should not be angry with me for bothering too much abeg, many things dey man mind.

My story goes this way,
I have 3 kids of 7,5 and 3 years.
I am a Chinese resident permit holder and also an importer of electrical, electronics and used auto parts from China where I partly reside.
I own a business in Nigeria that is fetching me good six figures but my wife is insisting that she must run her Masters degree in Japan this year because she’s a professional teacher which we have applied to 3 schools already.

My problem is that can my 3 kids live in Japan with her while I come back to continue my China-Nigeria importation business?

Is there anyway she can cope with handling three kids alone in Japan while attending lectures?

Is there a way I can also add my 15 years old child minder in the application so that she will go to Japan with them?

What if I decide to quit my business in Nigeria to relocate to Japan with them, although I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a poor grade, is there anyway I can fix my life up in Japan so that I can still be taking care of my family and be footing other bills as usual?

Abeg make una no vex for the plenty question because that’s how it is in my mind.

Thanks for your time
This is very tough.

Your kids are so young that they need their mum.
Your wife would not be able to cope with 3 very young kids in Japan.
And daycare is super expensive.

Please do not give up your business.
PLEASE DO NOT QUIT YOUR BUSINESS IN NIGERIA.

You and your wife need to have some long and serious discussion.

My humble 2 cents.
TravelRe: Japanese Visa And Travelling To Japan by blackbriar: 9:38am On Apr 18
Gerrard59:
Yes. The issue is that when the school requests evidence of living expenses, it wants provision for two years, and this provision should exclude tuition and admission fees. Except when not asked, just provide the provision for two years. I don't know about non-national universities, but at national universities, you are required to pay fees per semester, not per year. So in each semester, you will be required to pay for that period. Thus, you have the time to work so as to raise money for the following semester. Since national universities are the most affordable, if you max the hours working at a warehouse, as people I know did, you can raise the following semester's fees. But na your body go tell you. This is the reason you should hunt for scholarships in your first semester, so you are not compelled to work odd jobs for odd hours so you can raise money.
PLEASE and PLEASE
Follow this advise

Also be mindful of what city the national university is situated, so that you can easily get part time jobs.

Are there schools in Japan that allows this?
All Universities allow this.
However these scholarships are only available to students on ground physically in Japan.
But please speak to your professor about scholarships in your introduction email.

A study plan?
Like what you would daily?

However, kindly refer to Page 47 of this thread.
TravelRe: Japanese Visa And Travelling To Japan by blackbriar: 9:24am On Apr 18
LalaGreen247:
Thanks once again please I have some questions on this.

1. Will there be any limitations to working while on this program?

The limitations will be based on the warded visa. Usually research students in Japan are granted students Visa, which is the same visa granted to a master’s and phd student.
Study: Attend accredited universities, vocational colleges, or language schools.
Part-time Work (Arubaito): Work up to 28 hours/week during terms, and 8 hours/day (40 hrs/week) during extended holidays.

2. Will I be required to leave the country after I'm done with this program or I can still stay back and work?

I am guessing you are referring to the research program. If so, the research program is equivalent to the Nigeria’s Pred-degree or remedial programs.
It is not a degree awarding program. It a 6-month program where you study under supervision of a Professor in anticipation for a enrolment into a master’s program. Before you conclude the program, you fill in application for master program. Upon gaining admission you don’t need to leave the country as the University(admissions/international student division) will then apply for extension of your student visa if required.

3. Is there a pathway to PR while/after this program?

There is a 10 year pathway to PR That would mean graduating and working in Japan consecutively for 10 years
HSP pathway, point based system favourable to skilled workers and Phd graduates.
Lastly 3 years after getting married to a Japanese citizen.

4. What are the cons of a research program over masters.
The only con is that it is not a degree awarding program.
For STEM students, it is very beneficial as you would carry out experiments and use tools that you couldn’t use in Nigeria. Getting you equipped with skills for your master’s by research.
The research program is not too busy with packed sschedules, so you have time to take free Japanese classes offered by the National University. For example, Japanese classes in the morning, your research/experiment in the afternoon (this schedule can be arranged with your Professor).

Thanks boss

Is 6 million naira a realistic budget for planning to pursue a masters degree in Japan, including flight ticket?
The screenshot below is from Page 46 of this thread.
I will advise you try the same approach.
If you look at any admission page of any university, there is usually a breakdown of costs.
Try to do the estimate, currency conversion and summation

My pleasure.

As for the bold, one thing is to study and graduate. The other is to get a good job. There are good jobs in Japan, but they require Japanese and with the new language requirement which is tied to work visa issuance, knowledge of the language is extremely essential these days. It depends on you and your final goals. One of which is: get "free education" and a role in a Japanese company (garner some work experience and save funds) with plans to move elsewhere. I know people who did the former - scholarship and upon graduation, they left. I know people who did both and plan to leave.

It all depends on you.
Thanks, I was coming to say this but you clearly answered.

You don't have to settle in Japan.
Japan can be the steppingstone to your eventual destination.
You can apply for PR visas to Canda and Australia while studying in Japan.

My Humble 2 cents.

Thanks brother,
You are 100% on point
Please do not argue. You would look troublesome form day 1. and they may just push your admission aside.
you never enter; you don dey argue.
Get the letter from Federal Ministry of Education or form your school that meet the requirement that the TUFS is asking for.

It is a clerk (a human) that will review your documents before even handing it over to be processed further by admissions team.
This clerk has a checklist; they strike you out if one document is missing.

Blackbriar my brother,
Do you think that IELTS is still needed here?
Please take your time to check the marked area.
I sincerely appreciate your guidance.
Thanks
Hi,

Thanks for the screenshot of the admission booklet. This is very clear in black and white. you have the option of not writing the IELTS, as all you need to get is a n authorised document stating that your program was/is conducted in English Language. So, Congratulations here, if you can get meet the other requirement, IELTS not required here.

However, do Nigerian schools write this on transcript, or would you have to go to Federal ministry of Education in Abuja?

Please always follow the admissions booklet to the latter.

TUFS, FUCHU , TOKYO. great and beautiful school. Great choice.

Wishing you Godsped.
