I saw this news about a political group calling on Tinubu and the AGF to stop LG chairmen from contesting for 3rd term.
I know it’s a matter of law and it is not something Tinubu and the AGF can stop or allow to continue , but it got me thinking .
It got me thinking that since the 3 levels of government are the federal , state and LGA ; why is it that the law limits the president and governors to two terms while the LGA chairmen are allowed to rule as long as they can continue to win the sham of LGA elections ?
Why can’t we have laws in place limiting LGA chairmen time in office to two terms like it’s done at the federal and state government ?

You think if he was a chronic clout chaser, he’ll have that following that believes once he steps in, he’ll be the ladder through which justice can be served by him calling out the necessary people involved?
I no really send am cause of how he pry in some personal matter but truth be told, that guy is trying He is actually a chronic clout chaser. Nigerians generally like the thought of having a Messiah-like figure whom they can lay at his feet all their supplications. There’s a law saying that says he who comes to equity must come with clean hands . The person u think is fighting for justice literally defames others with reckless abandon. He says a whole lot of things he has no proof of and thinks the world works like that . He may have helped some people to recover funds here and there , but that doesn’t make him Gani Fawehinmi of this generation all of a sudden . |

unfortunately we are in a post truth age, where people like share and swallow and do not ask questions, now or later. as a parent you have a duty to teach your kids critical thinking and not to lionize anyone and to be very wary of 'news' from Instagram, twitter etal, especially once the algo has hooked you
the bigger question for me - is if those free VDM demonstrations were real - who is actually funding them? and what is the end game? these days i am suspicious of 'internet personalities' This is very important |

Personally I think he has a hero complex which makes him always want to “chook mouth” in almost everything ; both the things he’s knowledgeable about and the ones he’s not. He has a whole lot of characteristics that makes it unsuitable for him to be referred to as a freedom fighter . Nehruvia: Creative courses will demand you to be imaginative, expressive and original. Applied fields will demand you to implement practical problem-solving. Subjects from the humanities place emphasis on interpretive and analytical thinking, rather than rote memorization or regurgitation. Different types of intelligence and/or skills are required, depending on which field you wish to delve into, so your suggestion that one field is inherently superior is fundamentally spurious and factually inaccurate.
And FYI, students flocking to a course or programme is not indicative of the course being easy. It's a common habit among the younguns to look at STEM subjects on surface level and assume that they are mentally tasking, which explains why they quickly flock to social sciences, that is until they actually dive deep into courses in social sciences and discover exactly how much critical thinking, research and ingenuity is actually required. It's like that cute hot teacher in your school who you think doesn't know how to whoop ass, until you become a defaulter on the receiving end. Thank you telling him. |

Ibeme: I like am like that. Before I employ you with art degree I need to see a prestigious uni on your CV so I can differentiate between those who studied arts by choice and those who studied arts because of laziness or lack of aptitude
There was one guy I did both primary and secondary school with. I have known him all my life and he never crossed class C or D to enter class B talkless of A, from primary to secondary. Today he is a high flying lawyer having knuckled down in his SS3 and University years. Another of my nigga who was near the bottom of the class (placed between 20th and 30th but never demoted to class B) is now an Anaesthesiologist in USA collecting good pepper. That shows that belief, determination and ambition are the most vital ingredients even in a "dull" student. There is no excuse for anyone with aptitude to be studying Masscomm except in abroad setting in a prestigious uni, then we will know it's by choice.
Do you know that even in England, the worst, most dull and most unambitious students in my time would scrape together one E at A Levels and go to Uni to study "Media studies" which is our version of MassCom here. We just saw them as time wasters who just want to enjoy student loan for 3 more years before facing the real world. I agree with u that with determination and hard work, even a below average student can move up to become an above average student over time. There was this guy we met in class in JSS2 because he repeated JSS2 while his mates were promoted to JSS3 . For U to repeat at the level u are considered a very poor student. Due to football matters, we became friends; he would play on my team most times during lunch break. We both passed to JSS3, albeit his result wasn't as good as that of my other friends. When we did our JSCE (Junior Waec) and this guy saw my result, he just told me he will go to whatever department I chose and that was exactly what he did. We were in the same class till SS3. Somehow I had a very huge impact on his life and didn't even know. The guy just imitated me by putting efforts to read as much as he played and discovered he wasn't as dull as he had thought. He just wanted his results to be half as good as mine usually was. Last I heard from him, he was a full time lecturer in a polytechnic and an adjunct lecturer in another polytechnic. Even me I shock say the guy can ever learn to the extent of imparting knowledge in others. |

Ibime: All those Peller, content creators and OAPs, how many of them get MassCom?
There are 720 radio stations in Nigeria who employ mostly people who didn't study MassCom, but there are half a million Directors that need PAs. I know you don't need Secretarial degree to do Secretary work but last last there are still more jobs for them. Even at that, you can't be a PA to a high flying Corporate Director without a degree. PAs for corporates these days are expected to have strategic knowledge to step in and communicate on behalf of their boss to the point that even lawyers are serving as PAs in some of the most blue chip companies today.
Nobody was doing MassCom like that 20 years ago, na useless indomie generation start this MassCom trend
How I knew MassCom was a useless course was even 10 years ago. My first cousin born to my uncle wey no hold was adopted by one of my aunty wey get pepper. She trained this girl in one private school in AkwaIbom paying N300k per term which was $2k dollars then. I heard the girl was doing well such that when I visited PH in 2014, I insisted I take a road trip to Uyo to visit her in her boarding house. The next year which was her SS3 year na him matter cast, I heard she's started playing and becoming unserious. My Aunty who is a PHD holder, alumni and board member at Abu Zaria had set it up for her to go study law at Zaria. She said no, that she wants to do Masscomm at Uniport. She finally flopped her final exams scoring 180 and my aunty disowned her. That's when she said she wants to use that 180 to go to Polytechnic, I said last last you must sit at home for one year and write JAMB again. She finally passed the JAMB to get to Uniport but to study journalism which is not far from Masscomm. At this point I've almost washed my hands off her but still giving her small benefit of the doubt. Her first year of uni, she called me one day. Before even greeting and talking as adults, she started fake crying "Uncle, I need money". That's when I shouted at her that is that how you talk to adults with childish voice? From then I washed hands off her, she can't squeeze N1k out of my hand today. She is the one that educated me on the unambitious nature and general uselessness of MASSCOMM people. The problem is u are an old man who was trained to believe STEM courses or the age long trio of Accountancy, Economics and Law are the only way to show one is serious with his or her life. The fact the people whom u know that studied MASSCOM did so out of fear for those aforementioned STEM courses, Law and the likes has made u greatly prejudiced. You need to be really really open minded in this age ; time has changed! Serous students dey study MASSCOM and dem dey do well for themselves. The world did not start and end with those relatives of urs who didn't cover themselves in glory after studying MASSCOM. People dey wey study Accountancy wey no gree write ICAN or ACCA but joyfully writing CIPM( HR professional exam) because dem no fit kill themselves |

Ibime: You no get point, last last there are half a million secretaries/PAs in Naija, whether overqualified or not. The job to student ratio is much healthier than MassCom.
How many jobs dey MassCom for Naija vs how many students?
Some years ago, I spoke to a young man who was having issues getting to uni for many years. He said I should help him to write JAMB. By this time he was already mid twenties, had been at Uni studying accounting but found out his matriculation (which he worked) was fake in the final year and the uni didn't recognise him as a student. So he's spent many years in the wilderness at this stage after that crushing disappointment. He was in such a dark place, I asked him what he wants to do in Uni, he said "las las, lemme just go and get a MassCom degree". He was a very intelligent lad but in a sunken place and saw MassCom as the easy path to say he's doing something. I said no, let's do Accounting Chartership and close off your earlier disappointment in the proper way that is more befitting of your brains. Today he is a chartered accountant earning close to 7 figures, when he could have been the average MassCom failure if I listened to him and allowed him to settle for the path of least resistance. See u are an old man who is speaking off Ur knowledge of things over 20 years ago. If not u will not be talking about secretariat job that has almost been pahsed off the Nigerian work space. PA/EA which replaced secretary jobs doesn't even require you to have a degree in secretariat studies for u to excel at it. Anybody going to study such course in this age and time is just wasting his or her time cos he or she will still need to look for daily bread in another field. There are 720 functional radio stations in nigeria, I don't know the exact number of TV stations in Nigeria but I know it should be in hundreds. There are different career paths in that MASSCOM u despise so much; career paths like Journalist,Reporter,Public,Relations,Specialist,Advertising,Copywriter,MarketingCommunication,Specialist,Broadcast Producer,Videographer, etc Na u just know the bad dream u Don get about the course. |
