CBN Opens Portal For Deposit Of Old Naira Notes.
I Just Deposited Old Notes At CBN - LadyTara.
I tried doing the online Registration on the Online CBN Portal, so I can return my cash today (deadline date) (https://crs.cbn.gov.ng/get-started/new)..
I entered everything correctly, including my BVN.
And Then, I Clicked On “Generate Reference No.”, And I Accepted The Conditions Which Popped-Up..
BUT IT RETURNED AN “ERROR REPORT”.. “Failed To Submit Request; Invalid Request Payload”..
I tried several times, and it repeated the same thing. It couldn't generate any reference-number for me.
Intended Solution: I still have to go to the CBN, and explain to them. So that they can give me the form there, so that I can fill the form physically at the CBN Premises. I went to the CBN Office. Meeehhnn..!! The crowd was humongous.. They told us to go back to our various banks (For those that are paying N500,000 and below) So, we all went back to our various banks. And the crowds began building-up again inside the banks.. (I actually had more than N500,000 with me though, but I had to split the money with a friend of mine, who later transfered the money back to me) |

Whenever I think about reorientation and the reformation which the Citizens need to go through in order to start getting things right, especially in our general pattern of thinking, our mentality, the things we consider as priority, our values, and so on,, I usually pity whoever that would become the next president... that is,, if the person really has it inside his mind-of-minds to start getting things done in the right ways throughout and everywhere across the country. |

Even executive orders can be challenged in court. Thanks for this input. |

StrongAlphMale: The guy below you have given you the perfect answer.
The supreme court shouldn't have taken up the case, their efforts is now exercise in vain. In the executive list, monetary policy is there and this means the president's speech and order supercedes the supreme court by far Hhahhahhhaaa.. Exclusive List...!! Ok naa. Thus, anything that is on the exclusive is the sole prerogative of the Presidency,, and no Judiciary or Legislature should tamper with it in any way?? |

abimic: What if Mr. C is answerable to Mr b, what if Mr. C takes orders from Mr. B? So it's not wrong to take Mr b to court since I know whatever I decide for Mr. B would bind on Mr. C. Meaning your analogy here might not stand. You have not convinced me yet. The order for Mr.-C to stay indoors.. Whereas the judgement had not been passed on Mr.-B yet (that is, even if it is assumed that Mr.-C takes orders from Mr.-B) Can Orders from nowhere fall on top of Mr.-C?? |

Upworkwriter007: Guess what? Even the FG and CBN didn't make this defense in court. Do you know why? On this matter, the CBN is executing the POLICY of the federal government. Omo, which kind thing I dey see for Nairaland. I see... Therefore, the Supreme-Court order was for the FG to halt its supposed POLICY,, no matter which Independent Institution is implementing it. Ok. it's very clear now. So,, back to the main topic. Executive Order?? Or Supreme-Court Order.?? Which One Supercedes? |

DeLaRue: If a Landlord serves a quit notice on a father, can the son who lives in the same property insist the notice has nothing to do with him because his name was not mentioned on the notice
A Supreme Court order binds, affects, and must be complied with by all things and persons living, breathing, and existing within the territory of Nigeria. Full stop. No exception.
There is a reason it is called Supreme court Talking about the Independence of the CBN,, The CBN is as Independent as INEC. If you sue the FG based on the things which INEC did, and you didn't include INEC as part of the defendants, then you really didn't sue INEC. Same thing with the CBN. CBN is independent. .. Then,, talking about the Supreme-Court Order.. I think I understand what you're trying to say. BUT THEN,, THERE ARE DIFFERING VIEWS ABOUT THAT HERE ON THIS THREAD..
SO,, I NEED TO BE BETTER CONVINCED.

muykem: Some of you are just trying to imposed your sentimental views on law. You are raising issue of jurisdiction which will be determined by the same Court during hearing of substantial case. This has nothing to do with obeying interim order. There is something here. We all know that the CBN is answerable to the FG, but it is independent of the FG. In the suit filed against the FG by those states, they didn't include the CBN as part of the defendants. Thus, they have absolutely nothing to do with that particular suit in question.. Even though they were part of the main reasons the suit existed in the first place. So, you're saying that the Supreme-Court is very right is issuing orders to them?? Something like,, Mr.-A took Mr.-B to court (say, a high-court) for an issue that concerned them both.. But somehow, the court needed Mr.-C (who never knew anything about the court-case) to stay indoors for one-week, regardless of his personal engagements. If the Court gives such orders to Mr.-C, while the suit between Mr.-A and Mr.-B continued, is the court doing the right thing? Should Mr.-C refute such orders (by maybe, trying to appeal in a higher court)?? |

Ofunaofu: The supreme court brought itself to ridicule by even entertaining the matter in the first place
The CBN as an independent body is in charge of monetary policies, in trying to be clever by half Elrufai and his geng took the FG to the supreme court and excluded the CBN
I know you will come with the answer that the CBN is an agency of the federal government but don't forget that the CBN is an independent body. So what stops Elrufai and his geng from taking CBN to court I understand this line of argument. CBN is answerable to the FG, but it is not a part of the FG. Thus, if the Supreme Court gave orders to the CBN with respect to a case that never had them as any of the respondents, then it became a biigg joke. Thus, if the Supreme Court knew what they were doing, they would have issued orders to the FG to direct the CBN,, rather than issuing direct orders to the CBN that was never a party to the case. |

LadyTara: So this morning I decided to try and deposit my old notes. I went cbn.gov.ng ,filled the cash deposit form ,went to the cafe to print it out and took it to cbn branch . On getting there I met other Nigerians who were already waiting for the cash swap program to commence . After hours of waiting ,some men came out and told people that had already added 200 naira notes to the form they filled online to remove it from the cash they want to deposit as they(cbn branch) just received a circular not to accept 200 naira notes as it was still legal tender.
Note: The form below will be given to you at cbn, while you must have your online print out and photocopy of a valid means of identification. See what I am getting.. How do I proceed.??

AfricanColumbus: If he gives directives during the address, all directives therein are executive orders, carried out with immediate effect. This topic here below, which was on the front-page yesterday, was actually the reason I created this thread here... Because it got me somehow confused. (ADEGBORUWA: BUHARI’S BROADCAST CONTEMPT OF COURT)Part of the thread read: “Under section 235 of the 1999 Constitution, the Supreme Court is the final authority in legal pronouncements in Nigeria.
“Under section 287(1) of the Constitution, the President is statutorily obliged to obey, enforce and give effect to the decision of the Supreme Court.
“Section 287(1) of the 1999 Constitution:
“(1) The decisions of the Supreme court shall be enforced in any part of the Federation by all authorities and persons, and by courts with subordinate jurisdiction to that of the supreme Court.” |

AfricanColumbus: Nothing supercedes a presidential executive order. It can only be revoked by the president himself if it is deemed to be grossly unconstitutional.
Presidential executive orders are final.
For the number 3 question, the executive and judiciary are equal, but the head of the executive (president) supercedes all in the land. Thanks so much for this response to Question-No-3. |
