TravelRe: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by Bluetherapy: 12:56am On Feb 06, 2022
iservwurld:
Good Day Guys,Please I need more clarifications here. My wife is a certified Registered Nurse here in Nigeria. We’re still a young family with a 1year old son. She really wants us to relocate especially as everyone has been advising her about it and I actually want that also. She has booked her date for her IELTS exam which would be coming up next month by God’s Grace, someone also advice that she can apply for a job as a carer in a nursing home or something similar as they don’t require the English test but your qualifications. I like the idea because she’s really overwhelmed by the IELTS exam & really wants to travel. My question now is, Is it possible she can get a carer job from Nigeria? Can you kindly recommend agencies we can apply to for help?
Thank you. I’ll be in the comment sections.
Remember that saying that "good things are worth waiting for".

Coming into the country is not the problem it's how you come. Suppose your wife comes in as a carer, you will have to Pay for visa fees. Then she would have to do those things she's running away from when she gets to the UK to later work as a nurse. Then she has to pay for the whole family again to change visa status.

Coming in as a carer is not worth it when you can come in as a professional. Of course she will be working as a senior carer when before she passes her OSCE, but at least she doesn't have to worry about IELTS or what have you. She transitions straight to a RN when she passes her OSCE.

I personally won't recommend coming in as a carer. CBT is easy to pass and she can take IELTS or OET. If she can pass nursing council exam to become a nurse, then she has what it takes to be a UK registered nurse. She just has to believe in herself. Support her through her nursing journey not carer journey.

In many adverts you see a line that states 'For enquiries, please contact so-and-so at [email address/telephone number]'.
That person is usually someone in the department where the vacancy is and they are involved in the selection process, and contacting them is a good step to get an idea of what the job role entails.

In most interviews, HR only sits in and notes down and ticks responses to the meaningless standard questions ('Can you tell us about a time when you demonstrated leadership or when you handled a situation successfully on your own and provided a good customer service outcome?), etc.
grin meaningless questions indeed. You're really the guy from HR

The NHS is pretty much a checklist process. If you meet all items on the checklist and the points add up, you're good. In situations where internal candidates are also applying, they may have the upper hand since they understand the position from the inside.
Also, having a an informal chat before interviews is strongly encouraged as it helps you make a fair assessment of the job before you attend your interview.
Always request for interview feedback to enable you know what you could have done better.
What sort of questions could be asked during the informal chat? Is this informal chat with the HR or the contact person of the department?

I did something slightly similar. I took a full job, during my last semester meant for internship. I know the employer contacted the home office for guidance, as I got the university to issue a letter saying I had concluded all taught modules and exams ,which the employer then presented to the HO for guidance before giving me the job, then subsequently T2 sponsorship.
You don scam innocent people wey dey give confirm update for this thread embarassed.

@justwise @lexusg430 I need your thoughts.
A friend came to the UK on a Tier 4 visa in September and was randomly applying for some permanent roles to test the water and see how employable he is. Now he’s got a company that has the ability to sponsor him on a T2.
Is it possible to switch visa completely before the 3 months to the end of course rule? If he’s able to combine work and school, can he continue with the masters program while working full time on the Tier 2 visa?

Below is my experience at Qatar airport that may not be seen as a risk but may get you into a watch list. Also, you really do not want to experience it for your own sanity.

Before traveling, we got several advises to go with malaria drugs; that there is no malaria drug in UK and that if the small malaria parasite in our body manifest, no treatment, we will be isolated, so wifey got some sachet of coartem and paracetamol and put them in her handbag.

On getting to immigration at Qatar, I was holding her handbag because she was carrying baby, seeing that she was with a baby, she was allowed to pass without hindrance but I and her bag with me with my own bag was scanned. While her bag with me was being scanned, the scanner sounded an alarm indicating the presence of illicit drugs, see the way these guys focus attention on me, I con be like celebrity. See the way they were making calls, took my passport and ticket, made several documentation, instead of me to be scared or worried, I was like shey na on top Coartem them dey form activity like this?

Then a female officer asked me if I was with any drug, I said no, they cleaned the scanning instrument and scanned everything again but there was no second alarm, so they began to make calls again and I overheard them saying things like "false positive, negative ..." and then they asked me to pack my things and go. My wife was already worried because she was observing from a distance. They still took some of my data and made certain documentations though.

So if you have gotten such advice and plan to go with any drug for any reason, think about it well. For me, I don't think there is any illness that is beyond these guys, so don't bother yourself too much with over preparation.
Lol with your advice on not carrying a malaria drug.
Trust me you don't want to end up in A&E thinking you have malaria. Before covid wahala, you will be delayed for hours and the kind tests they will run on you ehn, you will hate yourself.

Malaria is a tropical sickness here and they need specialist to take care of you. If you really like yourself and don't want the drama that comes with having malaria here bring some with you.

Having malaria drugs on you isn't a crime!

Really appreciate your advice and guidance regarding the issue with my bank. After 4months of dragging, ALL my funds have been returned.

For those trading on UK Binance P2P, trade carefully both with merchants and individuals. A merchant account and some other individual accounts tried to chargeback thousands of funds from my account after 3weeks of selling funds to them on Binance P2P. I think this merchant owns most or all of the other accounts.
Do you mind painting the full picture for us and how you went about solving it? It would really be helpful!

Hi everyone, wonderful job in here, thank you.
Please I need to clarify this....

I planned to apply for the about to be lunched carers and home support workers Visa, but here's my challenge.

I am a single parent (widow) with 2 children who'll be turning 7 and 5 years this year respectively. It is speculated that we can apply with our dependants too.

* I have an option to apply with them at once , or just myself then bring them in later maybe after 6 months... My question is ;

*Since I'll be the only available person to come back and pick them, Are those with work permit allowed to leave the country (Uk) within such period of time?

*Would you advise I apply with them at once , and if we're given Visa, I go at once with them or come back and pick them later?

*Or I apply just for me, then when I land and probably get my foot settled, I apply for them to join me (ofcourse this means I'll have to come back to Naija and pick them)

Thank you in anticipation
Yes you can bring them on the care visa scheme as the scheme allows dependants which your children her.
However, you might want to come in first ti test the waters and settle down before bringing in the kids because childcare isn't small money here as you might have heard. This is because care workers aren't paid much and you might end up paying your whole salary on childcare since you don't have partner.

My advice, make sure to include your kids as dependants in your visa application but don't apply for their visa yet. Then when you get in and understand how things work and have quite a good amount of savings, bring in the kids. This is because from day one of entering this country, you will be paying a lot compared to what you are used to in Nigeria. Getting an apartment is no stroll in the park sis.

babajeje123 one advise I have for you is to pump the brakes a little bit.

Summary: try shelf all plans and focus on saving for PSW visa life. You will be very very frustrated if you don't put your house in order. If you wan catch rat, you go behave like rat. Divert the attention to what your immediate family needs (paying house rent, childchare) not what your external families need.

You're on student visa and I believe you should be focusing on saving for the after studies life. You probably have given her the wrong impression with the fact that you hustled the money and could fund bringing her down from Nigeria and also paying for quarantine hotel.

Try to put other plans on pause and map out how to solidify your stay here. You can start by letting her know that you have put aside the plans on bringing your mum. Then mention everything that needs to be done to solidify your stay in terms of IHS surcharge, PSW visa fees and the likes. Brainstorm together how to go about it in terms of savings because you need to pay those fees to stay back here.

Enlighten her about the finances that comes being an immigrant in the UK. Probably the reality would hit and change her perspective. You might not he able to achieve this if you don't pump the brakes on how much you disburse out (to other family members)except you had prior savings from Nigeria. Don't portray it to her like it's easy to make this £. Encourage her to get a job probably the reality will dawn on her.

You're clearly working over the permitted limit and you should really be careful with that.

Indians nah bandwagon and access to privileged information dey make them seem like Genius.

Someone mentioned a guy solving Java problem without coding Java before! Are you sure he didn't have OOP knowledge from other programming languages? Are you sure he didn't get expo already from senior colleagues?

I happened to have studied with couple of them and I'm yet to meet that genius Indian. Yes they do have access to information and massive support from their community and that's what distinguishes them, plus the excessive competitiveness. Who no go seem like a genius when you know the script or get access to past questions?. Remove the access to privileged information and you will see the true Indian. Don't forget these Indians sef dey hustle student jobs pass some Africans oh while studying.

Last I checked, Indians didn't invent many of the technology we are benefiting from. Just that the younger generations in the western world no get plenty motivation to study to become a Genius.

That's my experience so far and I think as a Nigerians or any nationality, we can always replicate whatever they are doing. It's all about what's motivating you and gives you assurance that what you're studying is worth it.

The reason for the education standards in Nigeria getting poorer by the day isn't farfetched from many things affecting it. At least it wasn't so during the times of our fathers or grandparents. I can count the countless number of times I read with lantern. Abi how will I learn to code like a Genuis when NEPA dey bring light when I suppose dey sleep or data no dey to search the web? Do the vast majority of Indians live in darkness? Them no get access to better internet than Nigeria?

About Nigerians not helping Nigerians abroad. Let's face the fact, we are losing/ have lost our family values thanks to lack of trust and too much juju. How many people mentioning the fact that other Nigerians didn't help them have helped their immediate family members first? So why expect something from a stranger when you can't even help your extended cousins because of one reasons or the others. Yes Nigerians don't help nigerians abroad e dey why. No be same Nigerians dey set their family members or friends up with shady deals and placing cocaine in the luggage of someone that's trying to help them transport it. Or sabotaging people trying to help them.

I am sure we have all heard or know stories of siblings bringing eachother to abroad and things go South through taking eachother businesses and properties? So why are speaking like we lost our values overnight?

All the Nigerians don't help Nigerians gang, if I message you to help me deliver something to my people in Nigeria will you? How many people fit bring that their uncle pikin? No be then we go remember say the man sef no be better person, hin no be Christian, hin no be dis and dat grin. Story and fake promises go dey come. Nah to use sense do everything. Heck, no be this same Nigerian some parents no want success for their pikin?

About speaking phoney. English no be our papa and mama language afterall. Why not speak so that people wey get the language go understand us and avoid speaking twice. If you no try speak in a tone they understand, mah your loss oh. Many people have complained about not understanding foreign colleagues to me. They often have to say yes to them or have to politely ask them to come again. These people no like anything wey go stress them and it doesn't cost anything to pronounce things the right way for once. Instead of pronouncing them with hindi, ijebu, Anambra or Kaduna accent cheesy

In conclusion, let's look inwards and see where we sef no dey perfect and how make changes beginning from our immediate family. Charity begins at home not on Nairaland. If we all truly help our family members I don't think we will be on Nairaland but we know he no dey possible for many things.

Please house, i have an issue. I need your advise

I just got my COS now and trying to apply for VISA, in the guideline i was sent i saw this statement, "Planned travel information: You need to enter your planned arrival date to the UK (This needs to be roughly a week before the start date on the COS unless otherwise stated on your previous email)"

Now my Start date on my COS is 24th of Jan, long before the COS came I plan on doing my registry before leaving on Jan 20th which the date has been fixed already which means if i want to go by this statement, my arrival date should be 1 week before 24th of Jan that is my start date.

Now my question is Can i just pick a tentative date which will be 1 week before the start date or Should i pick a date like 21st of Jan as my arrival date which is 3 days before the start datehuh

Please i will appreciate our responses as this is getting my confused. Thank you
I think it's easier if you first speak with your recruiter about this.

Yes the COS is only for you. But to help you bring your dependent without needing you or your dependent to show POF, they need to tick the Tick to certify maintenance for migrant (and dependants, if applicable) as Y.

Yeah, their pay is good.
According to the contract, I am required to work UK banks and public holidays. I guess that means there is no holiday

BTW,
The manager emailed me few hours ago, telling me to feel free to contact her if I change my mind(of course I didn't tell her the exact reason I withdrew my application).
Yes that is pretty normal. You're a nurse so there's nothing called public holidays for you. In fact you will work either on Christmas or new year. The only thing is that you will get holiday pay for the hours you work (if your employer pays that).

Say if tou work a day shift on a public or bank holiday, you get paid the holiday allowance for that day. If you work night, you only get paid for the hours before the end of that holiday.

It might actually be a good offer that you're ignoring in my opinion. Every care home as far as I know often have a clause of paying them if you leave before 3 years. However most people don't leave except in rear circumstances.

I will advice you have a chat with the manager stating what is giving you cold feet with them. Something in the line of.... while I understand you're out to protect the interest of your company, I feel I am being pinned down with having to pay 10k should I decide on leaving. Not that I plan to, but from my perspective, it is important for me to enjoy where I work and the people I work with without the sense of feeling trapped. I do understand that the norm is for the amount to decrease with the more time I spend with the company. I would be open to discussing this extensively with you to find an alignment for the both of us.

In the end, having this chat wouldn't hurt you since already turned them down. And probably you won't be the first to do so.

It is fairly normal to counter offers here in abroad. Because in the long run, you're both doing eachother a favour. But that naija mentality dey always make us short-change ourselves.
