The senior staff level 7 to 17
The permanent secretary which is consolidated.
Anybody without ND, hnd, bsc etc is employed as a junior staff.
Bsc /hnd employed as senior staff at level 8 step 2. However, bsc in geology will be taken at level 9
B. Engineering with coren certification is taken at 9. Same for accounting with ican.
Masters degree holders are taken at 9, lawyers 10, pharmacists 10, medical officers 12 at entry point.
The federal service commission is saddled with the responsibility of employing all senior staff while different ministries /mdas, with the approval of the commission can employ junior staff.
If you join the service as a junior staff with your ssce even when you possess a higher qualification, may u enter as a clerical officer; you can't bring in the higher certificate again during the course of your work. But you can work for 2 years, get your appointment confirmed, apply for study leave with pay, get approval and go for another ND and then hnd. When you are done, you will be converted from say clerical officer level 4 to admin or information officer, depending on your area of discipline, level 8.
You can then climb to 17 as the zenith.

If you have passion for medicine, why not go for it. If you were to work in Nigeria, a medical doctor is placed above every other area of discipline. Let me break it down. A medical doctor entry point to service is level 12, while an engineer without Coren is level 8. Pharmacist is placed at entry point of 10.
A medical doctor at entry level 12 earns better than a deputy director at level 16.
A pharmacist earn better than an engineer.
Abroad, a medical doctor stands a better chance of gaining entry into western countries and you can google the pay.
A physician after mbbs is addressed as a Dr. while you have to study your as as engineer upto PhD. before you are called a doctor.
Medicine is not graded, I. e it doesn't have class of degree like 1st, 2nd upper or lower etc. once you graduate you're a doctor while you may hit a lower class in engineering if you did not show enough commitment.

You can go to work from your parents house while saving some money. By this you only spend on transportation. If you have your salary increased at the course of your work, then you can move out. 40k is grossly inadequate for you to live alone.

One of the most unreasonable set of people is frsc officials.
In 2017, my director, a level 17 officer and I were heading to the office when we encountered frsc officials who were operating a mobile court. Now the director is one whose car documents are always complete and up to date. So we had no reason to worry meeting them.
Two cars in front of us were flagged down and we had to wait on the cue. Two officers went attending to those cars and we were about to move when an officer from no where jumped to the front of our car and asked that we parked.
My director obeyed and the officer came straight to the passenger's side where I sat and commanded that I move behind.
I asked the reason and he said he is charging us for obstruction of way.
I told him to sit behind if I must join us but he insisted and tried to use force since I refused to stand up.
My director came down from the car and was trying to locate the leader to the team to sort things out, when the officer blocked him and demanded for car keys. This is an elderly man whose rank is equivalent to no1 corpe Marshall. The boy went physical, trying to forcefully collect car keys from this man. I stepped in and took the car keys. While they come at me, the director started recording the incident with his phone.
These officers realising they were being recorded, descended on the old man, wrestling the phone from the man's hand.
They later called in SARS who picked us up and charge us for instigating a mob action against officers.
They later release the director on self recognition and impounded the car.
We sue frsc and when the most senior officer learned that they couldn't erased the video recording, showing their assault on us, he came begging through our lawyer.
It was shocking that our lawyer was the one telling us to resolve issues amicably, how the case could drag for longer than necessary, how the officer could lose his job etc.
At the end of two months, They released the car with an apology through and without taking a dime.

Before you think of planting watermelon ensure that have a sprayer (knapsack)have your pesticide,fungicide,fertilizers both liquid and compound i recommends supergro and urea/npk get your pre-emergence and post emergence herbicides available

A medical officer entry point is level 12 any where. His salary structure conmess is the best any where.
