I hope you know what you are saying? Ghana fell to a point where they have to rebase removing three zeros from their currency, meaning if you were holding 10,000 before, you now have 10. Since then, the currency has gone further one zero down
Na usdt make Ghana currency fall??
A country without light, unemployment zero, no good roads, insecurity everywhere, export capacity is zero, how on earth will such currency withstand dollar without support. Go read 50 cent recent comment on Nigeria. The govt will stop this floating after sometime and start paying again, my only worry is hope they don't do it late. Because they will be starting from the current exchange value to start defending it. Same way they are now paying subsidy at 700 naira, something they removed at 195 naira.

Tinubu needs to sustain the Naira float, it will settle where it settles. He should remove subsidy. All these people panicking because there is difficulty only show why successive governments have led to this point. They don’t have the balls to do the right thing. What kind of person is advocating g a return of subsidies either Forex or petrol?

You cannot change your life without pain. If it costs him his second term so be it but he needs to sustain the reforms.
Your analogy doesn't apply to Nigeria situation. It is impossible for our weightless & unhealthy naira to withstand the dollar without support! The economy is zero, the nation has lots of debts & all these years of corruption and funds mismanagement effects are gradually coming up. It is either the govt stop the floating by paying to defend the naira or it's going to be very disastrous, because the depreciation is not going to stop!

Mind u, if the govt wants to start defending the naira, he is going to start from the current exchange value, same way they have started paying fuel subsidy at 700 naira, something they removed at 195 naira. The earlier he starts paying to defend the naira, the better! All these chasing of bdc are never going to solve anything.

The idea of floating the Naira is wrong. Gov should determine the value of the Naira to dollar based on their strategic national interests. Floating the Naira makes it permanently unstable.
Governors should determine the value of a nation currency?? What did I just read?

Now you guys be complaining How previous govt was defending the naira to keep the economy afloat as if it was a bad idea, now you floated the weightless naira and your economy just crashed!! Which is better a collapsed economy or defending the naira and mind you those idiots are paying more for subsidy now.
I am on the same page with u, I only phrased my statement that way to explain to the guy calling for fixed exchange rate. Yes, they are paying subsidy for fuel after they saw removal was not sustainable. Try & error govt. People would have be revolting by now, because fuel for still dey fly like dollar, probably 1700 per litre. I don't know how someone will remove subsidy from inauguration ground without even getting to office. I wonder if he has advisers at all

Celplas1010:
Is their no way we can drag Tinubu, CBN and Finance minister on Twitter concerning having a fixed rate of dollar to naira?
I think u should ask why tinubu floated the naira in the first place. Having a dollar at a compelled fixed rate means subsidizing dollar.
Buhari was paying to keep dollar below 700. What is happening to naira is more than mere speculation. Our export capacity is zero coupled with corruption. All the money that are being borrowed are not utilized. But shared among politicians. These are the end results. Now that the nation is broke, subsidy is no longer sustainable on many things according to govt oh. Currently only fuel is being subsidize to avoid people revolting.

You can't remove subsidy from everything and not expect hardship. If it were other candidates, we would experience same hardship. Unless, subsidy is re-introduce in the system. Nigeria is not ready for this reformation.
Exactly!
I think if the president care little about his image at all, they should reverse fuel to below N200. I think that to a large extent will put a halt to this uncontrollable inflation. It was a serious miscalculation announcing from inauguration ground subsidy is gone, without even getting to office to study things.

When Buhari took over, he was constantly inviting Goodluck to villa probably to study things. Tinubu misfired seriously.

Even though their comments were rude, they are partially correct! There was absolutely nothing special about your wife doing in your post. Every family is managing in this economy, so no family is spending extravagantly in this period, except the wealthy. It would have been quite different, if u stated your wife was the one providing for the family, then it becomes worthy of praise. Your case is just the typical life of an average married man anywhere in the country.

oyeb15:
IMF should mind their business. Government should bring back fuel price to #145 so that we can have a stable economy. If money that's used to defend naira is used for subsidy payment, over economy will boom internally and dollars will fall.

Jonathan paid 1trillon on subsidy when national budget was 2.5 trillion. Our economy became d best in Africa and dollar fell to #140.

Check d fraud in subsidy.we don't consume up to half of what NNPCL projects.
The suffering is unbearable and d only solution is to reduce fuel price to where Tinubu met it.
You have said it all
The govt needs to find a way around reducing pump price, that is the only way to tame this unending inflation to a certain level. Everything depends on transportation to move, if fuel sells at a lower rate, it will go a long way in fighting inflation. There wouldn't have been need removing subsidy, it was a very wrong decision. Nigeria economy was never ripe for such decision.

you're really stupid you've run to europe now to bring prices when you see you've lost the argument.

no where was this thread about canada or europe it's about nigeria but since you want to bring in canada at least compare nigeria plans with canada plans. the 1gb is allocated data , it's actually unlimited just that its at lower speeds.

this your shit of saying 1gb for $19 is false. it's actually unlimited. plus he gets unlimited calls and sms. in nigeria you can never get such.

you're here screaming shit. you have no common sense. dullard!
Who said 1gb for $19 is false??
Go get your brain checked bro, your mental state is messed up already!
Your colour of maddness is critical!
The thread was never anything about Canada or Nigeria, but about data! Your f00lish sef quoted me & started comparing Nigeria to Canada? Who does that? Even an infant knows Canada is better than Nigeria, but your insistence on parading a $19 for a 1gb data as cheap bespeaks u have serious mental issues! Do they pluck money from trees in Canada? Because it is Canada we shouldn't say the truth? Even when there are better working conditions in places data are sold for €15 with your Almighty unlimited calls & texts grin Animal!

See what someone is paying for unlimited data, calls & texts €15! But the moment u hear Canada, your brain stops working & u think paying $19 for only 1gb data is not expensive? You have mental issues!

i can see you're still being guillible and dumb. he gets unlimited calls, sms and allocated unlimited data for cheap and tells you you're betteroff in nigeria and you believe, that means you're a complete slowpoke.

the 1gb is just allocated data. when the 1gb data expire, he will still access the web but on low speeds. in nigeria you get disconnected immediately with no mercy. you will pay for your calls and sms in nigeria at high rate.

and i like how you didnt care to ask about other plans you just push it to the side. you've have successfully being brainwashed.
You must be sick in your head!
You know me before?? Regardless of whatever u might have said, paying $19 for 1gb data is expensive!! Get that into your f00lish head! Who are u going to be calling & texting with unlimited texts?? Don't u have sth better to do with your life? I am talking about data & u are screaming unlimited call & text? U must be very madd! Moreover no one is doing comparison between Nigeria & Canada? this is how people like you are easily deceived and believe bullshit. and also check how much he earns over there. $16.65 per hour on minimum wage. if hes tired he should give me his visa. mtcheew
Getting 1gb data for $19 is expensive!
We are not talking about other plans, but 1gb!
What will anyone be doing with unlimited calls & texts?? Only unlimited data is useful, unlimited calls & test is almost useless in this present world!

Is data this expensive in Canada?

I'm sure he must have realized it was a hasty decision, but can't turn back now so he doesn't look confused in the face of the masses. The fuel subsidy removal is the primary cause of all the inflation & hardship we are facing. Everything depends on transportation to move. It was a very wrong move.

It would work. China would not allow dollars pass through their airports.

Same goes for Russia and others bcoz they have a responsibility to protect their currency.

Why are you idiots against protection of our currency?
I hope your govt will also build industries, improve power supply & security like those countries u mentioned? Getting a stable economy has little to do with forceful conversion of people's reserve. But more to do with production & export. These countries u mentioned are doing well in those areas, reason their economy is stable. A country that can't boast of one functional refinery or 24 hours power supply is very far from economy stability. Not to talk of the high rate of corruption & insecurity.

The fuel subsidy removal caused this whole thing. If only he was patient enough to leave subsidy, things wouldn't have gone this bad, because transportation is key in determining the price of goods. It was a wrong move removing subsidy.
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Decry Rising Cost Of Living by Bluearrow: 9:51am On Feb 03, 2024
Fuel subsidy removal was a very wrong decision this govt made. It gave room for uncontrollable price of goods, since transport controls the movement of these goods. It was a very big mistake removing subsidy.
