SmartPolician: I don't quite agree, please. There's division of labor in government. If Buhari could do all that, why did he appoint someone to head the DSS then?
Buhari cannot be seeing everything that happens around the 36 states and the FCT...that's why the constitution empowered him to appoint people to man those institutions.
If he could do it alone, there wouldn't be any need for people to head those institutions. For instance, he's the minister of petroleum, so we will blame him for everything that goes wrong in that subsector. You are right Mr President can't be everywhere, but what you are saying is essentially the same thing that I am saying. These people heading critical institutions are answerable only to Mr President. He is the only one that can fire them if they fail to deliver. |

SmartPolician: I don't understand why everyone is attacking Buhari for something the DSS did. That secret police has a chief and everyone should be calling him out.
We know that Buhari is terribly incompetent, but we cannot continue to blame him for the inadequacies and overzealousness of people who he appointed to run critical institutions of the state.
These people need to understand that they owe the country a duty to serve her, not the clueless Aso Rock herder. He is to be blamed because the buck stops at his door. He appointed these people to oversee the affairs of these critical institutions. |

Beancounter94: More like FCT does not have enough money, and there is looting too.
FCT used to raise money from parking meters to supplement its income some 8 years ago, until someone got a court order to stop it.
Also, we don't pay something called a council tax. Many cities in the UK...residents pay something called a council tax which can be as high as 85,000 to 100000 naira. (I know, Nigeria cannot be compared to the UK eh, we are poor)...but that money goes into providing essential services such as street light, transport, etc.
The oyel money that we all rely on is not enough for all of us. Which is why you that is shouting Hausas and Fulani...is your state capital well lit all over? The reason is simple...there isn't enough money to do the job.(apart from Lagos maybe, and even Lag is not well lit all over). Because your tax to gdp ratio is too low and because the oil price has not been high enough to sustain us for nearly 9 years, if not longer.
States and the FCT need to be innovative in raising money not just for streetlights , but for public services, especially in the cities. And Nigerians too need to put pressure on their leaders to make sure the money is used well to ensure that their cities are run well.(The court case I referred to earlier may have stopped corruption in the parking meter system, but then it also threw out the baby with the bathwater)
(This is not a supporting Buhari message...personally, I think the minister of FCT should be more of a professional than a polticial somebodi. APC continued with the same old same old.Ironically, the last really good FCT minister we had was El-Rufai.) Do you know all Taxi cabs pay tax everyday? Do you at all motor parks money is collected? What is it used for? Do you know that all signboard displayed in the fct must pay tax? Do you know that every shop in all markets, plaza, etc pay tax to the fct? Do you know tenement rates is collected from landlords in the fct? The fct generates revenue, the question should be what is the revenue generated used for? |

smartblu: A whole U.S Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) court documents accused you of links with an international fraudster and specifically stated that you used your office to help the fraudster jail one of his estranged partners-in-crime in return for cash reward and instead of you to wait to at least see and study the whole documents IN COMPANY OF YOUR LAWYER, seeing as the FBI has a reputation for being painstakingly thorough in their investigation, you rushed to Facebook to write one yeye rub.b.ish which ended up indicting you the more.
Did he suddenly forgot that he had the right to remain silent as anything he said could be used against him in a court of law?
Okay, now let’s even ignore the documents detailing your conversations with the fraudster (Hushpuppy) wherein he categorically told you he wanted his partner (Vincent Chibuzo) arrested and jailed for trying to “take food from his mouth” (to use the exact words of Hushpuppy according to the documents released by the FBI) and your response to his request and even the photo evidence of the guy (Vincent Chibuzo) in jail. Let’s ignore the money the FBI paper said Hushpuppy sent to an account you provided for a job well done. Let’s also ignore the other details of how you traveled all the way to Dubai and were given a special treat by Hushpuppy. Let’s ignore all those details provided by the FBI and just focus on only your Facebook response.
You claimed your office received a call from Hushpuppy (ordinary phone call, not a formal petition) alleging that someone (Vincent, his estranged partner-in-crime) was threatening his family and WITH NO INVESTIGATION, you arrested the suspect using a phone number provided by the complainant. In other words, you violated a man’s freedom based on a mere phone call which you did not investigate. After investigation, you discovered there was no threat and that both the complainant and the suspect already detained by you were long time friends who simply had disagreement over money.
In one sentence, you are confirming that Hushpuppy provided your office with false information. Ironically, you took no action against him, instead, you went ahead to become his Native Attire plug, helping him procure native wears and even using your office as a DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF POLICE which is a public office being funded by tax payers to do DHL (Abba Delivery Services!) work for the same man who just deliberately provided your office with false information and made you detain a man for no just cause.
And this is supposed to be our super cop?
Do you not know that only this your Facebook response has provided enough CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE that you had a relationship with Hushpuppy which is exactly what you were trying to deny??
COPIED. I hope he is tried here and not extradited to the us as a matter of national security. Because if they carry am na see finish be that oh! Let's clean up our own mess. |

The FBI is investigating this matter as part of Operation Top Dog. The FBI thanks the government of the United Arab Emirates and the Dubai Police Department for their substantial assistance in this matter. The FBI also thanks the Kenyan Office of Attorney General, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and Directorate of Criminal Investigations for their substantial assistance. Just read the report, FBI seemed to shun both the Nigerian government the Nigerian Police Force even the EFCC. Such a shame. |

AlhajiBitcoin: On monday 19th July, I was having bottled water in an eatery. One lady approached me, she should be about 22, she introduced herself by name and begged to sit at my table. I agreed. The next thing she said was that she needed help.
I told her to continue, she said she was stranded, that she lost her wallet. And that she was sent to purchase something. I doubted her but I still wanted to help. At first I asked whether she had transport fare to go home, she answered straight, "I can sort that out". In my mind, hmmm.
So what's the matter ? I asked. She said she needed N1,000 that it was exactly the amount she lost. I now wanted to get a clearer picture. I added again, " Did you throw away your purse or wallet ? She said no, that she didn't come out with a purse ! That the money slipped outta her jeans. red flag
I said okay, take N1k. She went again, sir can I get N200 from you ? I was like, but the first question I asked you was, " Do you have Tfare to get home " ? And you said that you can sort that out. Second red flag..
Wednesday, sitting out again, a woman came with same format. I remembered Monday, I didn't give her attention, because my plate of food had my attention.
Omo, today again, this boy showed up, "Sir can I talk to you " I just told him that I was not here to talk but to eat. The boy don cross here more than 5 times. I no send beggars again.
Where is this country going ? Lol....they work part time at the eatery. |
