If he doesn't play Booster Gold in DCU wetin we gain
|
This opinion by John Campea echoes my thoughts on the state of DC films John even predicted that Superman Legacy will most likely loose money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJUxoEyddKQ |
Keep in mind we're only halfway through the year ![]() The Hollywood movie business is the fvcking ghetto ![]()
|
I thought making Kraven a lover of animals was the height of SONY's foolery They just doubled down and gave him "Apex Predator " powers from a lion bite and some blood ![]()
|
Una don see wetin SONY dey cook with their Spiderman universe... These people did not learn from Morbuis at all. ![]() SONY is getting carried by Lord and Miller tax (Spiderverse directors) They will end up like DCEU if they don't slow their roll. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv1nfDIJ9kU |
pu7pl3:Yes and I enjoyed it It's one of the better DCEU films I will post a full review when I have time |

Xavier5:You need to see the damage streaming did to Pixar. A brand that used to be a giant in the animation industry but nowadays they have been a shadow of their former self just like DC. They started by dropping Soul on Disney+, then Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, Turning Red... until it started diminishing the value of those films and the need to see them in a Cinema. It's not like Pixar films are bad. Only Lightyear can be held as a bad film among all the films they released since 2020. Streaming is not good for a franchise unless you have huge amount of subscribers and plenty money like Netflix. HBO Max doesn't have the subscriber number of Netflix. Dumping DC films on Max means reducing the number of audiences they can get. There's also the issue of piracy. Imagine watching a DC film in clear ultra HD on the day it drops. That is really bad. SONY that is trying to expand a franchise off the back of their Spiderman would never consider this streaming of a thing. DC movies must remain theatrical. But with budget control ($150m max) and quality control. If James Gunn can kick off the DCU with 5 great movies back to back, the fanbase will start getting steady growth and trust in the DC brand will be restored.
|
I don't envy James Gunn at all. No one in Hollywood does. That man took the hardest job in the world when he accepted to be DC boss. The stakes are too high. Right now there's a section of the DC fanbase that are seriously campaigning to get him fired. He made a lot of enemies when he took the bold move and announced a reboot. His Superman movie will be litmus test that will impact future DCU films. |
Xavier55:I disagree DC movies belong to the big screens only, none of that streaming bullshit. Imagine watching iconic characters like Superman and Batman on a streaming platform. It's gonna set a very bad precedent. Like why anticipate these characters and their stories if you can watch them at home? One of the reasons The Batman didn't make more money as it should is because the previous WB regime only let it play 45 days in theaters before dumping it on HBO Max. That's how they wanted to dump Blue Beetle on streaming until Zaslav intervened. Anybody that wants to see Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman should go to the cinema. Unless you want to tell a longer story with a TV series like James Gunn wants to do with Lanterns and Paradise Lost. Apart from that, anything movie, theatre straight on the IMAX and premium screens. One thing WB must do is stop making $200m DC films. The first 5 DCU films should get not more than $150m budgets. And these movies have to be GREAT. Not average, not good, GREAT. That way you can restore the audience faith in DC films in shortest possible time. |
abduleez1:They still have Dune and Meg 2 WB has a higher chance of making profits from those movies than with AQ2 and Blue Beetle. |
Minemrys:Tbh I love RF too much to have him wasted on a DCEU film as a mere plot device to help reset the timeline. I rather he shows up for the first time in DCU. He is a very good villain with way more potential. A good writer/director will get the best out of him. |
Baddestguyp:I don't know how to feel about this Surely it can't be worse than the movie |
Xavier55:I still think the soft reboot is a bad idea. Do you know that every DCEU film since 2020 flopped. WW84, Birds of Prey, TSS, Black Adam, Shazam 2 and now the Flash too is flopping. There's zero goodwill for the DCEU and general audience do not care for it. The way Shazam 2 flopped, you'd think the first movie didn't have it's fans. Even the good DCEU films are not spared from being being disastrous flops. Flash is surprisingly tanking at the domestic box office. This one is shocking to me because WB marketed this film very well. From Cinemacon to fan screenings, WB did their absolute best to lift this movie and yet....there's a chance it will make less money than Black Adam domestically. If The Flash cannot succeed, I fear for Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2. Those movies are looking like guaranteed flops no matter how good or bad they may be. 2020 - 2023 DCEU has been a total disaster. This is the legacy of this failed cinematic universe. I don't want any part of DCEU in the new DCU. Even the smallest speck of it should be completely removed. Hard reboot is the only way forward. Nuke everything and start afresh. There are some things I love about DCEU. Margot Robbie's Harley, Amanda Waller, Peacemaker, Sasha Calle's Supergirl. As much as I love these characters and the actors that played them I still believe that there are new actors that can play those roles. We need to start afresh. A clean slate with no signs of the old DCEU. That is the best way for the DCU. I hope James Gunn reconsiders this soft reboot of a thing. As for the last two DCEU films. If I'm a WB exec I will not spend a single dollar marketing those films. It's better to just release it like that and pray it breaks even at the box office. I can't wait for DCEU to finally end. That one year and half break before DCU begins is very necessary. |
abduleez1:The biggest problem now is that DC brand have zero goodwill. A DC movie being successful should be seen as a miracle nowadays because the general audience do not care anymore. James Gunn has an uphill battle ahead of him with Superman Legacy. It's not enough for this movie to be good, it needs to be GREAT. It needs to be James Gunn's magnum opus else it will struggle. This movie will make or break the new DCU. The stakes are too high.
|
Minemrys:That is impressive A good DCEU movie. We don't get that often nowadays. The last good DCEU movie I can think of is TSS and that was 2 years ago. It's weird just thinking about it. |
Minemrys:On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the movie |
abduleez1:See better Squad ![]() We're getting great movies back 2 back, nothing like the mid DCEU used to give us.
|
SOZINN:Bro is watching Camrip ![]() Go to the cinema for proper HD and stop torturing yourself with Camrip I spoke to a friend of mine that saw the film yesterday night and he told me this scene is nothing like Thor 4 and it looks way better in the cinema Again, stop watching Camrip |
Who else is watching this new show?
|
Dotng:Jason Momoa was actually acting like LOBO His entire performance is basically a perfect audition tape for Lobo |
phr0nesis:For a seasoned pirate like me July 18 is close enough ![]() |
July 18 ![]()

I was going to watch this at Viva cinema next weekend ![]() Change of plans ![]() LMAO
|
BlackManta:That's how I opened Twitter tonight and heavy spoilers hit me in the face, I don't even follow those crack heads on Twitter and I don't know who tf is retweeting their nonsense on my tl Y'all be careful out there |
To those of you that will watch The Flash next weekend or anytime soon in the cinemas, if you use Twitter a lot I will advice you to mute the word "Flash" and other words related to the movie like"Batman" "Keaton" "Zod" "Supergirl" "cameo".....etc Those crazy Snyder cultists are moving mad on Twitter, they are hellbent on maliciously spoiling the movie for whoever intends to see it. |
I totally forgot this movie is coming out in 2 months time The poster is really dope I love it
|
This is really sad I remember when these movies were guaranteed hits How has the mighty fell off?
|
Anytime I see this thread I just remember that the DCEU as we know it ends in barely 6 months I hope The Flash, Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 turns out to be a crowd pleasing conclusion to this awry cinematic experiment Till we return with Gunnverse in 2025 ![]() |
SOZINN:Quantumania has an 83% audience score Thor Love and thunder has 77% audience score Eternals also got 77% These are mid to lower tier mcu movies with good audience scores I guess if DC fans are biased, mcu fans are also biased. Heck, everybody's biased Audience score is not a big deal anyway. Cinema score is much more relevant. |
Baddestguyp:Some of them are reviewing the actor not the movie. It's funny how a movie critic cannot separate art from the artist, which begs the question...why watch the movie in the first place if you don't intend on judging it as a movie? Even IGN on YouTube couldn't hold back from highlighting Ezra's controversy in their review of the movie. I have a feeling that WB anticipated this backlash. That is why they are banking on fans reaction and word of mouth by screening the movie to thousands of fans in advance.

[quote author=Broskyjames post=123556121]I got confused with the "They", this gender affirmation brouhaha is one of the silliest thing ever, makes absolutely no sense and causing unnecessary confusion. The PR optics for this movie has been a disaster even since DC decided to stick with they, thier antics is enough to knock any actor from a low budget movie, let alone a high profile flick as this. I am surprised you lot are still confident that the movie will do good numbers.[/quote The movie is barely 2 weeks away. We will see how things turn out soon enough |
