Etin:Yes, it is. Some people are only brave behind their computers. |
ifeanyi212:Ifeanyi212 Educational background plays a part but I think manners and emotional intelligence are also contributory factors. |
Etin Your observations are spot on. Some people on Nairaland can start an argument in an empty room. However, there are many polite people here so it evens things out quite nicely. |
It's great to be able to interact with so many Naijas. I've learned a lot on this site. |
Claudia I can't see why she's complaining. Did she really think she was the only girl he was communicating with on the internet? If he's a freak and she's not a freak, then she should leave him for the other freaks on the internet. Tell her to take this experience as a fundamental lesson in internet dating and move on. She'll get over him. |
Whether you move on or tell him how you feel depends on *why* he doesn't trust you anymore but you haven't said what the mistake was. |
What's happening with the chess group? |
Bossman:Well said! |
Johnpeace Asking advice on the direction you should take will leave you confused because developers here will have different views based on their own experiences. There's a lot of information about certifications and different programming languages on the internet. Why not do a bit of research on different programming languages and the market for them? It will make it easier for you to decide. Once you've decided on the language, learn to use it properly. Programming is very involved and can be very frustrating hence the need for coffee, tea or paracetamol. The key is to learn the basics and then practise a lot using small projects and working your way up. After that, you can consider certification. Certification, without experience, has little value. There are too many certified professionals who know all the basic concepts but find they are out of their depth when it comes to solving real business problems. Good luck! |
latubu17 Would help if you were specific about the programming languages required on your project. Besides experience beats qualifications everytime. Good luck with your search. |
Analyt82 Whoa! Whoa! Where did all that come from? The second paragraph was just a general comment and was not directly aimed at you. Don't take it personally. PMSL ![]() |
Stanoz.com:I'm quite stunned myself. Never heard of half of them and had to google them |
mazaje:Mazaje, Well said! |
Hi Analyt82 Since you were referring to me. I would like to respond. You say the heart will lead you astray. It appears you took my statement literally. By saying that she should do what she knows in her heart is right, I'm not referring to emotions. I mean that she should be led by her conscience. Life is a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. We may all take different routes (some longer than others) but we'll get to our destination in the end. I think the OP should be allowed to go on her journey as she pleases without judgement being passed on her. She does not have to belong to a religious group unless that is her choice. That's just my opinion. |
I can't believe people still fall for these scams. All these scams have obvious tell tale signs: poor use of english and punctuation, contact email addresses are free web based email accounts and the sender often writes silly stuff like "How are you and your family". Since when has any legit organisation written to anyone enquiring about their family? As much as I detest scams, I find it difficult to sympathise with 'victims' of scams (except the dating, ID and credit card theft scams). What bothers me even more are the scams where cloned cards are used to take money fraudulently from people's accounts. You go to withdraw money from the ATM and you get that dreaded message: "Insufficient funds". You check your with your bank and all your money's gone and you know you didn't spend it! Some f**ker in another country has withdrawn all your money and is on a spending spree with your hard earned cash. What's the world coming to? |
kelechiodo:Definitely. I've learned that once a relationship is over, there's not point in dwelling on it. The earlier one starts to focus on other things, the faster the healing process. I once had my heartbroken and it took me about 2 years to recover because I had convinced myself that he was the love of my life and I would never love anyone else. |
So this argument is still going on? Na wa oh! |
The last one took about two hours. |
I no dey vex so no problem ![]() |
Pilgrim.1 I don't agree with Kun's use of the word 'cracker' and any generalisations he made but then you went on to make the sweeping statements about non-religious people hence my comment. Re: the URLs, I added the links to support my statement. There was no need for you to respond with guns blazing. |
pilgrim.1 Black African men without a religion are the ones raping women and children.I beg to differ. Examples of what african men of the cloth have done:
[li]Renegade Pastor Rapes 13 Yr-Old Girl http://allafrica.com/stories/200706290713.html[/li] [li]64 year old church pastor found guilty of raping 8 year old girl http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/6272043.stm[/li]
The same black African men without religion are the ones plundering their own countries and breeding the state of affairs that leave Africa "at the bottom of the pile".I disagree.
[li]Frederick Chiluba served as Zambia's president for 11 years. He wished to see the bible in the hand of every Zambian because, according to him, "The word of God is alive and has the power to shape families and the whole society. People seek the truth, so they must be enabled to experience the liberating power of the gospel." The word of God didn't stop him from stealing from his people. He was found guilty of embezzlement.[/li] [li]And there's Jolly Nyame, a reverend; Femi Fani-Kayode, a deacon; Obasanjo, a born again, the list goes on. . . [/li]
but you often fail to realize that your own people are the ones doing more damage to themselves without outside help.Human beings, both religious and non-religious, have committed crimes but keep blaming the ills of the world on non-religious people if it makes you feel better. |
timmy7:Dumbass is small stuff compared to some of the venom I get from religious people. Everyone goes on about Nigerians being scammers. . . well, religion is the biggest scam in the history of the world and Nigerians didn't even create it. However, we've taken the idea and are running wildly with it. . . Religion was created with one purpose in mind - to control. Each to his own. |
simply_me:If they don't do it with peace and dexterity, someone will knock seven bells out of them. I've seen people preach on the streets but it's rarely Oyibo people preaching (except for Jehovah's Witnesses). It's often black people with their glossy leaflets wanting to share the word. . . |
As long as Fashola's doing it for the right reason, it's a good thing. If people want to hear the 'word', they can go to places of worship - there are many to choose from |
Why would pastors need armed policemen or pistol as security? Pastors should have more faith in God. God protects his children, doesn't He? Perhaps some pastors don't even believe the stuff they preach so they need backup just in case. |
Kobe, hater is such a strong word. Just because people don't share your views on 'the Christian God' does not make them haters. Is it not enough for you that *you* believe God is great? Una just like to argue. |
PTH:Mine is not about God's existence. It's about bilocation ![]() |
m_nwankwo:St Alphonsus's bilocation experience went on for hours and ended about the time the Pope died. Alphosus was a bishop and there were many priests and domestics who watched him as he awoke because they were concerned. He told them that he had been assisting the Pope. There were high ranking members of the church who were at the pope's bedside when he died. Alphonsus has been documented as being present when the pope died. The formal news of the Pope's death gave the day and time of death and it coincided with the time Alphonsus awakened from his trance. |
Do you believe that there are witches and wizard? Do you know how they operate? How can one use science to explain the activities of a witch who sleeps at say Abuja and at the same time operating in Canada - the journey can be completed within seconds. It's called bilocation and it is a paranormal phenomenon because it violates the known laws of physics. Many mystics, saints, monks and other holy people have experienced it. St. Alphonsus Liguori had several involuntary experiences. In 1774, the saint fell into a trance in his cell and when he came out of the trance he said he had just visited the bedside of the dying Pope Clement XIV. Credible witnesses confirmed that he had been seen at the Pope's bedside despite the fact that during the same time, he was confined to a cell in a location that was a four-day journey away. It's not only practitioners of witchcraft that bilocate. |
This is a classic example of the muddled thinking of he who considers himself a "freethinker". Is it possible to NOT have to pick a father but merely acknowledge that a father exists? It is not muddled thinking. Your questions, once again, are from a religious perspective. As I said before, religion is man made so man is the one setting all these conditions, criteria and dictating that one makes a choice with regards to a god. I ask questions and make a judgement based on reason, not blind faith. I believe in treating people the way I wish to be treated because that is more important than any religion. Like every appliance we use in everyday life, God has His own manual. To pretend to have a relationship with Him outside that manual is to decieve yourself. Even witches and devils can also claim to be reaching out to "God" through their own experiences. So which is God's manual? The Bible? The Qu'ran? The Torah? This is getting to be one long debate. |
