In Nigeria, it is the fox that's in charge of the hen house. Nigeria can not progress. It is the people who are leaders of thought and power that are the ones preventing progress of the nation because they are the system. They're where they are because the system promoted them to that point. Nigeria is a joke! |

buygala: And another thread to mock Christianity hits Frontpage again, while another religion's threads are locked behind different silly questionnaires and agreements
I stopped being a practicing Christian a long while ago...in fact I have deleted religion from my consciousness. ..and I have become a much happier and more effective person
But truth be said, of all the religions on this earth, I would rather be horribly killed in a plane crash, with my burnt-out and dismembered body parts flung in different places than be seen to be even remotely connected with a certain religion
If I ever considered having a religion, it would still be Christianity. ... Yes, they deceive themselves a lot, abandon their natural intelligence when practicing rheir religion, and all, but self-deception and 'flamboyance' are much better hallmarks than endless terrorism, hypocrisy, and a very abhorrent intolerance for opinions opposing or questioning their religion
I am utterly sure that if it was that religion that has been subjected to such needless ridicule on this forum, a fatwah would have been issued on Seun's head, if he and some mods as well as some nairalanders wouldn't have already been already be tracked down and butchered along with their families
Seun. ..it's alright if you are an atheist like myself. ..it feels so good to be unburdened by religion and all its attendant silliness ...but please whenever you feel the need to encourage yourself in your atheism by mocking Christianity, please be fair and also mock the 'other' religion with equal glee and disdain .... Also for every 6 threads mocking Christianity which make Frontpage, just allow ONE.....just ONE thread mocking the 'other' religion to do same ...
That one doesn't agree with the way another practices his religion doesn't give you the right to hold that religion in such public derision .....Please don't take the natural docility of Christians for granted....every religion has its share of mad men who are willing to go the extra mile to protect it....it's just the voice of the majority who preach peace that holds this minority in place .....BE PROPERLY GUIDED PLEASE!!! Do not blame others for the narrowness of your sights. Christianity and Islam are from the same source. There are other religions besides the trio of evil (+Judaism). Do you know how many religions exist right now? Do you know how many are now extinct (even mostly in your Africa here? Anyone who uses any guise whatsoever to defend these swindlers in the name of Christianity enters my black book. I don't care what you say. Nobody forces you to compare them to the barbarians of Islam just so you can feel better |

Reiyvinn: "Next year is my year! My year of breakthrough, success and divine upliftment." — So says the yearly 31st Mantra.
We go to cross-over services, make resolutions, undergo some sort of illusional "clean up" within the edifices of our personality, assume a new state of being for just about the first few weeks before incontrovertibly reverting to our default settings.
We seem more occupied with creating mental pictures of wishful "would-be's," rather than actually figuring out how significant every passing year is to our lives.
It's indeed sad and it goes to show how planless and — so to speak — directionless a vast amount us are about life until it apparently gets to where you'd have to rush through life than you ought to.
Take a look at these for a moment:
* What exactly have you done within the last few years to better your life than you perceive it to be other than just hope?
We are the most hopeful yet the most pathetic; a suffering-and-smiling generation that bases her entire existence on just one thing: hope. For how long will "next year" — which surely never ends — continue to be "YOUR year" yet not so true. When does Hope get exhausted, in the grave?
* How and where do you see yourself next 31st?
Be real, have you got any plans on how you intend to work on those resolutions or are they just ceremonial wishes? Examine the difference between what you were last 31st and this and where you see yourself in the next?
The clock is ticking and it isn't waiting for you, or me or anyone, it's on its way to the next 31st and the next after that and sooner or later the shades of grey on your head would begin to question if there are many 31sts left to see. So why not start now to make a difference?
* What happens if 10 years from now, the job market gets saturated or your services are no longer required?
It is no secret that the job market is on a high-velocity nose-dive as companies are constantly looking for how to cut costs on labour thus the increase in Machine automation. Take a quick look at how much of the once human-induced labour has been taken over by technology and you may as well see a future apocalypse for paid employment.
So what happens ten years from now when there's little or no job available for your well-deserving qualifications, blame the government as usual?
* What if I told you you're closer to your grave than you think?
I can almost hear you subtly saying to yourself "that's not my portion," really?
Knowing how "religious" we get whenever we come across this subject, it comes as no surprise to me why it is dealt with such laxity.
Yearly, children are being born into absolute squalor where their procreators are neither fit nor capable. It is, to say the least, unfair that these kids are — so to speak — merely products of wild oestrogens and testosterones rather than planned parenthood thereby exposing them to avoidable extremities. And when Nature knocks and the bucket is kicked we leave this helpless children with just themselves to look up to.
So it's time you asked yourself what exactly you are doing for these precious kids (whether they're unborn or already here) and what you intend to leave behind with them when you kiss this world goodbye.
In summary of all these, did you just go to that cross-over service to make that regular new year wishe like you've always done OR are you willing and ready to make this different and INDEED bring those things into reality in 2017?
Have a rethink, go back to that drawing board and do whatever it takes to make this a REAL HAPPY NEW YEAR;
Wish you all the best guys...
Kriss Ray More blessings to you. I'm terribly despondent about Nigerian people. I am ashamed to be so identified. How could a society become so defined? It's a pity |

Toks2008: In my years of existence I have seen many ladies go through series of heartbreak and there seem to be one generic reason for each one of these ladies...."Deciet"
Many ladies know when they are lied to but they tend to accept the deceit no matter how hard they try to caution themselves and at the end they act as though it took them by surprise.
There is one thing the bad guys have come to realize and that is the fact that ladies embrace lies because most of them are embodiment of falsehood from head to toe and no matter how smart a lady may claim to be,it is embedded in the genome of most ladies to love lies because they prefer to hear what they want to hear even if it is an obvious lie.Simply put...JUST TELL A LADY WHAT SHE WANTS TO HEAR AND YOU ARE ALMOST CERTAIN TO HAVE HER WHERE YOU WANT HER.
Tell a conspicuously fat lady she looks slim and she will say thank you with all smiles and tell a less attractive lady she is sexy and you will be her best friend. Even on nairaland, ladies tend to like deceitful comments from smart sharp guys more than sincere ones.
A lady sees a guy in his late 30s or in his 40s and he says he is single and she believes without doing serious due diligence.
A lady sees a guy in his 20s cruising a very costly ride and she believes when he says he is legit without asking serious questions.
A lady will ignore a sincere guy just to fall for a popular playboy because he tells her she is the only love of his life while other ladies are side dishes and that is the lie she wants to hear.
A lady wants a man that will be hers only but will look away from a sweet faithful guy who wants to make her his numero uno to start desiring a cassanova many ladies want.
I can continue endlessly to highlight facts that suggest why ladies will forever fall for great liars but my advice to sincere guys is to continue to be real because it pays and only a lady who is sincere to herself can be with a sincere man.
Many ladies will claim to love sincere guys and will say a guy that lies is a great turn off to them but unfortunately they are the exact opposite of what they say.
My humble submission. As an unmarried man in his 40s with experience, I score you 100%. It even pains me many of these girls finally get husbands. opelyem: I must confess, I admire your philosophy. But I have a reservation. When one is approaching old age, how will such fellow be living his/her life? I mean no child, no spouse, no in-laws. Who is d person living for? I also want to believe sir that you are not eunuch. So how do one satisfy sexual desire in an honourable way in such condition. I am sincerely asking out of curiosity. I did not say it's a crime to marry, or even say we shouldn't marry. I am not married because I couldn't find the partner and wherewithal to be so involved. My problem with Nigeria remains the insistence on everyone being the same - no diversity. The person who doesn't have a wife/husband or children of her/his own will live just like those who do; just like someone who had a spouse who has died. My mother had a husband and children, but now in old age, husband is dead and children are grown up and out. She lives alone like those who didn't have. People who didn't marry their whole lives are rare and hence it is most likely they have siblings themselves, nieces, nephews, inlaws - they're all family. Who are they living for? Who is anybody living for? You're just following the normal reasoning here which is not based on anything but repeated inanity over time. Sexx? Sexx is what happens when you penetrate or are penetrated. I've done it quite a couple of times but I've never been married. If you follow what some people from man's ignorant past dictate to you as to how to live your life, not my fault. It's good to marry, but not nearly as the Nigerian society dictates it and harangue you into it and run away when you end up in problem as a result. Childbirth is worse: 2 children per family or anything more, you're a problem to the country (I don't mean it that strongly, lol). Some may have 3 or 4 but those barren or having none, or one shouldn't be demonised as this society does. IT IS NIGERIANS AND THEIR VALUES THAT ARE DESTROYING NIGERIA! |

Education › Re: N1bn Allowance: EFCC Summons OAU VC, Bursar by blackprowler: 8:47am On Dec 13, 2016 |
Truth234: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has summoned the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Anthony Elujoba, and Bursar, Mrs. Aderonke Akeredolu, over the payment of an ‘unapproved’ hazard allowances to the institution’s workers.
The allowances paid to the academic and non-academic staff, our correspondents gathered, were over N1bn.
It was learnt that the allowances were sourced from the university’s endowment funds account, which is usually dedicated for projects.
But the spokesperson for the university, Mr. Biodun Olarewaju, argued that the specific fund used in paying the allowances was not attached to any project in the account.
It was also gathered that certain allowances earmarked for the office of the VC were also being investigated by the federal agency.
The invitation was confirmed in a letter exclusively obtained by our correspondents on Monday.
The letter, signed by Mr. Oseni Kazeem of the Southwest Zonal Office of the commission in Ibadan, Oyo State, advised the invited officers to come along with necessary documents.
The letter reads in part, “The office is currently investigating a case in which there is the need to obtain clarification from you. In view of the foregoing, you and your bursar are requested to report to our office for an interview.
“You are also to come along with the following documents: the salary payment schedule/any other payment made to senior staff and junior staff in August and September, 2016; payment vouchers relating to furniture allowances paid to the VC from the day he assumed office to date; certified true copies of the monthly salary pay slips of the VC from the day he assumed office to date.”
When contacted on the telephone on Monday, Olarewaju said the payment of the allowances should not be tagged as misappropriation.
He said, “The acting VC has been invited by the EFCC to come and make some clarification and as a law abiding citizen, he will attend. Afterwards, we will know what to do.
“The fund used to pay the allowances cannot amount to misappropriation. The said money was not attached to any project or anything. It was just in the account. And, of course, when the life of a member of the staff of the university was threatened by those who are agitating for the payment, the acting VC had to save the situation by paying the allowances to douse the tension.
“You will agree with me that, since then, there have been peace on campus. It was not that the money was in that account for a particular project and was diverted. The issue of misappropriation does not arise here.”
One of our correspondents learnt that upon resumption of office, the acting VC paid hazard allowances to the workers after continuous protest and unrest in the university.
It would be recalled that the hazard allowances were a major reason why members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities at the institution protested against the former administration headed by Prof. Bamitale Omole.
