Money transfer service to Nigeria suspended Dear customer, As you may have seen in the media, almost all international money transfer operators have been forced to suspend transfers to Nigeria. Unfortunately, WorldRemit and Azimo are among them. This has happened because of drastic and unforeseen action taken by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Our local partners have been told they can no longer process transfers to bank accounts. There was no advance warning that this was going to happen and the money transfer companies affected had no opportunity to appeal. WorldRemit believes this action to be unfair and we are currently contesting it. In the mean-time, we are not able to accept new money transfer requests to Nigeria. We are working to complete all pending transfers. In the limited number of cases where this is not possible, we will communicate with you and arrange a refund. Our mobile airtime service is unaffected. If you have previously sent money to Nigeria with us, we will provide updates on the situation by email. Kind regards, The WorldRemit team |

lobito007: I live in Germany.. 1. that your 2,500 euro take home have you removed your 2 bed room flat accommodation of 600 euro monthly 2. have you removed 80 euro monthly for AOK insurance 3. have you removed 85 euro monthly for electricity and also remove water bill? 4. have you added some years to integrate here to work in German company after graduation cos language is key here? 5. Have you removed 135 car insurance monthly or 150 train ticket to work monthly depending on where you live this calculation is based on earning 2500 which is never posible all u can eran after tax is 1600 and they are all gobe on bills bills bilss. 600 or 700 euro monthly on houseing at 400 naira per euro is 280k naira per month just for house rent .... does this not pay rent in naija for a year in come cities like Benin? so when you come here you go understand.. also the graduating rate here is very low... how many nairaland guys u don see came back here to thank God they have graduated? If you fail any exam here 3 times then you are kicked out and ex-matriculated.. and their grading system high cos u need 50 to have ordinary pass grade as 4.0 rather than naija where 40 is pass and 50 which is ordinary pass here is credit in naija, uk and usa and Canada. Their grading system here is killing. German machines... 7 Likes |

Bad News Bad News Bad news Policy Implications - CBN finally floats the naira today... By the new exchange rate regime, CBN would allow the Naira to float against the US dollar at the inter-bank market, rather than holding on to a fixed peg. What this means, however, is that buyers of foreign exchange for importation of goods, holiday, school fees, medical tourism, online payments etc, will have to source from the inter-bank market-determined rates and will no longer be able to buy forex at N199 or whatever official rate the CBN decides to adopt.
