Unlimited22: There are some arguments that you should not bother engaging in.
Raumdeuter, airmark and Oasis007 will never not support APC, and they will never understand the present situation of the country because they don't live it every day. Larride does, and even though he's a card-carrying APC member, his opinions are more balanced because e dey feel the heat day by day.
Just don't worry yourself my G. There's no point. Normally I don't worry myself about these things, but sometimes u just can't help it. Especially when u think sometimes in the future some younger people may use some of these viewpoints(if left unchallenged ) as the true state of things when they are not. |

raumdeuter: It is fake news because Ibos were not stopped from voting
There were pockets of violence all over the country and no particular group was targetted
its the same modus everytime when Lagos will destroy properties of every ethnic group but the narrative will be that ibo properties are destroyed
We have a duty to correct fake news and falsehoods
Before you go I have more videos of violence by LP supporters targeting APC supporters in the SE which further dents sod09 claims that you came to defend
In all things lets learn to be fair Lolz. I see what u are trying to do, but it is well. I am not going to litter this place with several media publications on how ethnic-related violence marred the election. Even Yorubas were prevented from voting because their attackers assumed they were Igbo's. It happened not just in one LGA but all over Lagos. U can try to deny it and gaslight as much u want but the evidences abound on the internet. U are free to carry on with ur agenda sha. It is well |

So claiming something was done to Ibo's specifically in the last election is Fable and in the realm of Nigeria vs India

nihilistjnr: Let's not actually forget that the officially recognised Palestinian government were literally chased out of Gaza by Hamas who have no interest in any bloody 2-state solution.
It's pretty obvious to anybody who has a brain exactly what the problem is - we see the same issue pop up whenever a group of people decide they want Sharia government. There is no jewish government in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Lebanon, Borno State, Chibok, Sambissa Forest, Mali etc.
It is the Muslim Sharia governments that will end up picking a fight with whoever has a different interpretation of Sharia. Today Iran is fighting Saudi. In Gaza Hamas are fighting Fateh. In Sambissa Iswap are fighting Boko. In Afghanistan right now, Isis is fighting Taliban. In Syria, Isis were fighting Al Qaeda. In Iran that is literally ruled by a Mullah, Isis still went to suicide bomb a funeral and kill 100s of people this year. Suicide bombers bombing Suicide bombers to death on the regular.
2 state solution is not the cause of the problem. Anything Sharia, Anything Jihad - there can never be peace I really don’t know what makes them think that if they couldn’t defeat a young Israel nation in 1948 with a coalition army of Arab states that they can do that in 2023 with ragtag Hamas . They probably thought hiding behind innocent civilians would save them against the Israeli forces but they obviously didn’t know Netanyahu would not give them that victory of rejoicing over the October 7th carnage . raumdeuter: Hamas does not want a 2 state solution, They know this. What they want is from River to the Sea total wipeout of Israel. Its in their own charter written. So when something is written in their charter how will they claim something else Its when hand begin dey touch them that you will see people start screaming for 2 state solution
When they give them small space they forget 2 state solution and try to wipe out Israel
I was watching the news in 2005 when Ariel Sharon ordered all Israelis out of Gaza, Many Israelis did not forgive him for it
Now what have they done with the Gaza they conceded in 2005? First Hamas assasinated all the Fatah leaders in Gaza and started their own campaigns sending rockets, sending suicide bombers to Israel
Why are the 600k Gazans not taking up arms to fight the 40k Hamas if they do not agree with launching rockets and terrorizing Israelis?
You know Israel allows Gazans to come into Israel and work but some of these workers will strap themselves with bombs, knives, with the aim of killing Israelis
Hamas killed 1400 kidnapped over 200. with promises to continue doing that until it wipes out Israel That’s why I find people making arguments for Palestinians as being intellectually dishonest . They quote a part of history they believe will evoke sympathetic emotions in their target audience . I read “ 90 minutes at Entebee “ as a young boy . Palestine has been at this terrorism business for a long time . If I remember correctly they used to call themselves PFLP and PLO. They’ve been hijacking planes and doing all sorts as far back as then. All of which hey are doing after their progenitors refused a 2-state solution that was offered on a platter . They chose the war path right from inception and now someone in Nigeria is asking for Israel to remove boot from their neck . Unto which levels ? |

Modern day Palestinians and their sympathizers should be cussing their grandfathers in the grave . The 2 state solution they now cry for on a daily basis was on the table as far back as the 1940’s .
Instead the Arab Palestinians kicked against it and went to war in 1948; a war which Israel won while defeating the Arab coalition along with Palestine .

larride: Bros not all land in Epe are reserved for farming activities now. It is govt duty to make sure that the information about designated and gazzete lands are made publicly available through the ministry if land, it is your own duty as a citizen to make sure you are not buying land that has already been gazzete for public use.
The govt has it's own responsibilities and the citizens has their own responsibilities also. The govt will not do the work of the citizens and vice versa.
There is a process to undertake when buying land to make sure you are buying a legit land which will involve land surveyor, a lawyer and the likes, these form part of what you will use to get a CofO of the land. You can't keep absolving the citizens of their own responsibilities and trying to pin it on the govt later. If you want to buy land anywhere you must go to the ministry of land, it's part of the process.
There's a reason why they say there's no ignorance in law. I’m not absolving the citizens of their duty . Look at it this way: The last time Tokunbo Wahab was lamenting the cost they expend in pulling those structures down and at a point he was suggesting maybe it will get to a point when people will be compelled to pay for their any buildings to be pulled down . That is to tell u that they expend significant cost on the demolishing exercise. How much does a 2-minute radio jingle in Yoruba and English cost on radio Lagos ? Don’t u think it is more economical to run those radio jingles to warn the general public against development of land in such locations than spending multiples of that on demolishing exercise ? |

Diaper and sanitary pad manufacturer, Kimberley Clark will soon announce an imminent shutdown of its Ikorodu production facility two years after investing $100 million in Nigeria.
Sources within the company informed Nairametrics that the plant has been producing below capacity from late 2023 into 2024 due to the harsh economic environment within the country.
In 2022, the company inaugurated a $100 million production facility in Ikorodu, Lagos state to restart operations after a similar closure of operations in 2019 following a strategic review of its business.
Kimberly-Clark began operations in Nigeria in 2012 but stopped due to unfavourable economic conditions after five years in 2019 to later restart in 2021.
The company produces Huggies diapers, sanitary pads, Kotex and other hygiene and personal care products. KC is a listed multinational on the New York Stock Exchange with the majority of its shares held by institutional investors like Blackrock Inc., Vanguard Group, Morgan Stanley etc.
The planned closure of operations of Kimberly-Clark from Nigeria and the reasons provided are similar to those of other manufacturers who have exited the country in the past few years.
High production cost, currency depreciation affecting the import of raw materials, and weak purchasing power of the populace.
Last year, another U.S based company in the personal care business Procter and Gamble (P&G) closed production in Nigeria in a similar fashion having invested about $300 million (the single largest non-oil investment by a U.S company in Nigeria) in a production facility in Ibadan.
Similarly, PZ Cussons stated last month that it is evaluating strategic options for its Africa business for which Nigeria is the biggest and thinking of ways to maximise shareholder value. The company has also restarted asset disposal in Nigeria after a halt due to forex liquidity issues.
The baby diaper industry in Nigeria is estimated at $920 million with a CAGR of about 11% between 2024 and 2028 according to Statista. Leaders in the industry include; Pampers produced by P&G, Molfix, and Kimberly-Clark’s Huggies. However, it is a hugely competitive industry with about 15 brands competing for market share.
The planned closure of production in Kimberly-Clark’s facility in Nigeria is a huge blow to the federal government’s drive to attract foreign direct investment into the country and mirrors the challenges faced by players in the real economy.
Furthermore, the closure of operations means that two of the three leaders in the diaper and personal care industry in Nigeria (P&G and Kimberly-Clark) have ended production in the last one year.
Like GSK, P&G transitioned to an import-based business model, if KC tows the same line, it could exacerbate the cost of diapers and sanitary materials for babies and households following significant depreciation of the Naira and further increase the country’s imports at a time when the drive for local production is high. While Dr. Tinubu still dey theatre , another foreign investor exits the market just 3 years after they invested $100m in the country . https://nairametrics.com/2024/05/30/breaking-huggies-maker-kimberly-clark-to-stop-production-three-years-after-investing-100m-in-nigeria/If u read the news with discerning mind , u will notice that the company started production in 2012 , they stopped production in 2019 at the height of Buhari’s govt shege Banza and now they are leaving finally at the height of Dr. Tinubu’s renewed shege promax

larride: I think Jarus mentioned it on Twitter also about a land he wanted to buy in Epe or so.
The truth is that if you get correct surveyor most of these things are not hidden and are available in the ministry of lands. It is still the duty of buyers to beware before buying a land.
Just look at sod09 now, he hears that the land is for agriculture purpose and not residential and he still believe there's room for adjustment. That's how most of these developers, omo onile and land buyers behave, it's not as if they dont know that the land is designated for something else but they either believe the govt might not remember the land or that when the govt comes, adjustment will be made. When demolition starts, we will all start blaming the govt. This is where u people are always getting it wrong . A responsible government actually owes its citizens duty of care . The ministry of urban planning like most ministries gets millions of Naira as budgetary allocations yearly ; those monies re not just meant to be shared by the perm secs , directors and other top staff of the ministry . The ministry can can put up just a minute or two jingle on radio Lagos or LTV warning buyers to beware that lands in places like Epe while legal are actually reserved for farming so anybody buying should know they are expected to farm on those lands and not erect residential buildings . Those kind of public education goes a long way. When u say people need to go to ministries to find out , there’s a chance that u will jam civil servant that will pass the wrong information to u. Do u know that I have a friend who is a surveyor but works for all these real estate companies , he’s been telling me to come and buy land in the same Epe .( I just wave him off telling him that’s not my priority now ) . Imagine the same Epe another surveyor made a video about claiming the lands are meant for agric purpose only . Now if I rely on the advice of my friend who is a surveyor , buy the land and later have issues with govt people will say I didn’t consult a professional. Shebi a surveyor is a professional and expert in Land matters na . No be surveyors full ministry of lands and urban planning ? See ehn, even though the people are expected to do due diligence , we should not act as if government is also not complicit by being tight-lipped about some of these vital issues . |

You don’t need to be a structural engineer to know that most of the buildings in that Isale Eko lack structural integrity . If u go to some of those areas now , u will see old 3-4 stores buildings that are not in good shape but being inhabited . You will even see some buildings being renovated/upgraded . For reasons best known to the government they don’t pull down these buildings . At least I frequented that axis for close to 8 years and not one day did I hear that government came to demolish buildings because of structural integrity . I read the news on front page and I noticed the commissioner for information while confirming the collapse claimed the building had been marked for demolition as not being inhabitable . And that’s the only thing they do, they don’t actually demolish buildings in that axis even when buildings in that axis need the most demolition . I agreed with your assessment of Fashola being better only disagreeing with you about Tinubu's impact on Lagos state long term governance based on the policies and road map he initiated.
My engagement with your post was as an academic exercise not a game of political one up manship so suggesting I'm some 'fanatic' whether you believe me or not is way of the mark.
Whatever my opinions it's left for academics or neutral policy analysts to assess if the points hold any water.

chrisooblog: If you judge strictly based on actual performance that impacted people I can see why you would say PBAT was a below average governor but then again look at the policies and roadmaps that subsequent Lagos governors followed that improved the economic and infrastructural landscape of the state? You might hate his politics but you have to grudgingly accept Tinubu finish work. Lekki FTZ that houses port and Dangote refinery whose brain child was it? He implemented the tax regime as flawed as it is that has enabled the state to embark on projects that rival the FG. Fashola is by far the best administrator however if you're talking about a state governor that laid the policy foundation that has guaranteed the relative wealth of Lagos in comparison to other states then you have to give the man his flowers. All this without prejudice to his current performance as President. OBJ based strictly on economy is Nigeria's best president till date. You Tinubu fanatics will read a post and then interpret it based on ur own bias. The discussion yesterday was about who was our favorite governor and president from 1999 till date. I mentioned Fashola as my preferred option for governor and I gave reasons why I believe he is the best governor not not only in Lagos but in Nigeria till date. At what point did I claim Tinubu was a below average governor ? All I said was that Fashola outperformed Tinubu on all metrics that can be used to measure the performance of a governor from the viewpoint of the people. I mentioned what Fashola administration did in the education and I didn't see anybody dispute it. At least u can see other posters here picked him as their best governor as well. It is only APC people who worship Tinubu that wants to force us to pick Tinubu as the best governor even when fact says otherwise. For the umpteenth time, I am not a politician and care less about any political talks like "Tinubu paved the way"," Tinubu is the forerunner ", etc. I'm all about the governor who brought dividends of democracy closest to the people. If u think Tinubu is the best governor since Nigeria gained independence, good for u! If u also think he's the best senator since the first republic, good for u as well. |
