There is an even bigger contradiction in your statement. So the 'top management employees' in the company will be the ones coming out to cast their employer? They will be the one leaking information that puts their company in a poor bargaining position?

That is like dangote employees coming out to say actually our petrol is not 100% pure as claimed.
Lolz 😂

Let me explain to u what I mean. The top management guys who work in these places don't need to come out to say anything, they are friends with people like this guy who came on AriseTv. They drink with them and chatter about things happening in their organization over bottle of beer.

That is the only explanation to why this guy knows the MD of the refinery and some top guys have been around for weeks and running around to put the facade shit-show up.

Also, the casual workers/laborers used are obviously indigenes. That is why this guy can authoritatively tell you they loaded only 6 trucks from morning till night.

Those kind of secret are not well kept in that kind of environment. You won't understand the kind of information some of these guys have access to.

We can focus on multiple things.

You commute daily. Your life would be better if internal roads are very motorable, wouldn't it? And you'd feel safer if the state government actually utilizes the Security Votes they got an injunction barring us from assessing the expenditure, wouldn't you?

You'd feel healthier knowing you don't have to contend with floods because the state government takes drainage seriously, no?

These are the seeming little things. Let the state government do its part. While it is, we can continue taking a dump on the federal government for fuel pump price, federal roads, interest rates, and other issues.

Don't treat two thieves unequally because one robbed a microfinance bank and the other robbed Zenith Bank head office. There are both robbers who should dance to the rhythm of the music.
But Nigerians act like the microfinance robber isn't a threat to saved monies. This is the point.

And it should be people like you and I without party alliances saying it lest it'd be misconstrued as petty partisan-hued criticisms. People like you and I make up for most Nigerians who are unallied politically.
Seeing that you didn't address the true fiscal federalism issue I raised in my last post, I take it that you agree focusing more on FG that takes 52.68% from the federation account is not as bad as you made it seem in your initial post.

I also believe government at all levels should be held accountable for their actions and inactions.

Nobody is under obligation to hold the federal government responsible too, but we do it for public interest.

The point is, for years our search beams have been ultra-focused on the Centre, and it works sometimes causing it to backtrack on some anti-people policies or shelve them all together. Governments at state and other levels should be held accountable too constantly.

It depends on people active online in each state? It'd do a quick analysis you can go vet anywhere.

There are 34 million people in Nigeria active on Facebook on the average monthly. That's more than the entire population of Ghana and about 100 times the total population of Iceland. Active users on Facebook alone!

No Nigerian state has less than 100,000 active monthly Facebook users at the least. At the very least.

Less than 10 percent are directly affiliated with any political party.

We have the numbers even as far-flung as Kebbi to keep each state government on its toes and our criticisms enough to generate interest globally even if 20,000 of the (taking a rough estimate here) 100,000 Facebook users resident in Jigawa hold the state government accountable.

It's about willpower. Ask internet users to vote for some entertainment program or comment on some happy-go-lucky online controversy and you'd realize the Kebbi you think is digitally an island has the estimated numbers online.
Can you read Hausa? If a Jigawa or Gombe man on Facebook write about government policies in his state can you read it? You are not seeing Jigawa related news trending on Facebook and twitter simply because they converse mostly in Hausa and you as a Southerner can't read Hausa Language. That's why it will not trend as much as you would expect.

People focus more on FG because we obviously don't practice true federalism in Nigeria. The federal government takes the major stake of 52.68 per cent from the federation account. And the 36 states with 774 local governments are left with 26.72 per cent and 20.72 per cent respectively.

You will agree with me that the figures justify the Ultra-focus on the center right?

And the point is, majority of our Governors haven't been doing enough but we decided to turn a blind eye to them because of agenda.

Fayose didn't do enough for my state, and he wasn't condemned as expected and he is still having a say in politics and even his brother criticizing the FG now.

Even Okpa only questioned Obi's performance here as Governor in hushed tone, after they attacked his former state Governor. I would be surprised if he didn't vote for the same Obi that failed woefully in infrastructures as Governor, in the last Presidential election.

The point is, we concentrated more on the President and shield the thieving Governors for reasons best known to us.
FG and state governors have not been doing enough. People should question them both.

What do you expect the exchange rate to do when politicians at all levels starched funds away out of the country? This has been happening since 1999 and we saw how Alamiesegha looted his state blind and yet the people were complaining of FG's neglect.

Dele Momodu exposed that a Pdp candidate in the last presidential primary gave each candidate $30k not Naira o. But the foreign exchange's imbroglio is caused by APC and FG. We only see what we want to see.

Taking LGs funds away from the state governors can help in reducing the outflow of funds abroad and to offshore accounts kept by most Governors. Naira should circulate locally but the Governors will prefer to stuff dollars in their babaringas but it's only Tpain inflicting the pain.

Everyone has every right to call out the Governor where he resides. I don't have problem with that, but isn't it ludicrous when a Kogi resident is shouting Tpain when Yahaya Bello was allegedly laundering bllions out of the state unabated.

The Governors who stole the states blind are not questioned and can even be voted for to become a senator, because our agenda must sail through.

Let's start asking our Governors and Chairmen important questions. A Governor's main achievement for 8 years shouldn't be just to attract a brewery to his state and claiming he saved money, when infrastructures were in comatose and doctors went on strike for a year.

You see Governors constructing a flyover that no car passes or building a poultry farm in another state with no chickens on site. They bought cars for young girls every month, while the major roads were in terrible situations, yet the people kept mute since all eyes must be on the president.

Negligible percentage of Nigerians are importers, what is more prevalent is hunger in the land. One of the good moves to counter it, is the autonomy of the local govts. Funds should circulate properly at the local government level, and not take international flight from the state government houses.

But the question is, will people ask their state Governors and local government questions and stop the Tpain and marginalisation mantra?
Nothing you have said here has negated the points I raised. A person can call out FG as well as call out his state government.

I never said majority of Nigerians are importers, I only used importation business as a relatable example. I could've used a trader, I could've used a banker who pays his taxes, I could've used an average business owner, and so on and so forth.

The point is people should be able to question people heading whatever level of government that they feel is not doing enough to better their lot despite them being law abiding citizens who contribute their quota to the society. If FG is wasting money on frivolities people should call them out and no FG apologist should be trying to chide them for doing that.

They will leave the Governors, LG chairmen buying cars, houses for girls and sending them on all-expense paid trips to Dubai, because of agenda and drag the President for even the faeces they can't pass.

I like how the local governments are said to now be in charge of their funds. They are the closest to the people and their performance will be felt positively or negatively. They must be accountable to the people.

Before he leaves the office, Tinubu should ensure the states and LGs are more powerful and make the central less-attractive to those scam-artists that have their eyes on the national cake. With that, Nigerians will gradually understand that the Governors and the LG chairmen are with the knives and their cakes and stop barking the wrong tree.
Well, my opinion on this is that two truths can coexist. A person can criticize his state government and at the same time criticize the FG if he feels he's not getting the best from the two levels of government. I will give a practical example to this.

For example we have a man who is into Importation business resident in Lagos ; he brings in cars via the ports officially, clears his cargo with millions of naira (which a major source of revenue to FG as confirmed by Customs) and sells his cars in a car lot owned by him in Lagos.

Such a man is within his rights to call out FG and or Lagos state government if he believes he's not getting good governance from both levels of government. Why? Here is why :

1. Each time he brings in container load of vehicles he pays customs duty and other associated fees/rates to clear the goods at the port. These millions he pays is source of revenue for the FG and anytime he hears VP residence is renovated with 21 billion naira he has every right to drag FG &to express his dissatisfaction with such actions . Anytime he reads news of the FG appointing 11 different people to do the job of spokesperson/media aide to the presidency, he has every right to be enraged that the government is wasting scarce resources on frivolous things. Nobody should tell him to face his state government when the exchange rate and import duty exchange rate keeps going higher thereby frustrating his business.

2. The moment the man clears his container from Apapa port, he will have trucks transport his cargo to his car lot. On the way the trucks will pay different forms of fees to revenue collectors who collect these fees on behalf of the state government. Even local governments have their own revenue collectors who will "cut ticket" for the truck drivers. All of these are cost to the businessman and revenue to the state government. Now the guy pays land use charge to Lagos state government for the car lot where he sells the cars which is also another revenue to Lagos state government. Even local government will come to his car lot to collect various rates as required by the law. If his business is duly registered by CAC there's a high chance LIRS will call at his place to get what is theirs by law.

After a businessman pays all of these, he is within his right to be enraged when he reads on media that the Lagos state government buys air fresheners and rechargeable fans for ₦3.75billion. Nobody should gaslight him and tell him to go back to his state the moment he raises questions about how any of the state government's frivolous spendings. He should be able to make videos of roads in his areas that needs repairs in his area but continues to suffer neglect despite the humongous IGR of the state. Nobody should be telling him balderdash about having an agenda against the government for political reasons.

These are the issues.

This should be criminal! I read about how he intends to fund it and it's loans with no IGR.

At #1.01 trillion budget for Niger State alone, it's almost the combined 2025 budgets for Cross River, Osun, and Ekiti which are more viable based on the numbers.

Why are we keeping mute on this?
Social media should be on fire. Collective destinies are being mortgaged away.
One thing u should understand is that a governor getting dragged/called out online is a function of the number residents/indigenes of the state with social media presence online. (most especially opposition party members with online presence)

It is the residents/indigenes of those states that usually set the tone for discussion before people of other states will pick interest and join in dragging that particular state government for their actions and inactions. And yes this applies to all states.

When u see people dragging governors of states like Rivers, Lagos, Kano, Akwa Ibom, etc online, it's simply because the residents/indigenes of those states have much online presence compared to other states, the opposition members in those states are active online and always scrutinizing the actions and inactions of the state govrnments. Once they set the tone for discussion, it is then the regular social media user can decide to pick interest in discussing the state.

Even the traditional print media don't focus much on states like Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, etc except it's news bordering on insecurity issues or electoral matters. Nobody is under obligation to start using torchlight to look for Yobe state news, Kwara state news, etc.

I still think Dangote will be in the drivers seat if he plays his cards right.

How much petrol does NNPC have to meet the demands of Nigeria? Even at full capacity NNPC's old refineries put together couldn't meet up to 30% of national demand so Alhaji Putin still has production capacity on his side to match their shenanigan. I'm guessing the reduction of the lifting cost to 970 was to counter the impending 'reactivation' of the PH refinery.

Some marketers are already complaining that the refurbished refinery's cost is higher by about N75.

My own is let the Nigerian consumer sha benefit from all this rogbodiyan.
With the allegations of blending made by Dangote's team, NNPC may have a trick to pull out of their hat as regards the market share they will control o if their price is cheaper than Dangote's.

Another thing is do we actually know what exactly is figure for our local demand? Shebi it's the figures same NNPC churns out we all rely on whether it's accurate or otherwise

At the end of the day, what truly matters is the final consumer getting PMS at a competitive price that reflects local refining.

Yeah, I noticed the different grades of petrol abroad in one video I watched recently.

The bitter truth is that if Dangote goes the way of marketing his PMS as " High Quality PMS" with its price higher than NNPC's blended PMS, Dangote may be out of business in no time.

This is because the average poor Nigerian consumer will jejely buy NNPC's blended PMS and give Dangote's the middle finger.
