madapcmod: Kindly show where masquerades are barred from campaigns
Pick up the “Electoral Act 2022”.. Go to Section 92; Subsection-4...
92(4): “Masquerades shall not be employed or used by any political party, aspirant or candidate during political campaigns or for any other political purpose.”
Subsection-7 stated the penalties...
92(7:a-&-b): “A political party, aspirant or candidate that contravenes any of the provisions of this section commits an offence and is liable on conviction— (a) in the case of an aspirant or candidate, to a maximum fine of N1,000,000 or imprisonment for a term of 12 months ; and (b) in the case of a political party, to a fine of N2,000,000 in the first instance, and N1,000,000 for any subsequent offence.
My dear fellow Obidients. Even though we want to make ourselves to believe that “The Spirits Are Also In Support Of Peter Obi”
Please, let us not overdo things.
The Electoral Laws barred masquerades from the campaign grounds.
Please, let us not use our own hands to bring up something that might cost us a lot.
Meanwhile..... This event was not organised by Labour Party. But nevertheless,, let us bear in mind that Masquerades are barred from the campaign process.
DollarBuddy: So there's this cute 20 year-old Yoruba babe who lives with her elder brother, a senior Gynecologist in a government owned hospital in my area. She is so down to earth and very respectful.
To cut the long story short, this Yoruba girl has been entering my eyes like Omo detergent since the year 1241 AD
As I no want to talk too much, or to be seen as a player, I arranged for us to meet at an open space, an eatery. When she showed up, we only had a short chat before I told her straight up, that i want to marry her. If you see as babe shock ba
Anyways, I mean it. I'm 36 and the Yoruba girl would be 21 by next year September. She has agreed that I come to greet her brother. And I'll be doing that pretty soon.
She is just my spec. She is very brilliant and voluptuously curvy. She'll be graduating from the University by next year.
I hate to waste a lady's time, Godwilling as soon as she graduates by September next year, we're tying the knots.
She would be looking at her time, and be asking herself “Why the Rush??”
Gerrard59: You don't have to after all I have exposed your illogical and dishonest thought process to the world. Only someone who is innately dishonest and stoopid will disregard basic facts shown to him to dwell in idealism.
Even when the farmers set up vigilante group to fight bandits, the vigilante were fought and killed by these bandits.
Some other groups gathered together and set up a stronger security, just to keep their farms and bushes safer, they partially succeeded in the fight, but they were termed the evil ones in the society.
So now, You are trying to make a fuss out of this situation,, now tell us.. Do you have any solution in mind??
Since we're all here to learn new things and find solutions together,, maybe you can come up with better ideas on how we can win the battle of the bandits without the involvement of the Government?
It's time we learn from you. And I am all eager to learn.
Gerrard59: All that one na grammar. Nigeria is a distrustful society, and many people have been defrauded in one scheme or the other. Some through their relatives sef. It was here where one woman came claiming to be an onion dealer, lots of Nairlanders invest to the tune of over TWO BILLION NAIRA only for her to elope with the money together with her husband. To date, dem never see am. Also, Nigeria is too divided. If say a group of Igbos do such in say in Kogi (since it is one of those big-for-nothing states), we would begin to hear chants from them (amongst the poorest in Nigeria o) that Igbos are taking over their lands.
Maybe you have not travelled across Nigeria. I have gone through the south east, parts of the south west, north central and the entire south south; all I saw were lands with crops on them. You asked someone to provide stat proving the majority of Nigerians engage in agriculture, a link was provided yet you are saying Nigerians don't farm?
Nna eh, not only are you ignorant, but you are stubborn!
That is a very BIG FAT LIE! THE BIGGEST LIE I HAVE READ THIS MONTH ON nairaland!
During the last days of Jonathan, many people ventured into agriculture, which continued till Buhari's first tenure. Immediately after the 2019 election, his ravaging and demonic brothers went on a rampage, butchering and destroying people and farmlands across the entire country. No part of Nigeria was spared. People complained, but what did the Daura kingpin do? He sent his media aides to say Nigerians should live with the marauding Fulanis. Garba Shehu and Adesina encouraged Nigerians in Benue to live with people who are killing them, and if they don't, they should expect the deaths to continue. That is the acclaimed Food Basket of the Federation o.
If there is one thing I hate is dishonesty. So far, you have shown that not only are you inherently dishonest, but ignorant, stoopid, arrogant, naive and full of sh!t!
Gerrard59: So, if you pitch a business plan to set up your cassava farm to investors, and you are asked how do you tackle the issue of Fulani herdsmen and paying bandits? Your response would be "am I the one supposed to address insecurity challenges in Nigeria"?
I knew it! Just because I did want to get banned, I decided not to say it.
You want it to drop out of me? That some things are far beyond the control of the farmers.? Even when the farmers set up vigilante group, you didn't read what the bandits did to them?
Some groups gathered together and set up a stronger security, just to keep the farms and bushes safer, they were termed the evil ones.
You that is now trying to make a fuss out of this,, do you have any solution in mind??
Since we're all here to learn new things and find solutions together,, maybe you can come up with ideas on how we can win the battle of the bandits without the involvement of the Government?
Gerrard59: Ahhh! Finally! I have realised that you don't have sense. You want Nigerians to generate wealth via agriculture, yet you support subsistence farming? I can bet with this account that you support Agbado and Cassava. Ndito fIFtY million yoots to join the army.
Tensa20, na you cause this thing o. Ordinarily, I don't bother myself with what Nigerians blah about. As you can see, this is the result of sniffing generator fumes for more than 30 years as a human being. E dey affect the cerebrum.
You see.. Every Country has their own methods.
There are communities that call themselves “Agricultural Communities”. They are all into Agriculture without exceptions. They know what works for them, and they ventured into it. They have large community-owned farmlands (the size of many towns put together) and they get these lands cultivated each year (using both manual and mechanised labour input). But their only major problem might be “the market” - that is, poor post-harvest sales. They don't get to sell off all their produce. That one becomes another problem.
But on a Larger Nigeian-Scale, such Agricultural communities that Produce in excess are not many. Thus, Nigeria is in a big deficit of Agricultural Production.
So, ways of seeking solution led me to opening this thread.
When I said in my original post, that there are lands everywhere (apart from the North) which are not cultivated, I meant what I said. The lands must not be vast lands before they can be used for Commercial Agriculture.
And finally, I still maintain that the Nigerian system (even without the bandits and the herdsmen) is not doing enough on its own to encourage the existing farmers, or to even make the Agricultural sector attractive enough for people who would like to venture into it to have enough interest in the sector.
When I said something about mentality, the next thing I said about it was a re-orientation. Money can be pumped into the system, but without the re-orientation, the money will still go down the drain, or get looted as usual.
This particular issue is not a case of 1-plus-1 is equal to 2.. This has much to do with the mentality of both the policy-makers and the people too.
Gerrard59: The ignorant, arrogant and naive OP HAS NOT addressed the Fulani herdsmen destroying people's farmlands and slaughtering innocent people. The unam ikot has not discussed the issue where poor farmers are told to pay 100M to bandits to cultivate their crops. Many posters have mentioned those problems, but the chief clown in cultivation has not addressed it.
Nonsense and ingredients
So, the op is now the person to address the security challenges in Nigeria?
