Lol , There's no such things as whining or feeling in a general collectivism . this thread is for discussion. People can be forced to leave. Donald Duke sent many Akwa ibomites away from Calabar. Most Efiks still feel most Akwa ibom should be sent away from Calabar and that's the fact.
there are many ways to send people away. 1 . expel them from university of Calabar or CRUTECH and reduce or refuse admission to akwa ibomites, 2. expel them from the civil service and other jobs 3. refuse to rent to them. 4. demolish their homes with an excuse that a road will be built there. etc.
the rest of your ramblings about imaginary figures you are obsessed with is dumb and not worth a reply.
Yawn you're whining like a wounded animal. If they can force them to leave bother your representatives to do so. Crying on nairaland isnt the solution.

1. The university of calabar is a federal University mumu.

2. Lol that's probably not legal but do so.

3. Lol you think the landlords care about your feeling when they're looking for profits.

4. Lol you're going have to demolish all surrounding houses and compensate thousands which the stste too broke to do. Only an idiot will wake up and advocate the destruction of their economy.

That will never happen. listen even if akwa ibom and southern cross river are made regions,we efiks will always preferto stay on our own . that's the truth. Most Efiks want Akwa ibom people escially ibibio and annang to leave Calabar and Cross river and go back to their states. All Efiks would agree with me on that one . I said Akwa ibom government should work towards relocating akwa ibomite scattered around the country doing menial jobs and prostitution etc back to Akwa ibom. Not all but most .
Lol your feelings are inconsequential since you cant force anyone to leave. All you can do is whine on nairaland for catharsis. It's not Akwa Ibom responsibility to chase free people. The same way you left return back. Lol only the beachbum talks this foolishly.

Most Efiks feel that most akwa ibomites should go back to Akwa ibom. in fact that is one of the reason the state split .if you are old enough you'll know ibibio and annang were often harassed to go back to Uyo . Though we all united against the central and northern cross river back then but within there was never unity. these issues must be addressed and settled once and for all. the akwa ibom government should to towards moving their people back home .
If you want to join Akwa Ibom do so nobody is stopping you. Go bother you local representatives about the issue. It's not Akwa Iboms governments place to force the issue. If this was the point of the thread there's no need to whine your personal feelings.

You did not mention any part of the agreement that says that they can stop the water flow from the Nile. Remember that international water ways are bound by world Environmental impact analysis regulations.
I dont know the specific name of the agreement. The politicians dont mention it by name assuming everyone just knows what they're referring to. Ethopia did promise it wasnt going to block all the water but Egypt was still ready to go to war over the dam. I think one general was caught on a hot mic saying as much.

Some argue against nuclear due to safety concerns but hey we only got.to sit our asses up and stop being lazy. Nuclear energy is practicable in Nigeria. We only need highly trained personell to man the stations.
There's plans for alternative power sources but I think the water is important for agriculture.

PoliticsRe: What Happens when Niger Republic Finishes building Kandadji Dam on Niger river? by Blue3k(op):
Im guessing Niger Republic got wise and abondoned this arrangement. Why wait on nigeria when you can provide your own power and improve your irrigation. This could give them the opportunity to export power to Nigeria instead. The dam is scheduled to be completed 2025. I really believe Nigeria will simply fold its arms and do nothing unless they sincerely believe this is an existential threat like Egypt does.

Nigeria sells electricity to benin and Nigeria because they're upstream due to bilateral obligations. When Niger Republic finishes Kandadji Dam in 2025 what happens next? If the other countries decide to build more dams after them what then? Does anyone know why the government hasn't released a statement on these developments?

A 130-megawatt power station is due to be built in Kandadji, aiming to generate enough electricity annually to enable Niger to free itself from its energy dependence on neighbouring Nigeria.

Barely 15 percent of more than 20 million Nigeriens have electricity, according to the Nigelec electricity company.

"The essence of said bilateral agreements, by which we give them power and they do not build dams on the River Niger means that Nigeria and her brotherly neighbours had avoided the unfolding situation of the Nile River between the sovereign states of Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt."

"Power exported to Niger, Benin and Togo based on Multilateral Energy Sales Agreement with the Government of Nigeria is on the basis that they would not dam the waters that feed our major power plants in Kainji, Shiroro and Jebba."

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu
According to Mamman, the power sale from Nigeria to Niger Republic was based on bilateral agreement on basis of the construction of dams along River Niger.

He noted that some concessions were given to some countries along River Niger for Nigeria to supply them power, adding that these countries are not allowed to construct dams along the waterways to allow Nigeria's hydropower plants to continue to function optimally.

Coronabirus:
It's pity u dnt understand the reason behind this connection. Nigeria is using River Niger to generate power in kainji which has its source from other countries, they'll not construct dam for irrigation to avoid obstructing the generation and part of the then deal is to connect those countries with the power generated.
Please use current Egypt-Ethiopia tension which may escalate to war; Egypt is using Nile River for irrigation and has the largest irrigation system in the world, now Ethiopia is constructing dam which may hinder Egypt's irrigation system and they're already at cold war.
Many educated Nigerians have zero knowledge of governance and international relations that's why we always embarass ourselves in our comments including the well educated ones.
blacknp:
The Niger River is shared by nine countries in West and Central Africa, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Nigeria, Nigeria is obligated to provide those Countries that request electricity at international standard price, so that they don’t dam the River Niger again for electricity & irrigation, Egypt is presently having a problem with Ethiopia for it building a dam on the River Nile.
Providing power doesn't stop them from building dams upstream if they want to. Niger Republic is constructing Kandadji Dam. Do you guys know why Nigeria hasnt said anything about it?

Why not invest in transmission and distribution infrastructures. What's the issue with the policy makers in this clime.
I think the government is taking your advice. The deal with Siemens is supposed to improve the distribution network.

The deal agreed to last year requires Siemens to boost transmission capacity, to 25,000 megawatts by 2025, from 4,500 megawatts. That will help end incessant outages and ensure the inclusion of about a third of the population of more than 200 million people now excluded from the grid.

Siemens plans to implement the project in phases, starting with the initial phase of resolving current inefficiencies in distribution and transmission while upgrading capacity to 7,000 megawatts. The second phase will target 11,000 megawatts.

Despite the shortage of power supply in the country, the federal government is in negotiations with the Republic of Chad in an agreement that could see it begin the supply of electricity to the North-Central African country soon.

THISDAY learnt that a meeting was recently between the Nigerian team and the Chad Minister of Energy, Mrs Ramatou Houtouin, who flew into Abuja in furtherance of the expected deal, while the Nigerian team was led by top officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

A few months ago, the Chadian ambassador to Nigeria, Abakar Chachaimi, had asked for his country to be connected to Nigeria's electricity grid during a visit to the Minister of Power, Mr. Sale Mamman in Abuja.

Chachaimi argued that connecting Chad to Nigeria's electricity grid would further enhance the historical and economic collaborations between both countries. If the agreement is eventually reached, Chad will add to the number of countries that depend partly on Nigeria for their electricity needs.

Much of Nigeria's generated electricity remain unused because the country is not able to distribute it as a result of poor transmission and distribution network, which has prompted it to sell to neighbouring countries.

Other countries that get their supply from Nigeria include the Republic of Benin, which receives supplies of at least 80 per cent of the total quantum of electricity consumed in the country as well as Niger Republic and Togo.

A former Managing Director of TCN, Usman Mohammed, had said the international customers enjoy stable electricity because they have more reliable distribution network.

He said Nigeria supplies almost all the power consumed in Cotonou, adding that the challenges with power distribution in Nigeria had made it difficult for consumers to enjoy stability in the power supply.

The government had also threatened to disconnect Togo, Benin and Niger Republic following their failure to settle their electricity bills

Nigeria also spearheads the West African Power Pool (WAPP), which is a cooperation of the national electricity companies in Western Africa under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which says it's working to establish a reliable power grid for the region and a common market for electricity.

Member countries of WAPP, now headed by Mr Sule Abdulazeez, current Managing Director of the TCN are: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, The Gambia, Togo, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.

No government official was willing to comment on the details of the meeting, but it was learnt that other things being equal, the power agreement will be sealed before the end of the year.

Calls made to the Special Adviser, on Media to the Minister of Power, Mr Aaron Artimas, to extract his comments on the development were not picked up.

Construction work on the Kano/Maradi railway corridor will commence by February 2021, according to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Speaking at the weekend while inspecting the Lagos/Ibadan railway, Amaechi said he had ordered the contractors to begin acquisition of the right of way, payment of compensation and Right-of-Way clearing, as the government would wait till January ending for them to start work.

The contractors, he disclosed, have commenced the front-end engineering process to ascertain the technical requirements and main cost of the execution phase as well as evaluate the potential risk of the project, before January ending.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved about $1.96 billion for the rail line from Kano/Jigawa/Katsina/Jibia to Maradi in Niger Republic.

Why would the CBN not be allowed to purchase gold when it's part of it reserves? That doesn't make sense to me. How did it increase it's reserves before.

Politics‘CBN Did Not Enter Into Any Trade Agreement With Zamfara’ by Blue3k(op): 5:05pm On Oct 18, 2020
The Zamfara State government has denied claims of trading in gold with the Central Bank of Nigeria, as well as owning the resources deposit in the state.

Zailani Baffa, the spokesperson to the state governor, Bello Matawalle, gave the disclaimer in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday.

The state government explained that it does not directly mine the gold for itself, but purchases the gold from the federal government registered mining companies in the state.

“The attention of Zamfara State Government has been drawn to a shocking and disappointing reaction in the media where a known Lawyer displayed ignorance of law regarding the recent revelation made by His Excellency, Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) over mining in the state.

“The state government is not directly mining the gold for itself. It will rather purchase the gold from the Federal Government registered mining companies in the state. Surely, all Nigerians are aware that the Federal Government is in the process of re-registering qualified companies allowed to mine mineral resources in the state on its behalf, just as it is obtained in the oil sector

The state government gave the announcement in reaction to a statement attributed to a human rights lawyer Joseph Silas seeking the cancellation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) purchase of gold worth 5 billion Naira from Zamfara State government.

Mr Salis described such purchase as “the highest insult on the sensitivities of Nigerians,” TheNigeriaLawyer newspaper reported on Friday.

He said, “The Zamfara state government has no gold to sell, the gold is for the federal government, and CBN is not permitted by its enabling Act to engage in the business of buying solely commercial goods.”

Citing section 1(4) of the CBN Act, 2007, the lawyer said the law permits the bank to acquire, hold and dispose of movable and immovable property does not extend to engaging in a business venture such as the purchase of gold.

But in its release, Mr Baffa explained that “The fact is that the CBN, just like in Agriculture, is willing to invest in mining as part of an anchor-borrowers scheme where the apex Bank will invest the said amount for the state Government to supply it with the gold as a proceed of the investment. This is aimed at boosting the mining sector in the country, which is within the provisions of the scheme

“To further enlighten the Lawyer and those who think alike, the Central Bank of Nigeria did not enter into any trade agreement with Zamfara state Government as claimed by the Lawyer.

“It is, therefore, disheartening that educated Nigerians will react to issues of national importance in the media, dictated from the sentiments of their hearts rather than the facts digested from their brains.

“Zamfara State Government, therefore, wishes to assure all Nigerians that it will abide by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and use same as a guide to the management of mineral deposits in the state.”

The Zamfara State government had established the first of its kind gold reserve in Nigeria, starting with 31 kg of processed gold, a step considered towards actualising Nigeria economic diversification from on crude oil for foreign exchange earnings and government revenues.

Mr Matawalle recently took some of the gold bars to President Muhammadu Buhari, where the president said it was the first time anyone physically showed him the Zamfara gold.

PoliticsU.S. Bars Nigerians From 2022 Visa Lottery by Blue3k(op): 2:24am On Oct 17, 2020
Nigerians have been barred from participating in the United States' visa lottery in 2022.

This was contained in a document obtained from the US' website yesterday.

The 19-page document is titled 'Instructions for the 2022 diversity immigrant visa programme (dv-2022)'.

"In Africa, natives of Nigeria are not eligible for this year's Diversity Visa programme," the document stated.

However, natives from other African countries are eligible to apply, but "persons born in the areas administered prior to June 1967 by Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt are chargeable, respectively, to Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Egypt. Persons born in the Gaza Strip are chargeable to Egypt; persons born in the West Bank are chargeable to Jordan; persons born in the Golan Heights are chargeable to Syria."

It stated that Nigeria was barred because more than 50,000 of its citizens immigrated to the United States in the previous five years.

Part of the document read, "Applicants who are selected in the program (selectees) must meet simple but strict eligibility requirements to qualify for a diversity visa. The Department of State determines selectees through a randomized computer drawing. The Department of State distributes diversity visas among six geographic regions, and no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.

"For DV-2022, persons born in the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan,

Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.

"Persons born in Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible."
