I’m not in any way making Jonathan a saint because I lived through his administration and I know how people yarned to have him replaced , but we must state the fact that Buhari who replaced him was equally a failure and not some “okay “ president . Buhari’s administration was terrible !

This part of your post actually summarises how weak President Jonathan was. In my entire life, I’ve never seen a sitting president or governor succumb to pressures from their supposed subordinates to do anything, except for Jonathan. I guess this is because he wasn’t a politician at his core. It's also the main reason he failed to secure a second term in office, in addition to being a weak leader.

By the way, I’m not arguing for or against the idea that he may or may not have used the ECA money as bribes. However, the timing of the depletion of those funds and the word on the street suggest that the money was used for the purposes Ibime is alleging.

That said, I completely agree with you that Bubu was a disaster!

Baba , Obj was a bully of a president and till date people still knock him for some of his head strong decisions he took as president . One of those decisions was him withholding the LG funds of Lagos state despite the courts stopping him from doing same .

There’s a thin line between being strong president and actually being a dictator in a democratic setting .

What u call weak in Jonathan’s presidency was him trying to be on the right side of the law being a president from a minority tribe . Jonathan is from a minority tribe who needed to keep all the major tribes happy in a multi ethnic country like Nigeria .

Jonathan met that account at $50 billion and ran it to $4bln immediately by sharing it to the Governors so they can support his elevation to Presidency. That is the original sin and the death of the concept of ECA. Buharis Government never earned above the benchmark price of $70 till the end of its tenure by which time ECA had been killed.

Nigerians have problems with numbers generally and the lack of anger over the treatment of the ECA under Goodluck Jonathan is a perfect example. It's the same reason we could no longer afford the fuel subsidy because Jonathan had used the ECA to bribe his way into power. So we entered larger and larger debts to pay for subsidy that we comfortably paid from the ECA before.

The way u despise Jonathan ehn, one would think Jonathan was a failure and Buhari was the Messiah . Sometimes u make it seem like Jonathan failed on all fronts but Buhari was an “okay “ president .

Below was what Jonathan answered when he was asked about the ECA depletion under his tenure.

Answering questions on an interview programme with Bloomberg TV, Mr. Jonathan blamed the state governors for regularly pressurizing the federal government to draw from the reserve fund to augment revenue allocations from the federation account.

“At any time the earnings (from oil) drop, the governors would insist that there is no place in our laws that actually say that the federal government should keep the reserve,” Mr. Jonathan said. “They always insisted that a part of it (excess crude revenue account) should be brought.”

He said there had always been misconception about the excess crude account, pointing out that while a number of people felt it was a reserve fund for the rainy day, others said it was fund that could be drawn from in times of economic difficulty.

“Yes, it is also part of our own reserves. But, when I was there, I tried to make a special fund called a sovereign wealth fund, so that it would not be easy for one to take from there,” the former president said.

Asked to react to claims by the current administration that it inherited empty treasury at inception of its tenure, Mr. Jonathan said that could not be true, arguing that there was no way the administration would have inherited empty treasury and still be able to give bailout to states the way it did.

If the governors are asking him to draw from the funds to meet government’s financial obligations and indeed there is no place in Nigerian laws for the FG to keep the reserve , why then make it seem like he drew from the reserve to “bribe “ fellow politicians when he was using it to sort bills like the subsidy ?

Let’s not forget that Buhari and his co-travelers were part of those who protested against subsidy removal which would’ve freed more funds in the excess crude account o.

My point is Jonathan was a failure and Buhari was no better at all. I no just Dey like make person rightfully call Jonathan a failure and then start using halogen lamp to look for the tiniest of reasons not to label Buhari a certified failure .

In the past you select the LGA you prefer within your state and they post you there . This year I’ve been seeing parents complaining that their wards were posted to far away states like NYSC posting and some had accident on the way while others couldn’t meet up with the time due to logistics issues .

Maybe the exam should last like 2 weeks or more so as to have everybody write exams at a center close to their LGA of residence instead of bounding the students to the philistines .

No disrespect to what the young man has achieved; however, getting 4 promotions in 4 years at any Nigerian bank goes beyond individual performance and leans more toward connections. He might be good at his job, but there’s no doubt he didn’t get those promotions without his father's direct or indirect influence. Plus, the fact that he exceeded sales and profit targets in less than a year screams government deposits and transactions.

Conclusion: na him papa make am possible

A marketer that always overachieve his or her target can get promoted 4 times in 4 years .

I’ve met few bankers who get steady promotion for overachieving their targets year-in year-out.

I can’t speak for the boy whether his father has influenced his career progression or not, but I’ve seen people without any political father figure moving upwards at the same pace he’s doing .

Hertfordshire Uni is one of the worst in UK, you can get there with 2 Es at A Level, a lot of my street niggas went there after flopping at A Levels. Aston Uni is also poor but at Masters Level, it's more about what you're willing to pay than the strength of the Uni so Masters are generally accepted regardless of Uni.

He can hardly get into PWC in UK from those unis and note he doesn't list his grade in those degrees, nor the A Level grades that would have got him there. If someone makes a 1st or 2.1, they usually declare their grade

In addition he has a BSc and MSc in Accounting but no Chartership, he is a baby accountant with barely entry level knowledge. The work history are Nepo achievements. He barely did 10 months at PWC which is not good for your grounding, typically one would expect a minimum of 2 years at PWC to get a full grounding. This CV is just a Nepo CV. he just took the next opportunity that his pops connections could get for him at any time before he was ripe

Nigerian companies will employ u even if na the worst UK university u graduate from, so he doesn't actually need his father's name to get a job in any top Nigerian company. His stint at PWC is more of an internship, he probably chose to portray it like it was a regular employment just to lure his prospective employers.

What I am more concerned with is the fact that he actually performed well on the Job at Providus bank that Parallex employ him and made him head to lead a team which he has also been doing.

I may not be a fan of his papa but I don't think Nepo got the boy where he currently is; the boy sef dey try for himself
