Christianity EtcChurch Billboards Must Now Carry Pictures Of Pastor & Pastor Mrs?? by Blofeld(op): 1:32pm On Jun 13, 2012
I just noticed recently that most church heads have subscribed to the idea of "advertising" their "investments" by erecting colourful billboards of all sizes in strategic locations around most towns in Naija. Most often these billboards carry the photograph of the Church head and his wife in a familiar posture. Now, must these billboards carry "photoshoped" pictures or is this supposed to be an attraction to the advertised Church? Is a Pastor's face a necessity on these boards? People please air your views on this!

Nairaland GeneralSpurious Academic Degrees On Your FACEBOOK Profiles? by Blofeld(op): 6:33am On May 15, 2012
I run into a lot of people I really know in Facebook and while viewing their walls I see spurious claims of attending so, so and so universities when I know very well that they didn't. Some also claim to reside in Abuja, Lagos, Portharcourt etc whereas they are breathing in the village as I type. Why this sorry attitude? Is this a complex of sorts? Share your opinions. Cheers.
Christianity EtcRe: Someone Should Please Explain 1 Cor 7:36 For Me, I'm Confused! by Blofeld(op): 11:26pm On May 11, 2012
Mr_Anony: I want you to live as free of complications as possible. When you're unmarried, you're free to concentrate on simply pleasing the Master. Marriage involves you in all the nuts and bolts of domestic life and in wanting to please your spouse, leading to so many more demands on your attention. The time and energy that married people spend on caring for and nurturing each other, the unmarried can spend in becoming whole and holy instruments of God. I'm trying to be helpful and make it as easy as possible for you, not make things harder. All I want is for you to be able to develop a way of life in which you can spend plenty of time together with the Master without a lot of distractions.
If a man has a woman friend to whom he is loyal but never intended to marry, having decided to serve God as a "single," and then changes his mind, deciding he should marry her, he should go ahead and marry. It's no sin; it's not even a "step down" from celibacy, as some say. On the other hand, if a man is comfortable in his decision for a single life in service to God and it's entirely his own conviction and not imposed on him by others, he ought to stick with it. Marriage is spiritually and morally right and not inferior to singleness in any way, although as I indicated earlier, because of the times we live in, I do have pastoral reasons for encouraging singleness.

1 Corinthians 7: 32 - 38 (MSG)

I hope this translation helps you understand it better. The passage isn't permitting pre-marital sex. I have included the extra verses for context. God bless.
Thanks a bunch!

tpia@:
i have issues with christians who always [emphasis on always] wait for others to explain things and never take any initiative to actually study the bible quietly with a goal to enriching themselves personally.

this isnt meant as a criticism of you, but is just an observation. If it doesnt apply to you, then ignore the comment.

@ topic

read the whole chapter and you'll get a better picture.

the verse is referring to men who are engaged to be married. If the engagemant period is getting too long and the man can no longer wait, then he should go ahead and marry his betrothed.

behaveth unseemly means if he's desiring to consumate the relationship and can no longer hold himself.
I've never observed that it is a crime to fail to understand or misunderstand stuff you read so the ISSUES you have with some Christians is left for you to thrash out alone. However your explanation makes sense to me and I'll be a hypocrite if I dont admit it. Cheers!
Christianity EtcSomeone Should Please Explain 1 Cor 7:36 For Me, I'm Confused! by Blofeld(op): 10:45pm On May 11, 2012
The passage in question is as follows: "But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry." (1 Corinthians 7:36).
I'm at a loss as to what St Paul was driving at here. All my mind is telling me is that this passage endorses premarital se'x. I need answers pls!
Christianity EtcRe: Uncomfortable Questions For Tithe Preachers by Blofeld(m): 5:42am On May 06, 2012
Interesting. I feel that if one can contribute to social causes like old boys associations, motherless babies charities and the likes according to one's financial standing then it is definitely very important as well to contribute to the Church which need funds to procure new equipment/ properties and maintain existing ones among other Church needs. This not withstanding, I see it as a big scam to indoctrinate worshipers with unfounded ideas that God will will not bless those who do not give out 10% of their earnings to His cause. It is criminal to teach this. Cheers buddies!

Hey, Physics gurus on NL, lets share our thoughts on what there specimens may imply. I'm quite sure theses gonna be some weighing in air, in liquid L and in water. The upthrusts exerted on the masses by both liquids might be used for some graph work, LovePeddler slope or gradient may have something to do with the relative density of liquid L.

Question1- retort stand with clamp; spring balance; two beakers, 500cm cube
a) containing water
and labelled water
b) containing
kerosene and
labelled liquid L; set
of masses 50g, 100g, 150g, 200g, 250g; thread about 1m.
I think the specimen listed above is to determine the relative density of kerosine (liquid L). Kindly come up with how the questions might be twisted.

Da Mayor: This post has to be a joke. Now i think the author should check the definition of "wind farm" before using the heading. the most commonly used wind turbines generate 3.5mw of electricity each. Hence i will assume there are only 3 turbines in this "farm". A standard wind farm has btw 50-200 turbines to be qualified as a "Wind farm"
Oh Nigeria! i weep for thee. Another waste project

tit: UYCO, are there streetlights in every street in sapele?
how many billions did it cost uduaghan to install street lights on one street?
what will power the streetlights? solar? do you know a kw of electricity from solar costs twice as much as the equivalent from gas?
if the gov has a brain on his shoulders, it is easy for him to find something that will get a much better return on investment for delat state than to spend 7billion naira improving an airport now.
Ask me my brother!
PoliticsRe: Delta Govt Votes ₦7.4bn To Demolish Hills Around Airport In 10 Days by Blofeld(m): 10:27pm On Apr 11, 2012
Someone once said that the Asaba airport project was initiated to serve as a drain pipe to embezzle the state's treasury. What could be more true than this? 7.4 billion naira can build some factories around the state and take many of the idle vibrant youths off the streets. How long are we going to continue like this?
