Should've been more serious about diversifying the economy. . . . . .hopefully no one is surprised by this news. . . . . .what is it, above 90% of revenue comes from oil/gas? Too bad, too sad. . . . .hopefully the people up top learn from this failure, and Nigeria's economy will change its current course, and develop smartly. No more ignoring crucial sectors like agriculture, the private sector, manufacturing, tourism, etc. . . |

^ No, my question was name a country that has a space program, while they don't have food security, and depend heavily on food imports. You said Russia, and Russia has utilized its arable lands already, and imports the rest because it is unable to grow those crops, whereas Nigeria has hundreds of thousands of acres of arable land that goes unused, mostly because of misappropriated funding, such as this. |
DeepZone:lol, Russia has nearly utilized all of it's arable lands, and the only reason it can't be self sufficient is because of it's frozen soils that prove it hard to farm on. Nigeria barely utilizes any of it's arable land, imports food products more often than not from countries OUTSIDE of Africa, and is still wanting to give the green light for this? You Fail at providing an example of a country that doesn't have food security, and heavily depends on imports. |
morpheus24:Well, to start off, I said "hardly have", and it's partially true. Can you honestly say you can travel to Addis Ababa, or Tripoli and feel like you have things in common with the local population? There are many cultural, physical, and linguistic differences on our vast, diverse continent, and it is virtually unknown to many outsiders. I fully recognize my Afrikan peoples', and know we do have some aspects that unite us into one entity, but there are many differences that many do not consider. That's all I'm saying, and I'm NOT trying to created any divides in any way, just pointing out the facts. |
Africa is a CONTINENT, not a COUNTRY. All Americans have that habit of calling Africa a country, and not realizing that this is the most diverse continent on Earth. West, South, North, and East Africans hardly have common traits, and our cultures are so different, with Bantus having the most in common, but still we are still very different. |
Please, get a good education (preferably abroad), and surround yourself with good influences, and think about the people, not yourself. |
He's been doing great job with Lagos, I do wish there were more Fashola's in other states. |

@ DeepZone Name me one country that has a space program, but DOESN'T have food security, and depends heavily on imports. I'll Wait! https://static.stickam.com/media/video/converted/1736/3929/6/983B337C-4366-11DB-AD70-F4A7242849F0.flv.jpg |
It is very much possible, if you pay attention to the business section of the newspapers, these plans are unfolding day by day, and action is being taken. For example, they're already estimating how much money they need to allocate to match the power needs of present day, and for the future, PLUS, the government is taking a China-like (as in not exactly) approach to increased growth of industries, which will lower the unemployment rate, severely. |
I can probably list a million more important things N59,000,000,000 could go to. A few would be Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Education, etc. . . . , hopefully our people up top realize this and hold this project back a few years, until other sectors are given more attention. |

Bloods & Crips- African-American tribalism at it's finest (or should I say worst)? https://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m255/biggbaddwolff/OneCripOneBlood.jpg 400 years in America, and they still haven't lost the divide & conquer mentality they were fooled into? |
