Three buildings were razed down in the Ajebandele village, Osun State, on Sunday, as a tanker laden with petrol exploded there.

Investigation by Punch Metro revealed that the tank compartment suddenly detached from the vehicle and exploded on the Ife/Ondo Road.

The driver of the truck, it was gathered, ran away with the truck’s head to escape being attacked by the villagers.

A villager, Olatunji Adio, told Punch correspondent that the incident happened around 4.30am, adding that the resultant fire raged for about five hours before firefighters extinguished it.

He said three buildings were lost to the fire.

According to him, beside several sacks of dried cocoa belonging to the villagers, which were destroyed, cash and other valuables were also lost to the inferno.

He explained that many travellers plying the road early in the morning were stranded as half of the road was made impassable for hours because of the raging fire.

When contacted, the Administrative Officer of the Osun State Fire Service, Fatai Aremu, said no live was lost to the incident.

Terrified residents saw the highly venomous Philippine cobra in a rice field in Davao del Sur in the south of the country.

It had killed the reticulated python and swallowed it whole, with only its victim's tail hanging from its jaws.

Benue perm sec, wife, children die in fire outbreak

A senior official in the employ of Benue State government, Serker Akaa , his wife and two children were early hours of this morning burnt to death in a fire incident which engulfed their house in Makurdi. Daily Trust gathered that the official who until his death, was an acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology met his death alongside his family about 2:00 am on Monday at their residence in Kwararafa Quarters of Makurdi metropolis.

Witnesses alleged the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. But, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent by telephone, said the cause of the fire was yet unknown.


Anene said the corpse of the deceased government official and three of his family members who died in the fire have been recovered by the police and deposited at a hospital morgue. More details later….

Corpses of couple has been abandon in Calabar, the Cross River State capital due to land dispute, Brainnews report.

A Facebook user, with the username; Otuboh Godwin has narrated how the corpses of a man and his wife have been abandoned for over five days, due to land dispute in Ikot Uduak, a community in Calabar.

According to the Facebook user , Godwin, sequel to the couple’s death, the village head stepped in to claim ownership of their land, insisting that the deceased couple do not belong to the community.

The son of the deceased however, in his statement, stated that the land belongs to their family and they are still in possession of the land documents. He also maintained that his grandfather bought the land and passed it on to his dad who lived there all his life and raised 11 children.

Stressing further, the deceased son explained that the land dispute started immediately his parents died, and the village head stopped him and his siblings from burying their parents in the compound.

Air Peace Signs a Firm Order for Three additional E195-E2 jets, makes debut appearance at the 2019 Dubai Airshow

AIR Peace, Nigeria and West Africa’s largest airline , has signed a contract with Embraer for three additional E195-E2s, confirming purchase rights from the original contract, signed in April this year. The airline also made its debut appearance at the 2019 Dubai Airshow on Sunday, November 17, 2019.

These new E195-E2s will be included in Embraer’s 2019 fourth-quarter backlog and have a value of USD 212.6 million, based on Embraer’s current list prices.

Set to be the first E-Jets E2 operator in Africa, Air Peace’s firm order, announced in April this year, is now for 13 E195-E2s with 17 purchase rights for the same model. The first delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020.


“The E195-E2 is the perfect aircraft to expand our operations in Africa and this new order is a further confirmation of our ‘no-city-left-behind initiative which we shall continue to execute”, said Air Peace Chairman/CEO, Mr. Allen Onyema.

He added, “We are receiving impressive data about the aircraft’s economics now that is in revenue service, and this was a driver to place this new firm order with Embraer. We look forward to receiving our first aircraft, which will enhance connectivity in Nigeria and the African region, while feeding long-haul flights from our Lagos hub.” from our Lagos hub.”

Air Peace subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper, started operating six ERJ145 jets last year on short thin routes. Air Peace’s E195-E2s will be configured in a comfortable dual-class arrangement with 124 seats. Air Peace operates more than 20 local, regional, and international routes and has strategic plans to expand those routes.
