Nbotee: I had to get a letter of attestation from the NPC 2 weeks ago because I needed to correct an information on my NIN. I found the link and went through the procedure and even made payment online (3k or so) and was supposed to get a mail. Till today I'm still waiting for that mail. Went to their office in Wuse and had to queue to collect a form with the same information on the portal and was directed to a nearby cafe to generate remita and come back to queue and wait.
Na waa oo.. This your experience just caused lots of questions to flood my mind..
So, first of all,, it means that you categorically paid TWO TIMES for the same thing.??
Secondly, are you going request for the refund of the first payment which you earlier made online.??
Thirdly,, did you later collect the letter of attestation from them?? And also,, is the letter in a digitally typed format? Or is it hand-written.??
Again, when you went to the nearby cafe, did you fill the exact online-form again before the payment? Or the office at Wuse generated the code for you with which you went to the Cafe to pay?
(This one is a typical case of Nigeria happening.. Things that should be working automatically are being deliberately messed-up by the dubious officials who are supposed to be handling them)
abdeefggh: There seems to be high concentration of Ejigbo people in Ivory coast especially Abidjan and these people have form great relationship with their host.
Ahead of today's match between Nigeria and Ivory coast, it seems some Ejigbo men are confused about which country to support. This man here is supporting both countries in a unique way
BluntCrazeMan: The National Population Commission (NPC) had launched the online self-service for the registration of birth, attestation of birth, notification of foreign births for children that are not born in Nigeria, and reprinting of already issued certificates.
Thus, people can now by themselves register (or attest to) their own births or that of their children with ease in the comfort of their homes.
Pythagoras001: This is a national security issue. This is the point when someone Citizenship is registered and also get the NIN. Does the NPC has the capacity to ensure compliance at the every hospitals in the country? Can the NPC provides special equipment to each hospital for which they can securely connect to thier backend and do registration? I believe birth registration should be carried out in collaboration with hospitals, NIMC and communities via the LGA for birth not in the hospital LGA officials should collect that information from the community regularly at least weekly.
The day the NIMC and NPC want to do the right things, they know the exact things to do.
Gr8amechi: Almost everything here is rubbish. How long are we going to continue to amend this act? The first thing we ought to do is a forensic review of the last election and the loopholes of the court judgment before any amendments should be considered, that said these are my recommendations.
1. Continous voters register must be maintained and more stringent using NIN, this will eliminate double registration, INEC should review their registers every 5 years to remove diseased people.
2. Harmonise off-cycle elections, and make legislature elections come first. Both state and national assembly elections should be held same day, while executives both president and governorship be held on the same day.
3. Make electronic transmission and collation of results mandatory and failure to do that at the polling unit makes the results null and void also the INEC staff is subject to at least 20 years in prison without an option of fine. The problem we have in our election isn't transmission but the collation of results, most collation of results at the ward and LGA level is where the whole corruption happens, so eliminate manual collation of results at ward and LGA levels and allow only live collation at state levels.
4. There should be no preelection matter litigations after elections, all preelection issues must be resolved before the conduct of the election and the only thing to be litigated after an election should be about the results of the election not about anything relating to preelection or candidacy as all these must be concluded before the election.
However, the best way forward for Nigeria is a new constitution.
It's clear to everyone that the presidential system of government is not working and its too expensive for us, a parliamentary system is best suited for a heterogenous group like us, so I propose strongly and end to this system and immediately adopt a presidential-parliamentary system where the president will be none partisan and elected as an independent candidate and holds ceremonial powers as the symbol of national unity and has the responsibility to dissolve the parliament in event of massive suffering like we are witnessing now.
That third and fourth proposals are still very vague and liable to misinterpretation, misrepresentation, and wrong implementation.
Sheey na INEC.??
They need everything to be clearly written and broken down in the Electoral-Act. They should stop trusting the INEC to know what is needful and do the needful.
Pythagoras001: This should normally be done at the hospital where the child was born an in worst case the local government should get this information from hospitals and community leaders of any new child birth.
Since the registration is now online,, why can't the hospitals serve as online registration agents which can use agents login to register multiple births..
