CultureRe: What's Wrong With "ghetto" Black Names? by blackspade(m): 6:43am On Jan 21, 2009
hahaha.

I don't have a personal problems with names like "Marqueesha", "Tequan", "Obamaneesha", ect. . , but I think the parents should think more about naming their babies like this.

The reason is because I've heard from others that employers immediately raise a red flag when seeing these type of names on job applications. I wouldn't risk it.

Funny to read though. I'll never understand the inspiration for these names by AA's. . . grin grin grin

PoliticsRe: Lagos Demolition: Fashola Unfair - Victims by blackspade(m): 4:07am On Jan 17, 2009
It's called urban renewal. Lagos is the financial capital of Nigeria, and sooner than you think, it will be the financial capital of Africa's largest economy.

Lagos cannot be considered a "world city" when you have slums sprawling beyond ones eye. Someone has to do this work some time, deal with it.

I know it can be sad for some to be forced out of their homes they've been living in for years, but that's life. It's unfair.

Eventually social housing will be built for these people in another area, so it's a win-win situation in the end.

9jaganja:
Call me what you like but I don't like that Arab emirates investing in Nigeria at all. They are known for threatening to pull out their investments if the country they invested in doesn't obey their policies. I thought the USA should've given us a glimpse of what these so called Arab emirates are like?

Qaddafi is also threatening to pull out his $1trillion worth investment in Africa if AU doesn't agree to his terms. Now the AU is kissing Qaddafi's ass.

Who are these idiots at the top that don't think of a nation's security before allowing just any kind of investors?
True talk. Even though many of these Arab investors have the means to build what they propose, it's just more often than not, they're too demanding.

For example, some Kuwaiti investors are investing over one billion dollars into building a port city near Mombassa, Kenua, but in return they want exclusive rights to mining zones near the port, rights to manage the port, etc. . .

This project is still in talks. I'm not mentioning this to soil the names of Arab investors, it's just that many of them demand much more than others.

So by reading this news, the first thing that comes to my mind is "what's in it for them?". . .

ComputersHaving Problems With "usb Device Not Recognized" Alert (!) by blackspade(op): 1:43am On Jan 17, 2009
To start, I just purchased this laptop about 3 weeks ago, and I haven't had any problems- until today.

When I opened a program, this alert popped up and told me "USB Device Not Recognized", and I checked up on all my USB ports, and had nothing pulgged in.

Then I did some research, and followed a diagnosis someone provided, but it still did nothing.

NOW, I have a problem. The alert "USB Device Not Recognized" pops up about EVERY 15 SECONDS!

It's very annoying, and I'm getting very frustrated at the fact I cannot fix the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this, or even turn off the notice?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, btw.

Ex-officer charged with murder in BART shooting

(CNN) -- A former transit police officer accused of shooting an unarmed man at a Northern California commuter train station has been arrested and charged with murder, an Alameda County district attorney said Wednesday.

"What I feel the evidence indicates is an unlawful killing done by an intentional act," district attorney Tom Orloff told reporters at a news conference.

"From the evidence we have there's nothing that would mitigate that to something lower than a murder," he added. "The murder charge was the appropriate charge given the state of the evidence."

Former Bay Area Rapid Transit Officer Johannes Mehserle, 27, was arrested Tuesday evening in Nevada, Orloff said.

He waived extradition and police officers were transporting him back to California on Wednesday.

Orloff said Mehserle's attorney has invoked his client's right to remain silent.

"In terms of an interview at this point in time, our hands are tied," he said. Video

Mehserle was arrested on a fugitive warrant charging homicide in Nevada.

He is accused of the shooting of Oscar Grant III at an Oakland, California, station on New Year's Day. The incident was captured on video by several witnesses and spurred violent protests in the northern California city.

Mehserle, 27, was taken into custody in Douglas County, Nevada at about 7 p.m., Sgt. Dan Coverly of Douglas County Sheriff's Office told CNN affiliate KGO-TV in San Francisco.

Referring to Mehserle's arrest, BART said, "This comes after the BART Police Department conducted a thorough investigation that involved nine detectives, which BART Police turned over to District Attorney Thomas Orloff on Monday, January 12."

Leads led investigators to Mehserle in Zephyr Cove, Nevada. Contacted through his attorney, Mehserle surrendered.

Jail staff report that Mehserle has cooperated and is in a segregated area and on a precautionary health and welfare watch.

Mehserle resigned from his job as a BART police officer days after the shooting.

Grant, a 22-year-old father, was killed on New Year's Day in a crowded BART train station. Police had been called to the Fruitvale station after passengers complained about fights on a train and took Grant and several other people off the train once they arrived.

Videos from witnesses show Mehserle shooting Grant in the back as another BART officer kneeled on the man. The shooting spawned public outrage and a string of protests that led to more than a hundred riot-related arrests.

Police have not said whether Grant had been involved in the fight.

The Oakland Police Department is running its own investigation into the killing, at the request of Mayor Ron Dellums, Officer Jeff Thomason said Wednesday.

@blackspade you didn't tell us the model of the compaq presario and HP Pavillion you were using so that we may know on what basis you are making ur comparision. I have noticed that a lot of people that replied to this topic usually compare a high end model with a low end model thereby making the wrong assumptions.
I had a compaq presario r3000 for a few years, and it was horrible. I rented (rent-a-center) an hp pavilion dv2988 laptop, and it performed very different to what I expected. It was one of those looks nice on the outside computers.
