That aside: Mind u that APC wrote to the USA, UK & their allies in 2013 and told them not to sell arms & military herdwares to Goodluck Jonathan government claiming human right violations and other things. Why do u thrive on lies. Apc never did such. Infact there was no apc until 2012. Boko haram started since 2009. Why tell lies?? |

NavierStokes: Good move and a welcome development. For those who brand everyone that criticizes the govt as "wailers". Where the government does what's good or makes good appointments, they will be applauded by all because it will be evident for all to see. The opposite scenario is where you have Gray areas or ambiguous policies or policies with possible adverse effect, then be sure to get criticisms or "wailings".
This man has proved himself worthy of the office and it's a case of a round peg in a round hole.
Congratulations on your appointment Sir and please start working on at least a 5- 10 years plan for Nigeria rather than the year on year rolling wave plans we have been used to. because na igbo now its a "good appointment" abi. Abeggi |

NavierStokes: And hasn't the system been running since members of the last set were recalled? At a time of economic gloom such as this which obviously is an emergency, I think making appointments such as this is the last thing the hungry man I see everyday, wants to hear. Whichever way we try to argue it doesn't take away the fact that the timing of the appointments is insensitive considering what the country is going through, or did the president just realize he needed to have representations out there? Try and learn, not just argue for the sake of arguing. Show some level of maturity ok. |

Politics › Re: Re: Niger Delta by blackpanda: 1:17pm On Jun 09, 2016 |
attackgat: You are right that federalism is not necessarily about regions. America has federalism but has no regions. However, Nigeria is not America. While America is a nation of immigrants, Nigeria is a nation of ethnic nationalities with different norms and customs. The states cannot be the federating unit because they only encourage 'divide and rule'. We must revert back to the regional form of Government. We Igbos will agree to be divided into 'states'. The southern minorities can have their own region(s) if that what the want. The federating units must be amongs the ethnic nationalities who share common norms and value system and not states created by military men. Thats both impractical and unnecessary. That is why I always warn against all this massob, ipob etc. Its very easy to disintergrate but virtually impossible to come together. There is no way an anambra man will agree for an ebonyi man to be premier of ur so called "region". Just as u cant merge back edo and delta states, nobody will ever agree. But more importantly, I dont see any advantage to regionalism over what we have now. No benefit whatsoever |
Politics › Re: Re: Niger Delta by blackpanda: 10:19am On Jun 09, 2016 |
attackgat: With federalism will come the dissolution of the states and the creation or regions. In the context of Nigeria, the states cannot be the federating units You shld probably read up the meaning of federalism...it has nothing to do with regions or how the country is divided. Rather how it is run. Nigeria has come a long way from regional government. It will be almost impossible to go back! |

The difference between jonathan regime and Buhari regime is intergrity and sincerity. This is the reason why there are no protests on the streets. The truth is that jonathan regime was so corrupt that nobody believed anything coming out ofgovt. The stealing was unprecedented and mind boggling. Compared with this regime where everything is open and we can see the problems clearlywe all know oil price has flopped, we are all aware of the activities of militantsn for the tomato crisis we all know its a result of pests.
That said, I think Buhari need to start working asap! |
Politics › Re: Re: Niger Delta by blackpanda: 8:21am On Jun 09, 2016 |
attackgat: You are echoing the sentiments of the OP without knowing it. Don't you know that with true federalism/regionalism/confederation, their will be no 'seriake Dickson' or even 'Bayelsa state' to owe money to? When the regions take form, premiers will be directly in control of their resources and as such, will be held directly accountable to people. Not this stupid unitary system where everyone is waiting for money from Abuja and is accountable to nobody I dont think u got my point. Federalism is good on paper, but impractical in reality (at least in the short run). Federalism is something we work towards not to wake up one morning and tell everybody there is no more allocation. Apart from the economic concerns, there is also the issue of security. Imagine if we were operating strict federalism now, NDA would have overpowered the state govt and taken over. Also remember that in federalism all the states are responsible for their own security. Now tell me, can delta state match the fire power of NDA? Federalism has extensive ramifications that we are not ready for |

blackmatter007: The matter is getting worse day by day, and buhari seem not moved by it.
Sometimes i wonder why the federal government which has a big imprint of the north is afraid of true federalism, what are they scared of, because the last time i checked nigerians (south) have screamed , yelled and even protested for it. We all know and even the government knows that true federalism will stop the myriad of problems facing nigeria, there will be less agitation and massive development .
With true federalism, i believe the north can be far greater and more richer than it is today. But will the northern oligarchs allow it? Can mere protest move the government to consider true federalism? The answer is, capital NO for both questions.
I don't support NDA destructive tendencies but a part of me is happy because i see the nigerian government forced to consider true federalism with a 50/50 sharing fomular. And to add to true federalism, all political prisoners must be released eg: kanu in order to quell agitations and unwanted protest.
In true FACT, NDA is the intelligent group here, far intelligent than the federal government of Nigeria because their demands is the medicine to Nigeria's sickness. Why did u not sing true federalism during the 6yrs of jonathan's regime?? Its now u suddenly woke up from slumber to sing federalism. Keep supporting vandals and hooligans, we will all suffer the blackouts, nofuel, poverty and no jobs together! Soon u wont have light or foe to be commenting on NL, na dat time ur eye go open. Smh |

Politics › Re: Re: Niger Delta by blackpanda: 7:49am On Jun 09, 2016 |
You seem to be placing the blame on federal govt alone, but federalism is not the problem. Rather its greed, corruption and sheer madness. For example look at bayelsa, one of the smallest states and receives one of the highest allocation. But what do we have? Seriaki Dickson is owing workers more than 12months salary. No infrastructure, zero development, zero investments. Will u still blame federal govt?
The truth is that states can not cope with true federalism. Apart from lagos, no other state can exist without allocation. They dont have the capacity or will to create opportunity for themselves except fg intervenes |
