Foreign AffairsAustralia On Fire- Described As "Hell On Earth" by blackspade(op): 6:50pm On Feb 10, 2009
I'm surprised nobody made a topic on this HUGE fire still burning in Southwest Australia. The death toll is hovering around 200, and it's expected to rise past 300.

There has also been word that the fires may have been started deliberately, and they also speculate that some [demonic] arsonists re-set the fires after firefighter put them out. undecided

Australia police target arsonists

Police in Australia's wildfire-ravaged state of Victoria say they are confident of catching arsonists they suspect are behind some of the fires.

A 100-strong police investigation squad has been set up, and some scorched towns declared crime scenes.

Australia's Prime Minister Kevin Rudd described the possibility of arson as "murder on a grand scale".

The official death toll stands at 181, but is expected to rise steeply as the operation to recover bodies continues.

About 500 people have been injured and nearly 1,000 homes destroyed across 365,000 hectares (902,000 acres) of torched land, said Mr Rudd.

He told MPs that areas devastated by the worst bushfires in Australia's history would be rebuilt "brick by brick" and "school by school".

Residents in parts of Victoria state are still on alert as more than a dozen fires continue to burn uncontrolled.

Crime scenes

Victoria State Police Commissioner Christine Nixon has launched Operation Phoenix, vowing to catch anyone who started a blaze.

One site where arson is suspected is Gippsland, east of Melbourne, which is among a number of sites which have been sealed off as possible crime scenes.

Australian Attorney-General Robert McClelland said suspected arsonists could face murder charges.

"We are left speechless at the thought and the possibility that some of these fires may have been deliberately lit," Mr Rudd told the Canberra parliament.

"Let us attend to this unfinished business of the nation and come to grips with this evil thing."

The current official death toll is 181, but Victoria State Premier John Brumby has warned that dozens of bodies remain unidentified, with others unrecovered, and the final toll is likely to exceed 200.

Ms Nixon said rescuers were carrying out a thorough search of charred areas.

"Road by road, house by house, we are working our way through," she said.

"As we go into areas now that we haven't been able to get into before, we believe we'll find many more."

Forensic investigators from around the country, including experts who helped to identify those killed in the Bali bombings in October 2002, have flown in to help with the operation.

Mr Brumby has announced a judicial inquiry into the disaster, and authorities will review current policy on bushfires, such as allowing homeowners to stay and defend their properties.

Rebuilding

Mr Rudd pledged that damaged communities would be rebuilt, with no limit on federal spending, and he appealed for charitable donations.

The Australian Red Cross said A$31.2m (US$21m; £14m) had been donated by individuals, local authorities in Australia and corporations.

It has appealed for blood, money and clothes, as some people escaping from the fires fled their homes with only the clothes they were wearing.

US President Barack Obama was among a number of leaders from around the world who called Mr Rudd to offer condolences and help.

Talk of arson in the town of Whittlesea, north of Melbourne, provoked immediate fury, reports the BBC's Phil Mercer.

The thought that some of the devastation was man-made is, to many locals, incomprehensible, he reports.

A record heat wave and changing wind direction on Saturday helped fan the flames.

Many people are searching for loved ones among the survivors taking refuge in Victoria's relief centres.

Relatives concerned about family members in the affected areas can contact the Australian Red Cross 24-hour helpline on (0061) 393283716 or, from the UK, the British Red Cross international tracing and message service on 0845 053 2004.

Negro,

I concur. Zionists are to Judaism as the Taliban/al-qaeda are to Islam. They're all barbaric extremist entities and must be condemned. The West tolerate Zionism because of Holocaust guilt. Maybe if 6 million Muslims are massacred, they'll get similar sympathy from the West; who knows?

My sentiments exactly.

TravelRe: Tell Us About The City Where You Live by blackspade(m): 5:49pm On Feb 10, 2009
I live in Los Angeles, California.

The city is pretty famous, and is synonymous with Hollywood (since it's in the city limits). The city is very organized, and is home to people from all over the world.

The most dominant group here by far are Mexicans, but the city is still extremely diverse. Nigerians are about 50,000 in population, spread throughout the city limits, and suburbs (but rapidly growing).

Cost of living here can be expensive- depending on where you live. Since this whole financial crisis, the cost of living has went down tremendously, but still, in some places prices are ridiculous.

As of right now, all of the areas mentioned are in the midst of a financial crisis- with America and Britian already in negative GDP growth (recession).

Australia and Canada have relatively healthy economies (compared to their counterparts). Australia is still experiencing healthy growth partly because of demand for raw materials from China.

Canada is still growing pretty healthy because of fiscal responsibility, along with domestic industrial growth. To top it off, both Australia and Canada are desperate for immigrants- both demand over 300,000 annually.

This is sad. A woman is helping to organize the rape of other women- just to screw them up mentally in order to lure them into blowing themselves up.

This woman is on the same level as the [Nigerian] female Madams who lure young girls to Italy, and force them to sell themselves until they pay €50,000. cry

It's pretty sad some of the people in this thread are taking this as comedy, suicide in NOT a laughing matter, especially on the internet.

Bigmodo, if this is indeed an act of comedy, you have gone TOO far. Joking about taking your own life is not funny, it's a serious matter.

If I were the owner of this site, I wouldn't take this as a joke at all.

Anyways, back to you wanting to travel abroad. . . This is probably the worst time to travel abroad. If you're jobless in Naija, I'm not so sure how you'll make it abroad.

Electricity here i think it's the best in Africa, police are number one in Africa i guess u guy's knw that too,the city is wel orgnised.
You guys can ask Uti ( the last edition of BBA) we met here in Angola and he confirmed it.
Bruv, I believe it, and I agree.

Angola has recorded the fastest growth on the continent these last 5 years, and it's rebuilding process is amazing to put it lightly.

With oil prices going down, growth won't be as fast as these last few years, but with growth in the non-oil sectors, and domestic consumption on the rise, I know Angola will make it.

Their Agricultural campaign is also a great example for Africa. All great economies start off from Agriculture, which boosts industrial production.

In 10 years time, I guarantee you Angola will be amongst the top 5 developed countries in Africa.

btw, do you take pictures when you're in Angola? Looking at your page, I can tell you're in Luanda.

To see the full scope of how fast Angola is growing, you can check this site out. There is also a vast picture gallery, feel free to post pics if you can! cheesy

This is great news, still, but since I've taken in this news, I can't help but feel a bit uneasy.

Do you know how many BILLIONS of dollars pharmaceutical companies in America make from producing Insulin? Have you also noticed how this has yet to be featured on any major paper in the 'western world'?

I have a theory why- They don't want people to know. Can you imagine the reaction of over 100 million people worldwide when they hear about a scientist in Nigeria finding a cure? They'd give up that insulin in a hot second.

But sadly, there's a possibility those people will never hear about this. You know why? It all goes back to the dollar bills being made from insulin.

If I were the man who found the cure, I'd really be careful about what I do, and what I sign. American corporations are notorious for duping scientists, or paying them to take their work back underground.

Sam Milla:
Lets deal with facts and not buildings or oil income. Buildings doesn't necessarily mean development. We must put into consideration, the GDP per capita. We must divide the income of each country with their population, land mass and every other thing that benefits from the country's income.

Equatorial Guinea is the richest. So, u guys should stop deceiving yourselves.

The best statistical reseach on such matters is provided by the the Worldbank.
Here is a link to the data for 2007.
http://siteresources.worldbank.org/DATASTATISTICS/Resources/GNIPC.pdf

It seems like everyone is distorted with the facts! the richest countries are ranked below.

Richest Countries in Africa

Rank Country GDP - per capita

1 Equatorial Guinea $ 50,200

2 Mauritius $ 13,500

3 South Africa $ 13,000

4 Libya $ 12,700

5 Botswana $ 11,400

6 Tunisia $ 8,600

7 Seychelles $ 7,800

8 Algeria $ 7,700

9 Namibia $ 7,400

10 Gabon $ 7,200
Rubbish talk.

GDP per capita IS NOT an accurate way to judge a country's development especially when talking about Africa.

E.G. may have the highest GDP per capita on the continent, but it's "development" sure in the hell doesn't represent that.

The most accurate way IMO to determine a country's development would be using it's HDI (Human Development Index).

Educate yourself by looking into this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Development_Index

Sam Milla:
Clearly South Africa is comparable to a European country.
Clearly to who, a brain dead retard?

LOL, you can start comparing S.A. to European countries once S.A. has an effective police force, has a health program that actually tries to eradicate diseases instead of pretending they don't exist, etc. . .

I'm so very sorry to hear about your situation. Like others have suggested, Nigeria is large enough for you to conceal yourself w/o your guy finding you. You should also notify someone close (ie. family best friends, co-workers, etc. . .) to you of this situation. I hope the very best for you. HealthRe: What Are Your Thoughts On Marijuana? by blackspade(op): 9:41pm On Jan 26, 2009
I think it should be legalized, but heavily regulated. . . .similar to what they do with Alcohol.

If you are over the age of 18, I think you should have every right to consume marijuana anyway you like.

For the growers, they should be required to be licensed, and this also need to be regulated, making sure the growers are only growing for personal usage.

P.S. Why is this in the health section? If anything, it should be moved to the politics forum because I asked whether or not you feel it should be legalized.
