Any idea of what's could be wrong? |

To those seeing unavailable dates or no appointment date, on what page are you seeing this?
Is it before the page where you insert your gtbank receipt no/MRV no? or after the page? Because right here, I can see available date and fill my details up to the page where I was asked to input my MRV code. |

Wiseoldman: Hello House,
Please whats is the criteria for getting scholarship or tuition waiver from for MSC in MECH in US schools. I am asking to check my chances of getting one, as I feel I might be at a disadvantage due to the fact that I don't have a recent research experience. The MSC is for career movement into more technical roles (Design/Research). But the scholarship or some sort of funding would be required to make this move.
Profile: 1. First Class in Engineering. 2. 5 Year production engineering post uni work experience. 3. GRE (320) 4. TOEFL (108) 5. Recent research experience (This is where i have the concern, I don't have a recent research experience, I have 5 year old published paper though).
Please help with pointers and general advice to help build a solid admission case.
Merci. You wise tru tru. Apply to top schools mehn. Your profile is solid. |

femi312: 1) Within 90 days before the start day on your i20, for example if the start date on your i20 is August 30, you can go to the embassy anytime between June 1 and August 25. 2) No its not, that is a red flag. What matters is good inflow and outflow of cash and not a huge lump sum. 3) Choose one and decline the others except you have plans of transferring to any other schools It is 120 days. |

nathyshollz: Hello. I have been reading transcripts online here for a while and it was very helpful. My story is very long but you could learn something from it. I started my US F1 application around August 2017. I was accepted to study MBA in communications and Public relations at Concordia University Ann Arbor, i filled my DS 160 paid my SEVIS after and booked my appointment at the embassy for January 29 2018, but before my appointment at the embassy I got an email from the school that I have been transferred to Concordia University Wisconsin. So I was sent another I-20 for Concordia University wisconsin. I went for my interview yesterday and my transcript goes thus;
ME: Good morning sir VO: Goodmorning, pass your I-20 and passport ME: Here you go sir VO: Tell me about the study you are going for ME: I'm going to Concordia University Ann Arbor for my MBA in communications and public relations, I will be studying for a period of 28 months, taking 16 courses and a total of 36 credit load. I will be taking courses in management, communications and leadership. Will be doing my thesis and an internship after which I will be returning to my country come July 2020 to assume a managerial role at my current place of work. VO: How did you hear about the school? ME: The school was recommended by my center head, she's an alumni of the institution and I.. VO cuts in VO: What did you study in the university? ME:I studied Psychology from the university of Jos. VO: How many years have you been working? ME: I have been working for a period of 3 years. VO: Did you take any Test? ME: No I didn't, it is written boldly on the schools website that I would not be needing it. VO: Which year did you finish from University of Jos? ME: 2012. VO: who is sponsoring you? ME: My dad. VO: what does he do? ME: He is a business tycoon. He's into oil and gas. VO: I will be approving you visa... but Your SEVIS STATUS Shows INACTIVE. I will be giving you this paper, ( he gave me a white paper like that) and said contact your school to change your status to Active then drop your passport at any of the DHL locations written on the white paper then send us an email with this case ID here. Then he gave me the white paper and passport and I left. I contacted the school and they told me to login in to fmjfee.com and request a modification and enter the new schools I-20. I did and after hours I got a mail that it was granted I was also informed to be patient for 2 business days.
Now this question is for the gurus. How would I know my status has been changed to Active so that I can go ahead and drop my passport, my resumption is February 21 2018. And also how long does it take for passport to be processed when it's dropped at a DHL location. I can be reached on 07060884508, nathyshollz@gmail.com Please help me. I did all the application my self from scratch following the guidelines on nairaland here, I need you people's help ooo. Pls oooo And thanks to akinsola for helping me with mock transcript. You will approved too by Gods grace Congrats man! BTW: Fall or Spring? |

bigfrancis21: I do not see anything wrong with your answers. The US F1 visa interview style has seriously changed this season. It's as if they have changed tactics. Lately I have seen serious/genuine students denied the first time only to reapply and be granted the second time. It may be their new style of differentiating genuine students from non-genuine students, since they know that genuine students who really want to study abroad will reapply the second time whereas the non-genuine ones will give up at first attempt.
Just refire, rebook another date and give it a second try. Thanks, bro. Really appreciate. On the refire, it depends tho. Coz I'm looking at another country. |

biikeys: Down from 43k to 33k is really nothing. Don't let the $10k scholarship fool you-that's what private institutions do. The question should be, can you afford what's left. You don't want to find yourself in a fix. Why don't you look for a public university you can afford, or at least a top private school if going that route. What I actually mean is that I already have the first year fee. Not talking about the scholarship and all. |

Delayed this morning by the lady in window 6
VO: Good morning Me: Good morning ma.
VO: Pass your passport and i-20 VO: Where are you going in the US? Me; UIU in Fayette, Iowa for my Bachelors degree in Information Technology.
VO: Whats your highest qualification? Me: HND in Computer Science
VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: 3 schools. The University of Tulsa, Park University and Upper Iowa University.
VO: What is the cost of this degree? Me: The total cost for 9 months is $43,804, got a scholarship of $10k and the cost is now $33,804(this include tuition, living expenses and all).
VO: Who will be paying? Me: My mum
VO: what do you like about this school? Me: Apart from the fact that the program learning objective focuses more on creation and deployment of projects for her students to stand out in this ever changing world, some of the proffessors in d STEM department av contributed and they are still contributing to open source foundation and open network foundation.. and this is a kind of big deal because I will be learning from professors who eat and breathe tech on a daily. This will make me stand out in (she cuts). (Not done here.. she cuts)
VO: what courses will you be taking? Me: Web systems, human computer interaction, network architecture, intro to programming, advanced programming lang, rational problem solving among others.
VO: What will you be doing with this degree? Me: After the successful completion of my course, I will be coming back to Nigeria to start an IT company that will be deploying viable solutions to problem facing major sectors in Nigeria that can be solved with tech. One of the solutions I will be working on is (she cuts) (Here I want to chat with her like explain.. tell her my plans and all but she cuts me).
VO: Sorry you do not qualify for visa this time. You can reapply.
Where did I go wrong?
I was not stammering, was looking straight into her eyes.., talking boldly n loud, using hand gestures to explain things.. at some point she was nodding.
Before me, a guy was saying em em em to another VO and yet he gave the guy. I thought they said if you stammer or shiver or something.. you will be delayed...
Man.. I give up.. like Im done with US. I will appreciate if she can tell me where I got it wrong instead of telling me sorry and all that shit.
Thanks to @jerrypeacelinks, @messibliss207, @softamy. Y'all tried for the poor boy. I dont think I can reapply again. This visa thing with US is a gamble ish. I cant be dashing Trump and his people my money.
This is a real gamble. |
