Hi PTH Not exactly true. It is possible that evil is merely a consequence of our own actions.I'm not sure I understand. If evil is merely a consequence of our actions, then does that not mean that we have been given the choice between good and evil? Besides out of the over 100 "gods" presently jostling for recognition, which one do you assume gave you freewill? That's the beauty of freethinking: I don't have to pick any God. I just acknowledge that there is one and treat people the way I wish to be treated. Choosing one God is best left to those who wish to be part of a religious group. However i'm still at a loss as to how you expect to reach a "god" you don't know. Merely knowing a god exists is not enough. The question is which one? How and to whom does "he" reach out to? Which is the way to him?Now you are asking questions that are clearly from a religious perspective (I'm guessing, Christian). For me, acknowledging that God exists is enough. He reaches out to me through my experiences. I have a bad experience and I know he's trying to teach me something. He speaks to me through by my friends and also my conscience. |
PTH:I believe there is a creator because when I look around me, I see the complexities of nature and even the human body, I believe that whoever created it is of higher intelligence/power. I know we have been given free will because good and evil exist in the world and we all have the ability to choose our own path. I just don't believe that one has to be in a religious group to worship God. Religion was created by human beings. |
dominobaby:God has given us free will to make a choice. There were no conditions attached to the free will. Free thinking is a choice. The OP does not have to belong to any religious group because we can all think for ourselves. She just needs to do what she knows in her heart is right. |
Seun In my opinion, yes it does. I don't notice any difference between light browsing at home and at work. |
Shaunscot I thought the song was nice and clean and the part where he apologises to his family seemed heartfelt. I still wonder why he had to do in it so publicly in a song, though. I listened to the song several times before I realised that he didn't really apologise about the scandal. Akon is careful about how he expresses himself regarding the incident. When he apologises to his family, he apologises for things he did wrong. In the part where he talked about the incident, he says things like "I am sorry for the embarassment that she felt". He blamed the girl's father and Club Zen (he was spot on). He only took the blame because he loved his fans. He even says, "Even though the blame's on you, I'll take that blame from you". Taking the blame, but not apologising, was a very smart move. I don't care too much for Akon because he has made quite a few ignorant comments in interviews and I find his performances degrading to women. However, this song reminds me that no matter what I think of Akon, he has feelings and makes mistakes like the rest of us. Fair play to the guy. He's smarter than I give him credit for. Just my opinion. |
The British Computer Society deal with ECDL certification in the UK. Website: http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=nav.7062 Contact tel: 01793 417530. They should be able to provide details of centres where you can take the ECDL exams. Regarding the A+ exams, you can contact Prometric on 0800 592 873 (Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 18:00 GMT) or PearsonVue on 0800 7319 905 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.). Prince22:I beg to differ. It's not what the ladies wear or the men's hairstyles that is creating Nigeria's bad image. People have every right to wear whatever they want regardless of our individual opinion on the matter. Don't the governor and police force have real problems to deal with? Who appointed them as the people's moral compass? Both the police and governor need to keep out of other people's business and go do something constructive with their time. They've got a hidden agenda, I tell you. |
ayinba1:I agree. It's so easy to blame others rather than look to change ourselves. It's because stories like http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007350816,00.html are becoming quite regular and that's why Nigeria has a bad image. I wish the press would acknowledge that there are many decent, hardworking Nigerians who also find such acts deplorable. All countries have their fair share of corruption. The only difference between corruption in Nigeria and other countries is that in other countries, it's more subtle. On a positive note, Ireland has its first black mayor, a Nigerian. I wish him all the best! http://utvinternet.com/newsroom/indepth.asp?id=83318&pt=n |
If it's just for the exam, then colleges or smaller training providers are the best option. What certification exams are you interested in? |
Seun:Akon isn't a perv oh! I don't like Akon but he wasn't to blame. Anyone going to Akon's performances knows they can get very raunchy. If I tell my father that I'm going out for ice-cream, the last thing I'll do is end up on a stage with Akon and dance like that. Pastor blamed everyone except himself or his daughter and therein lies the problem. This wasn't the first time Pastor's daughter had done some raunchy dancing in a club. Now pastor's daughter talk say from now on, she go only dance in the house of the Lord. Pastor pikin, hmmmmm ![]() |
Seun:Broadband is not as fast as access on a LAN (except for that Swedish grandmother who has a 40Gb/s connection!). In the UK, I believe one can get speeds of up to 8Mbps (don't know anyone who actually achieves 8Mbps though). On average, I get 1Mbps at home. On my office network, I get 100Mbps. I used to use dialup to access a web application on the office network and it was very slow. I now use broadband to connect to the same application and it does not take very long to load. With regards to web access, I don't really notice much difference except when I'm downloading or uploading files. |
RuuDie:I started writing poetry after my first heartbreak when I was in secondary school. For me, poetry was a way of expressing my deepest feelings in a way that I couldn't with anyone. I found it quite therapeutic. If I remember correctly, my first poem was called, 'Broken Promises'. Very depressing stuff. I still write poetry when I feel inspired but they are now more positive. |
My honest opinion is that if you are really in love, you wouldn't be wondering about his age and no one (not even your parents) will be able to stop you from marrying the guy. You won't even be thinking that about the colour of the grass on the other side of the fence. All I can say is that if you have any doubts, it's best to wait. This is one of those situations that no one can advise you on. Good luck and I hope you make the decision that's best for you. |

Hi The training providers I know are http://www.learningtree.co.uk/ and http://www.parity.net/ but it depends on what courses you are interested in and if will the course fees will be paid for by your employer or yourself. |
It took her 2.5 mins from meeting the guy to entering the car and the delivery of the lines was cringeworthy. It looked like a naija movie, though! What on earth was all that 'cookie' stuff about? ![]() |
Why would I thank him? I've never heard this one before oh ![]() |
IDINRETE:Repent or else what? Don't be so dramatic. It's light hearted humour and it is funny ![]() |
jayon:Stick to Jesus if you wish, but do not attempt to discredit other religions in the process. |
IMO, the bible is a book filled with stories about God. It wasn't inspired by God. Most of the stories in the bible were handed down by word of mouth before they were eventually written by human beings. When stories are handed that way, they are not told exactly as they occurred. Also, some of the stories told in the bible are symbolic, some literal, some inaccurate and some are pure fiction. Jesus was a middle eastern Jew so he would look like an Arab, not like the pale skinned guy shown in pictures. |

Thanks for that. It made interesting reading. |

or feel "validated" by this piece of news. I am a Nigerian and I am not more corrupt than the average American, Chinese, Indian, European. In fact, I am less corrupt beecause I am a minority and I will not get way with what they would get away with.
