Roseline5: Has anything changed for accountants since then, I am thinking of relocating to Australia as an accountant. While not change your strategy. Apply for the visa through another occuption. You can always apply for accountancy jobs when you do eventually get the visa and are on ground in Australia. But for now you need to get the visa first. |

Gerrard59: You did not quote my post quite properly. Anyway, I will explain better. Yes, there is a lack of information amongst Japanese firms about the IT talent in Nigeria largely due to cultural differences, the Nigerian community here isn't as cohesive and targeted as the Indian one to position their people at Japanese firms, Indians have greater clout in the global tech industry compared to Nigerians. Japanese fervently follow trends and events in the US and have seen how Indians, not Nigerians, head American companies. Even the Indians who get work visas to work here, check very well, they don't have the profile to enter the US directly from India. So, they target "easier" countries. The best of IT talent go to the US by fire by force. Others get refined in the UK, Germany, Dubai, Singapore, Canada before doing pivoting to the US.
Post a japa thread to Japan at Nigerians and check the profiles: the majority of people interested aren't those with IT backgrounds. That is the core issue: the Nigerians who have IT backgrounds would rather target Canada, UK, USA, Germany and even Dubai before Japan. Already, the perception is that obtaining a visa to Japan is hard. Additionally, many Nigerians who japa wish to obtain another citizenship/nationality. The prevailing belief is that Asian nations don't issue naturalisation statuses to foreigners. I have argued with Nairalanders who state that a black person can't be a naturalised Japanese citizen without marrying an ethnic Japanese. Even a MEXT scholar argued the same in the "Nigerians in Japan" Facebook group. However, the law permits naturalisation, but the applicant has to renounce the previous nationality. Indians can renounce and claim the Overseas India certificate/classification. For a Nigerian, that is the end. Many Nigerians aren't prepared to do this, especially those with IT backgrounds. It is a perception issue.
This perception can be changed by letting Japanese companies, especially their HR departments, know that there is IT talent in Nigeria. To Nigerian IT gurus, they should take Japan as a means to an end and late pivot to the US/Canada/UK. They should know that obtaining permanent residency is not as hard as peddled online, and this can be done without knowing Japanese. Many don't know this because of the perception issue due to lack of information, misinformation and lack of interest. Thanks for your the further explanation. This was here i was headed in my comments. Have you ntoiced that are more indinas in tokyo lately and they all work in IT. I spoke with 2 , and they moved to Japan form USA becuase they couldnt et their H1B visas and an IT form in japan offered them a job. Nigerians are mainly focused on englih speakign nations whose visas are herculean compared to Japan. I just wish they could broaden their horizon. |

[quote author=Gerrard59 post=133503544]Nigerian IT guys aren't interested in Japan largely because it is too far, of cultural and language differences. I beg to differ, the indians also face the same cultural and language differences The profiles of Nigerian IT gurus who want to japa aren't interested in Japan as a country. Beacuse of lack of neccessary information about Japan. . Conversely, the profiles of the majority of Nigerians who want to move to Japan don't have the IT profiles needed by Japanese companies. I beg to differ however could you explain further. This I can understand, but Japan could be a perfect stepping stone to the US, Canada, UK and Australia where greater interest lies. Secondly, there are many Japanese companies (of various sectors) in India than in Nigeria. Correct Also, many Japanese human resource companies are actively recruiting Indians to work as software engineers in Japan True, but that also because there is no nigeria interest in Japan. . There is none of such in Nigeria. I am confused. |

moonraker: Reports reaching me as at yesterday indicate the Japanese Embassy in Nigeria will instantly bounce your Tourist visa application if there isn't an invitation letter attached to your application.
Additionally, I have heard a few more incidents of Nigerians/Ghanaians getting deported at the POE for the inability to prove their purpose of visiting the country. One such incident described a situation where Immigration at the POE was not convinced when a Nigerian stated he came to Japan to buy auto spare parts. Said individual was then taken to a spare part shop by immigration to test his knowledge. Suffice to say, said individual was unable to name a single spare part correctly and detained, until eventually deported.
This isnt a scare post. It is a post to ask that you do your research thoroughly, to avoid stories that touch. Education Route is the always the best route. There is also the ALT Route but still semi-education based because you have to prove your comeptency. Lastly and Sadly, why are nigerian IT guys not applying for jobs in Japan and getting your work visas. Indians are applying form mumbai and delhi and getting full time jobs and work visas. |

Qinglong: Ok, talking about the language stuff, I just tried looking up the JPLT as someone mentioned earlier in the thread…and I noticed there doesn’t seem to be any centre for taking the exam or lesson tutorials in Nigeria? This is a bit odd to me because it seems as though we have centres for HSK (Chinese) and TOPIK (Korean) from a quick search.
So, why’s it only Japanese that isn’t available. Any alternatives? I’ve been thinking about studying Japanese from scratch next year. I found this platform (https://minato-jf.jp/Home/Back#CourseList), not sure how suitable it is. https://www./3121420991447121/ |

With the growing number of anime fans and Japarians in Nigeria, I think there could be enough interest if they open centres. But as you said, there’s always the negative rep Nigerians have created for ourselves abroad. It’s too bad.
I did not see Cameroon on this list.

And if I want to teach preschool class in Australia will I need IELTS? Bikonu Madam you need IELTS to apply for any of the Visas. to get a job as a Teacher , your visa is the most important priority. However are you a professional Teacher? If so , apply fast, Teaching is priority just like the medical field. |

Wisdommyth: Greetings,
Please I have a question. When doing my skill assessment with engineers Australia, I assessed only my degree without assessing my experience. This is because of the additional cost for also assessing experience and also because I only have barely three years of work experience. Please when lodging expression of interests, can I still include my experience even though they were not included and assessed when by Engineers Australia ? I think Imigrattion uses your expereince form Engineers Australia as your "official working expereince" So if Engineers Australia assesses your CDR and gives you 3 years then Immigartion will accpet 3 years as it will be written on your Engineers Assseemnet Outcome. Also bear in mind that engineering points are high now. |

xd369: Happy New Month, my people!
Please, I need your expert advice on the best way for me to migrate to Australia based on my profile. I’ve read through some very helpful threads here and done my own research, and it seems like the 189 visa or the 491 (family sponsorship) visa could be good options for me.
A bit about my background:
- I have a professional bachelor’s degree (M.Eng) in Aviation Transport (Aircraft Engineering) from a university in Latvia, Europe. - My direct experience in this field is limited to a 6-month internship, which I did in my final year before graduating in 2020. - For the past 6 years, I’ve been working as an IT Analyst, and Technical Manager in Tech companies. - I’m 27 years old. - I have a brother who is an Australian citizen based in Perth, Australia. - My PTE Academic score is 90.
I’m thinking of writing my Career Episodes for an Aeronautical Engineering assessment with Engineers Australia (EA), but I’m not sure if my lack of work experience in the field, apart from the internship, will affect my chances. Do you think I should go ahead, or are there other routes that might be more straightforward or guaranteed for me?
I would really appreciate any advice or help you can provide. Thanks so much, and God bless! Your lack of Experience in Aviation Transport will affect your assessment with Engineers Australia. Look for another suitable way through VETASSESS. In summary , why you have an engineering degree , you have not demonstrated or put into practice any of your engineering knowledge. Your work experience is IT related, so try the IT sector route. However what did use your IT skills on? Did you make products, processes, computations and ran simulations on Aircraft or Manufacturing related industries? https://www.vetassess.com.au/check-my-occupation/construction-and-manufacturingIf you do still decide to go through with Engineers Australia, I fear they will issue Engineering Technologist which is equivalent to CAD Operator. My humble opinions. Please also seek further advice |

Wisdommyth: Greetings. I have just submitted my skill assessment with Engineers Australia. I submitted using the Washington Accord pathway. I have a bit of worry though, as I mentioned earlier, my Masters degree falls under Washington Accord, while my Bachelors fall under Sydney accord. I decided to go with the Washington Accord pathway for my assessment. I didn’t include work experience in my assessment, as I only have just about three years of work experience and because of the cost associated with assessing work experience - since I don’t have substantial years of experience, so won’t get much points from experience. Will my pathway choice won’t affect my assessment outcome, because my bachelors degree is Sydney Accord accredited ? It will affect your pathway. Engineers Australia primarily do assessment based on your Bachelors accord. CDR Pathway is the best route for you. Sorry you will need to spend another additional money for CDR Pathway. Please, Please and Please do the relevant experience , that is the only way to prove and get points for Work Expereince should you get ITA. |

This comes to about 60 points. He needs to improve on the points5. If the points was way more than 60 points, I would have advised for EOI directly but alas he needs to improve his points standing. After going through your reply where he worked as a foreman, he should not have gone through Engineers Australia. 6. seems he might need to spend again on relevant skilled assessment.
