The Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative, has said it spent N1.05 billion on the reconstruction of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno state.

The school was burnt down by Boko Haram insurgents during the abduction of 276 schoolgirls in April, 2014.

The Vice Chairman, PICNI, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, who disclosed this to journalists on Friday in Abuja, while giving the 2016-2017 expenditure profile of the committee, noted that the rehabilitation had turned the school into a world class institution of learning.

He explained that the school was redesigned to meet international standards , adding that the reconstruction would be completed in a few months.

“The facilities were totally improved and the school is going to regain its pride of place; The reconstruction was strengthened to include strong walls and fencing,” Tumsah stated.

He said that his committee took the initiative to rehabilitate the school when the state government, which had earlier proposed to reconstruct the school abandoned the idea.

Tumsah also stated that the PICNI paid the school fees of pupils in 43 unity schools amounting to N169.99 million and examination fees totaling N10.68m in the year under review.

He put the committee total spending at N6.15bn out of N7.54bn released by the government, leaving a balance of N1.39bn.

The PICNI boss further disclosed that talks had reached an advanced stage for a partnership with the Bank of Industry and the Seed Council to assist displaced persons in the North-East to start farming and small and medium scale business.

He explained that the agriculture venture would focus on meat and milk production, adding that he had just held a meeting with some states commissioners of agriculture on the initiative.

“We are hopeful that the North-East would bounce back to become the food basket of the nation with these initiatives we are embarking on,” Tumsah stated.

About 30% of what they do is actually manufacturing. I mean sourcing raw materials locally n abroad to produce here. If u have stayed in Nnewi u wouldn't be surprised. A lot of car parts (belts, batteries, brake pads etc) are actually made there. It's just that with our porous trade policies locally made goods never get to compete and our companies here die off.
That's the only reason y innosson could compete far in the recession with others ( imported brands, coupled known brands etc)

What he is simply trying to say is that not all cars have that fuel guage arrow that indicates the direction of the fuel tank cap. The 1999/2000 camry is an example.........so OP for cars that dont have that arrow, how can u tell which side the fuel tank cap is located without having to come down from d car, or asking sm1 to help u check?

What about the direction of the fuel nozzle in the symbol as the OP asserted earlier?

I keep telling people that at the end of it all, Buhari would most likely continue beyond 2019. Some would cuss, some would face reality after we've spoken.

A typical Northerner doesn't care about some of the things we always complain about this Government. To him, it doesn't matter if he sleeps on the floor, it's still Buhari for him. He doesn't even know that Buhari came with a lot of promises that are increasingly looking to be unfulfilled.

Just yesterday, this respected Doctor 'friend' of mine, Doctor Alkali, a lecturer and a staunch critic of President Buhari declared that he will still be voting for him come 2019. The post had close to a thousand comments, and I'm not sure up to to ten commenters said a different thing. Most of them are strong critics of Buhari. But when the chips are down, they'll still go for one of their own.

And the South East region would stay at home like they always do.

Tinubu would never abandon his party for another. Even if it means remaining with Buhari for another four years, so as to await his region's turn.

I am not happy with this Government. I would certainly not be voting for them in 2019. Except thins change quickly. But truth be told, Buhari would still win a second term, if he decides to re-contest.
