She renovated the house she rented from the shittty condition she met it only for the landlord/caretaker to evict after giving the apartment a complete facelift .

She gave them aura for aura by destroying most of the improvements she did to the apartment making sure the landlord does not profit from her loss by renting the place out to someone else at a ridiculously higher price courtesy of her improvements

He said he would buy 1 derica of rice for N80, 1 derica of beans for N120, crayfish N20, groundnut oil small measure N100, etc. He said he his wife will cook meal that will serve him and his family for N500.

Earlier, sources at the NNPCL told Saturday PUNCH that one of the sacked MDs had been with the EFCC for about a week.

“Large amounts have been discovered in his accounts. About N80bn has so far been discovered in his various accounts. The way things are going, it may be bigger than Emefielegate,” the official, who spoke in confidence due to the nature of the probe, stated.

Another official stated, “All the three of them are being investigated by the EFCC. It is indeed sad!”

Kyari under probe

A document obtained by our correspondent on Friday from NNPCL, dated April 28, 2025, and titled, ‘Investigation Activities: Request for Information’, indicated that the probe by EFCC included the immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer of the national oil firm, Mele Kyari.

The EFCC document was addressed to the Group Managing Director (Group Chief Executive Officer) of the national oil company and contained the names of 13 other former senior executives of the NNPCL.

“The commission is investigating a case of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds in which the underlisted officials of your organisation featured,” the document stated.

It outlined the officials to include Abubakar Yar’Adua, Mele Kyari, Isiaka Abdulrazak, Umar Ajiya, Dikko Ahmed, Ibrahim Onoja, Ademoye Jelili, and Mustapha Sugungun.

Others are Kayode Adetokunbo, Efiok Akpan, Babatunde Bakare, Jimoh Olasunkanmi, Bello Kankaya and Desmond Inyama.

“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to furnish certified true copies of their emoluments and allowances, including that of those who have retired and no longer work with your organisation,” the anti-graft commission told the NNPCL boss.

Although this is not the first time the company has feigned the effectiveness of its operations, citizens have noted that the lack of transparency not only deepens public distrust but also fuels speculation about the company’s true intentions and the actual state of Nigeria’s oil infrastructure.

On Tuesday, The PUNCH exclusively reported that the NNPCL came under fire as the $897m Warri refinery revamp flopped.

The report also stated that the $1.5bn newly repaired Port Harcourt refinery had been struggling at under 37.87 per cent production capacity.

This was after the revelation that the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company had remained shut since January 25, 2025, due to safety issues in its Crude Distillation Unit Main Heater.

An April 2025 document on the Midstream and Downstream sector obtained from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority revealed that the refinery, which consumed $897.6m in maintenance costs, failed to produce Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and was shut down barely a month after former NNPCL boss, Kyari, declared it operational.
https://www.nairaland.com/8415364/3-billion-refinery-fraud-80

The refinery fraud is most likely bigger than Emefiele gate. How the master strategist allowed Mele Kyari to use almost 2 years after Emefiele was sacked is still a mystery

This looks bad.

So this is a case of schools trying to make cheese for themselves out of the NELFUND largese. They will collect 120k on behalf of the students when in actual fact the school fees is 55k.

I guess that means the students will pay for the extra 65k the school collected on their behalf much later after graduation.

I support the ministry of education probing the schools. This one is not on NELFUND Sha

Nigeria police no d follow law. Substitutional arrest is illegal and is against the law. You can't arrest a father for a crime committed by his son just because the son cannot be found.

Nigeria police too mumu abeg. I pray that man get justice. They should not only build the house they destroyed, they should pay for other damages too.

This reminds me of what Oyedepo said " If pikin no turn out well ( into crime, drugs and all) na d parents d feel the most pain"
There are two wrong parties :

1. The police who arrested the father in place of the son.

2. The state government that ordered the demolition of the building without any court process affirming such order.

Nigeria na real jungle where powerful animals people use power anyhow
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick:
I think this idea of demolishing properties linked to people who perpetrated crimes like kidnapping, robbery, etc needs to be abloihsed by state governors.

I saw a video of Edo state government demolishing the house of a man. The man who owned the house while being interviewed by the press men said his son actually killed a woman. The son is a 28 year old man who lives in a boys quarter in the man's house.

After the man heard the news of his son killing a woman, he went to the police station to report the crime. The police evacuated the corpse and detained the man. The son who perpetuated the crime was later caught and the father released.

Now the Edo state government went ahead to demolish the house which the man claimed he built with his house. Now the father and his 4 other children are homeless despite the fact that the police now have the culprit in custody.

In what world is it fair to rid the father his property because of the crime his son committed? The man claimed he had taken the son to rehab severally because the son has always been problematic to him.

Many students paid before the NELFUND bill was passed and money was disbursed to the institutions.

In many schools, students cannot do course registration and other documentations without paying their fees.

The institutions should reimburse the students in full.
This is where the issue lies.

Not all schools will refund students in full sum. In fact, most government owned schools are not designed to pay out students, rather their finance system is only designed to receive funds and not pay out.

I remember when I got on the University scholarship program after our 100 level results were out and my CGPA was within the qualifying threshold. The scholarship comes with refund of 100 level school fees and additional sum of money for textbook. The two payments are to come in form of two separate cheques issued to the student by the bursary department of the school.

I got one of the cheques in 200level and got the second one in 1st semester 400level grin

From my experience ehn, I can say Most of the students may not get refund of that school fees before they graduate if care is not taken. There are also chances that some people in the Finance office/bursary department may even run fraud using some of the students' profile to claim their refund without their knowledge.

See eh, that's rarely a smoke without fire. I've come across several student complaints regarding issues with NELFUND disbursements. Some students claim they received the funds after already paying their school fees, but their schools are only reimbursing half of the amount, rather than the full sum.

Others report not receiving the complete school fees from NELFUND at all.

It's deeply unfortunate that allegations of mismanagement and corruption are already emerging around NELFUND, barely a year into its existence. Also the Ministry of Education just said they'll fully investigate the matter, I hope they do so quickly and effectively not just set up panel that won't do anything.
Hmmmmm.

I guess NELFUND has questions to answer as per the screenshot attached in your email. Although I'm curious at to why this student had to pay out of pocket despite knowing he has applied for the student loan.

I actually listened to radio program where the NELFUND guy came and explain the whole process of the student loan.

From what he explained that day, there's absolutely ni way anybody could've diverted any funds. School fees will be paid to the school directly by NELFUND and it will reflect in the students' portal that his tutuon has been paid.

The students' stipends/allowance will be paid directly to his bank account.

So at what point did the fund get diverted as alleged by ICPC?

Most areas in Lagos people.drink pure water including Lekki axis sef cos their water around those areas are neither drinkable or usable for cooking. Only few people can afford to buy CWAY. In fact, how many CWAY person Wan use dey cook daily?

As for supermarkets now charging for polythene bags, I think the idea is to force people to reuse like they do abroad so that we can have less and less of it in circulation.

Government have ban this soft takeaway because it's part of the reason we experience flood.
While ban of takeaway packs and disposable plates may be a step in the right direction, there are a whole lot of other items that block drainaages that are not yet banned. PET bottles of coke and Fanta are still there, nylon of pure water, normal polythene bags for carrying items, etc all block drainaages.

Then we have areas in Lagos where the drainage system there are non existent. U will see houses that have been built since the 60's that don't have functional drainaages.

We have only ever gone to the hospital for general healthcare needs but I believe you're right because when wifey stayed in the VIP ward after the birth of #1, NHIS did not cover for the VIP ward so I had to pay for that out of pocket. This is also a pointer that FG subscribed employees to the most basic package of the HMOs under the NHIS.

Also, the designated NHIS hospital pharmacies stock the cheaper alternatives of drugs, and never the expensive ones. Any drug above 5k like this, dem go tell you say dem no get and you'll have to purchase it outside.

But I still consider it a win to take a child to the hospital, see a consultant pediatrician, run blood tests, be given drugs and pay a 10% cost that may amount to a paltry sum of N500 - N1000. I mean, when wifey dropped #3 last year our total bill amounted to only N1500 due to NHIS/HMO coverage.
You are right , basic Health insurance is still better than not having health insurance coverage at all .

What I do and always others to do (if they have the means) is to have two hospitals they use.

1. Hospital which Ur HMO provides under Ur NHIS/Health Insurance package. You can always take basic Healthcare issues to this hospital with u not paying out of pocket.

2. Hospital which u know and trust to be of much quality which can manage Ur health needs at premium value. For example if ur wife is pregnant and needs both antenatal and delivery services ; u don't want tí subject Ur wife to the hospital haggling with HMO back and forth on whether or not to administer a particular treatment on her or not. All u will care about at that point is the safety of Ur wife and child. Paying out of pocket for this may not be out of place if u have the means.

This is when having Health Insurance aka HMO is beneficial.

Me, wifey and the kids are enrolled in the Federal Government's NHIS (National Health Insurance Scheme) with the Federal Teaching Hospital in the state as our Primary Health Care Provider.

NHIS enrollees pay only 10% out of pocket for consultation, tests, examinations, drugs and some operation procedures

I gather it's totally free for workers in the private sector, and there are HMO's one can enrol with even as a private citizen. Perhaps you should explore that option so you wouldn't have to spend so much on healthcare.
HMO is good but if u have an underlining ailment or major ailment, most HMOs will exclude its treatment from their package which means u may have to pay for its treatment out of pocket . Some of them will put the treatment of such ailment on their most expensive package like platinum .

Others will just put a moratorium on the coverage of underlining ailments like asthma for a certain period . For example they may say asthma is not covered for the first 24 months of the policy I.e u can’t get treated for asthma for the first 2 years u buy the HMO plan .

HMO is mostly good for general healthcare needs like going to the hospital for malaria treatment , going to dentist for scaling and polishing , seeing an ENT once in a while , seeing optician for consultation and treatment , etc .

The corporate plans which companies buy for their staff are in different grades and usually provides more comprehensive coverage . The retail plans on the other hand are more expensive and sometimes they have limitations .

One major issue I have with HMO from experience is at times hospitals won’t give u the necessary and most effective drugs because they have a feeling ur HMO won’t reimburse them adequately for some treatment they administer . There are some tests that hospitals will be seeking approval for hours from HMOs before carrying out on u; when u ask the hospital how much is it ? U will discover the test may not even be more than N7,500 🤦‍♂️.

I wonder if people who are under health insurance in the UK, Canada , Australia and the US fail something similar .

Everything about the oil industry is different, don't forget that the price of oil in the international market can fluctuate anytime which means a fixed price cannot be attainable. The moment government is trying to fix prices for the private investors, one way or the other, subsidies will come into it.

Look at the defunct NEPA and the Discos currently, because NERC which is the regulator of the industry is fixing price for the Discos, the FG had to be paying the differentials in price. The FG currently owe the Discos over 2 Trillion naira. There ar plenty examples of what trying to fix price has caused.

Also the PIA already unbundle the NNPC as a whole and there are 2 regulators for the industry. NUPRC for the upstream sector and NMDPRA for the midstream and downstream sector. I think it was NMDPRA that was having issues with the quality of Dangote fuel then.

NNPLCO is the business aspect of the company and the regulators both NUPRC and NMDPRA are meant to regulate them also as NNPLCO are involved in all three tiers of the industry.
This unbundling of NNPC hasn't achieved much as far as I know. But I will study the PIA sha and I will see if its full implementation will achieve much
