OAUTemitayo:Lol you drama queens and your histrionics. What calamity has occured over this? If this is really a political crisis we would see the national assembly anending the constitution to avoid this situation. None of you guys can point to any laws being broken so you resort to these emotional appeals. What's unfair and what's unacceptable about the state assembly refusing their pick? Is the NJC their boss? OAUTemitayo:Cite the law that states the state assembly has to accept their pick. Stop telling lies layman you dont know the law. The NJC cant force them to do anything. If they could they would have already. The elected representatives if Cross River said no now what they going do about? Even by your own logic the NJC are idiots. They're prolonging the "crisis" because they think it's harsh to enforce the law. Lol what a bunch of clowns grow some balls.

MelesZenawi:I never understood why someone wants to go where they're obviously not wanted. Even if the seat stayed empty what happens? I assume the lower court ruling would stand or they'll just appeal to a federal court. I dont see what's stopping any party from engaging in this eternal deadlock. Buhari has refused to appoint supreme court justices leaving the country with an even 16. |
thundafire:Ok so what if they base their appointment on seniority. The state assembly is under no legal obligation to accept their appointment for any reason the deem fit. NJC can compromise by picking the next man up or cross their arms and stalemate. If they dont care to compromise they play this game till Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme dies or retires from the proffession. Is Cross River going to sink into the ocean if they ignore them? You're arguement about them appointing a rascal is possible but ridiculous. In the USA the President can appoint literally anyone off the street but they dont because it would be stupid. You pick someone who who has long history of rulings and the senate interviews them before confirmation. Rascals are wild cards nobody likes. |
“It will be inconsistent and in fact, it would look funny for them to make a second recommendation since the Governor has refused to appoint the person they recommended. He can go ahead and appoint all the Judges in the state in an acting capacity” he said.Lol the NJC are so full of themselves. If you dont want to concede to the demands of the state assembly just say that. They're not under any legal obligation to accept your appointments. One of you will get tired and move on. If not the state can have acting judges till the end of time. |
This is squandered potential if this in not being done on toll roads already. The state can easily put the cameras up and collect cash. It would be no different from NTAA in Texas or Sunpass in Florida. That will eliminate corruption and make traffic very smooth. Hopefully they give them bid when ever toll roads are being built. |
Lol this good for propaganda but very useless for them. They not going to use it for battle and will just end up destroying it. It's one less apc for Nigeria. |
The Lagos State Government has launched PayVIS, a number plate detection platform that captures vehicle offenders when they violate traffic laws and then bills them.Source: https://nairametrics.com/2021/01/17/payvis-new-lagos-state-platform-to-uses-traffic-cameras-to-fine-traffic-offenders/ Front page: Lalasticlala mynd44

gratiaeo:Facts 70% of prisoners havent been found guilty after sitting in jail years after being arrested. The judicial system seems to enjoy giving obvious flight risks like Maina bail. It just shows what joke the judiciary has made themselves. |
I dont mind them building new prisons but lets not ignore the fact 70% of the inmates in prison are awaiting trial not convicts. The government should opt to release them on bail, give them time served or give fines when possible. If they carried out their jobs efficiency the issue wouldn't exist to begin with. The government is doing a little bit to reduce the prison population. Only inmates that are 60 years old and above, those suffering from ill-health that are likely to terminate in death, convicts serving three years and above and have less than six months to serve, inmates with mental health issues, and inmates with options of fines not exceeding N50,000 and have no pending case are eligible for the pardon.

berryPee:Boko haram is under your bed mumu. They're everywhere as you claim yet they doing nothing unlike before. The fact is they're weaker than before and no threat to the south. If they could project power that far they would. |
richiemcgold:Can you elaborate on your personal experience with boko haram? |
The distance between Borno State and Lagos State is about 1,700km, but mind you if Borno State is not peaceful, other parts of the nation will never be peaceful. We have to unite and fight these insurgents. If Borno doesn't have peace the rest of the country wont? Boko hmHaram the height of their power they could only hit Abuja. The south is perfectly fine since Boko haram is a localised cancer at this point. |
Lol only an IPOB would be gullible enough to take those lies seriously. What happened that you feel the need to expose Kanu. Did he not pay your Christmas bonus? |
“For the man who imports through Lagos or Port Harcourt, if he puts it on a train, he arrives the same day, and there is no issue of insecurity unlike the man who has taken the cargo from Port Harcourt seaport to Baro by barge. Is most of the danger in the Niger Delta or all over. I'd like to know his candid thoughts on dry ports. They government failed to connect rail to them like they did their ports. It seems Nigeria just expertly does haphazard projects. |
The reason is that for you to have those river ports functional, you must have to dredge River Niger. For now, even if you dredge, it is still 2.5 to 3 metre draft, if he puts it on a train, he arrives the same day, and there is no issue of insecurity unlike the man who has taken the cargo from Port Harcourt seaport to Baro by barge. Racoon:Amaechi already explained why trains in general are more feasible than river ports. You're free to debunk his arguments. Kano-Maradi is better because their exports will go to lagos port. Benin Republic has been trying to build rail links with then for 2 decades to gain more port traffic. aribisala0:Nigeria doesn't care that Niger Republic is building a dam currently. It appears they're tired of depending on Nigerian electricity exports. The 1st phase is supposed to be done 2024.

As Minister, I did engage the public that these are the problems we will face when we finish this Baro port. First Nigeria does not produce anything in the first place so what are you going to transport? If we make the Apapa seaport very efficient, then we don’t even have enough cargo.”Does anyone remember him giving these warning at NASS? |
“I had this conversation with my friend, Senator Goje about the viability of the river ports that we have including Onitsha, Baro, Lokoja and Oguta river ports and I felt that it was a waste of funds.Lol, why did the government bother with these projects if there's little interest in dredging the river? It took ages but you finally did. Make sure the rest of the trains get it. Book at ticket with the li k below. https:///bcuXRCbmjL?amp=1 |
owobokiri:If you think so why dont you sue them? As I told the other guy maybe the supreme court will agree with your arguement. You weirdos like whining on the internet. |
privaldo:I dont think that's a firm legal argument since banning intoxicants isnt religious. This could easily be argued to be a health regulation. You're free to challenge them in court over it, Maybe the supreme court would agree with you. The athiest are doing so regarding blasphemy laws. |
Lol this journalist sucks at his job. Dude just cite the legal text. I dont care to know everyones opinions on the matter. |
The only issue is whether Niger Republic is paying for the rail. The government seems to be lying about building into the country. The government lying is is nothing new. Updates: • The rail line which is expected to connect Nigerian 3 states and terminate in Maradi, Niger Republic, will financially empower Nigeria as the import/export hub for Niger. • The FOI response also stated that FMoT, the federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and Mota-Engil Africa are negotiating the Contract Agreements and financing at the moment. On budgetary allocation for the rail project, the Ministry claimed in its response that the project is to be 100% funded by Messrs Mota-Engil Africa under an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Financing (EPC+ F) model through combination of lenders from Export Credit Agencies (ECA) and commercial facilities backed by a sovereign guarantee. • They confirmed that the track length of the rail is 378km starting from Kano – Danbatta – Kazana – Daura – Meshi – Kastina – Jibiya – Maradi (Niger Republic) with branch line to Dutse in Jigawa State. It also confirmed that only 20km of the track length is within Niger Republic while 358km is within Nigeria.

Coldie:What else should Nigeria do? |
Redcrafton:Unlikely since take years just to finish sections. |
Redcrafton:Yeah I agree eastern leaders are trash. Trains break down but standard guage lines are better than narrow guage. Are you going to claim they wont finish those projects like they're doing with 2nd Niger bridge? |
Redcrafton:Are you aware Buhari approved reconstruction of narrow gauge lines you rightfully want working? The rails broke down due to lack of maintenance. What you should be asking for ontop of rehabilitation of narrow gauge line is standard north south raillines for Akwa Ibom for the new seaport.
|
Redcrafton:You mean the Itakpe-Warri line right? You're cool with Niger line later? |
Redcrafton: Simplyleo:Lol
|
Monday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mota-Engil Group for the construction of US$1.959 billion Kano-Maradi Standard gauge railway line. They already won the contract bid what's the need for the MOU? |
kalu61:Incorrect the VP can only be removed via Impeachment. It's an elected position not appointed. |
Muhammad said , “ Let every state pay according to what it has. But labour always looks at it from the point of ‘you want to weaken the organised Labour so that the government will always have a say’. Every labour union in the states should negotiate with the respective state governments . ”This actually pretty clever of him. He'll weaken labor unions by simply devolving state power. The labor unions did threaten strikes and forced the federal government to pay 30k before the election. Now that will be much harder if they have to fight every different states at different times with different budgets. If they're smart they'll ram this through. It's a pretty self serving piece of legislation. It would probably effect public support for these raises since benefits are limited to particular groups but spread to everyone. |
