Persistence, Determination, Dedication and Perseverance are the long-age secrets to a successful life. Be you an entrepreneur, civil servant or whatever field you found yourself. Thumbs up to the CEO himself. |
donromanus:Okay, thank you. |
I'm short of words. If this has massively affects Dangote, we should have lles to worry about. |
Buhari's lack of economic initiative have killed this country. Smh...God please come to our aid. |
Don't let people deceive you. What works for them might not work for you. So, if you are comfortable with the way you're handling your relationship, go ahead. Don't let others decide for you what you should decide for yourself. Some advice are misleading. Phranex: |
doctorbabs:OP, review your caption. There's an oversight there. |
I have a vague idea of how NYLON business works. I work/stay close to a busy market where the demand for the nylon is higher than the supply just as you had stated. But starting such business with N15,000 like you stated earlier, is one thing I don't think is possible. Following the current exchange rate. One bag of Viva and Legal 2'kg products has been pegged at the price you just mentioned. Meanwhile, I doubt if you can actually make a go ahead with such amount of money. But it's indeed a very lucrative business majority of people undermine. You equally do exceedingly well if you broaden your store/shop and add other different commodities like Ghana Must Go, Trash bag, bread nylon etcetera. |
Good news! Let's hope they follow the due process when discharging their duties. |

The reason why Mark Zuckerberg visited Nigeria is quite obvious. No body who's in Mark's shoes and know how crazy Nigerians crave for stuff like app and software development would not do same. Even it's another big opportunity for big business. Only the smart ones would reap the dividends. |
Money isn't everything. What matters most is the future that lurks ahead. If your work gives you rest of mind, it doesn't mind how much you are being paid. |
Pavore9:We have a very limited space,,,its 14x15ft, the usual Nigerian market stall size. Nonetheless, I will work on that. Thank you. |
lanre2009:CCTV and Installation of COMPUTERIZED POINT OF SALE software. Noted. I have added that to my Next-to-do list. Thank you so much. |
YBNR:It's a retail-base grocery stores. We sell most of our commodities in bits. So it's very hard to recall all what you have sold to some customers. And again, we usually have a massive influx of people. |
Ok, Thank you. This really helped. I will see to what you just said. thesicilian: |
I'm running a chain of uncomputarise grocery stores where the management of the shop is committed in the hands of the stewards. I seldom stay in some of the shops because of my engagements with other businesses, so I hardly stay one place. My major challenge is on how to monitor and stop my workers from stealing from me cos I recently caught two of my boys who saved my money on two different occasions respectively. I don't want to send them parking and at the same time I don't want this to continue. How do I handle this please? |
jaybillionaire:May the Lord forgive you. |
So this is true? The last time I was told what Buhari has in mind, I doubted the person whose informed me. There's sth about this government that is seriously giving me a greater concern. When Goodluck was the president of Nigeria, he empowered all this six geo political zone in Nigeria. But immediately Buhari becomes the president, he channelled most of the major investments to the northern part of the country. |

Making your customers feel important is a tremendous step in building customer loyalty. How do you know what customers want in order to feel important? While each individual is different, there are six definitive ways you can make your customers feel important every time they interact with your business. 1. Know Your Customer's Name Know your customer! If you or your service team regularly meets customers face-to-face, then practice learning and memorizing names. Every time the customer returns to your place of business, they are greeted by name, making them feel like they are royalty. 2. Treat Each Customer as Your Best Customer Customers want to know they are valued by your business. No customer should be an interruption. They are the lifeline of your business and should always be treated as such. Train your service staff to give complete attention to a customer. Let the customer know that their needs are the most important item of business at this very moment. 3.Smile Genuinely Why is it so hard for some service professionals to smile? A dour-faced service professional will accomplish much less than one who is friendly. Be sure that you and your service staff practice giving a smile to every customer. 4. Resolve Issues Immediately If you have a customer with an issue, resolve it immediately. Nothing makes a customer feel valued and important than when you drop everything to solve their problem. Avoid saying, "I'll see what I can do." Sometimes it is necessary to get back to a customer at a later date, but if there is an immediate solution available, do it now. 5. Be Proactive Making customers feel important also means that you anticipate their needs. Do you know that Mrs. Smith likes to have a coffee waiting at her table? That Mr. Jones requires extra legroom? Think ahead of your customers. Know what your returning customers need are and be ready to meet them. Though you may not know all the needs of new customers, try your best to read them and anticipate what they may need. Do not be afraid to ask what else you can do to make them happier. 6. Say "Thank You" Your mother probably taught you this fundamental rule, and it is certainly good advice. Always say "thank you" and use the customer's name whenever possible. By acknowledging that you appreciate their patronage, your customers will know they are valued. Valued customers are your loyal customers. Make the effort to make them feel important. With each positive impact you make on a customer, you will be rewarded - not only with their business, but by referrals and a reputation that precedes you. 7. Add yours. |

Hi guys, this thread is for everyone out there who want to open their own mini superstore or those that have been contemplating on which business to invest their money,.. Do you wish to start-up something similar to supermarket? If your answer is YES to the above questions, read on... If it's NO, you can only read on for the sake of tapping knowledge. I heard that we Africans are pretty lazy at reading, but before you back off, don't forget that it took me nothing less than 30mins to coin this up, so I advise you read it through. It won't cost you more than 5mins to go through them Here we go... Like you, I too am dreaming of opening my own grocery store( a mini superstore). I have thought of some advice to give you, some thoughts I have gone through myself, and what you need to survive. Before you read on, I want to mention that I am NOT giving you specific costs etc, just GUIDANCE. For those who know me in person, I'm Ani Ugochukwu by name. A steward in a retail-base grocery store. I have been in the business for some couple of years.. at such, I have mastered some key principles in running a successful grocery businesses. First off, you have to look at yourself. Question why you want to start your own business, how you think you could succeed in what is now-a-days a very tough job sector, and what will make you different from others. My first advice is quite obvious really - DO YOUR HOMEWORK. I read an article from Brain Sheer (can't remember the exact figure for the life of me..) but something like 80% of all small businesses fail after their first 2 years trading..and the last time I checked, the statistics was right. So don't rush into spending any money until you have thought every single little detail out. Here’s a few starting points to think about; WHERE: Base on experience and the research I've made so far, location is the first thing we consider whenever we talk about opening a supermarket, superstore or hypermarket. It's a very important factor when starting a business - especially a grocery store. You need to know where the nearest competition is, and what makes you stand out from them. What’s the rent? Lowering your costs, not just improves profit directly, but it means you can lower your prices attracting many more customers (indirectly improving your profits too!!). If you’re in a competitive area, you really are going to struggle unless you offer something completely different to everyone else. HOW: So what do you know about retail? I myself have 5 years experience at a leading mini superstore, Emmadav Global Link Limited . I have been a shop filler, a cashier, and a manger. I am highly trained in stock replenishment, customer service, staff management and many more aspects of running a store. WHY: Why are you going to succeed? You’re going to succeed because you are going to put all your efforts, all your focus, attention, and heart into it. That's really the best advice I could ever give you. You can never fail if you want something so very bad. One important factor you must ask yourself if you are near a recently closed store...why do you think it closed down? I've heard many people speak about finding great locations where stores used to be etc . All you need to do is focus on what their NEEDS and WANTS are, mix in a great low price, and you have before you a tremendous potential loyal cash-paying and consistent customers chasing you pant down with their money. One of the greatest tips I've been given by a business wiz is most businesses are sitting on a gold mine of customers - RETURN CUSTOMERS. Return (or lack of) customers make or break a business. Make sure your shop layout is logical, make sure your warm and friendly greetings are constant, and make them feel they have left the store with a great deal (through either pricing deals, or product quality). |
IMHO, talking things out is the only way outta this. Call to tell him how you're feeling about the whole thing. Ex can be very dangerous and can destroy what you've built over the years. |
This has happened to me sometime ago when I was selling provision in a shopping complex...one man walked up to our shop, demanded that he need some bags of rice and some few other household commodities. When I was done packaging his stuffs, he deep hand inside his pocket and brought out some glittering N500 mints/notes. Immediately as I collected the money and put them inside the box where I usually drop all my monies, I now discovered that the whole notes has turned into N5 notes. By the time I discovered it he had drove away and no one can actually tell his way about. The good thing is always to be on a look out for them. They are everywhere, looking for whom to devour. As for the money, you wouldn't have loosed everything if at all you noticed when it was turning into the smaller notes and dropped them on a bare floor when it will touch the soil. |
tempel:That was when things were still in order. |
Nice! You even got it at a fare price... special quality rice like that goes for nothing less than 16K here. |

Op, only a dunce would believe this crap you just spewed..it's true that Trump is one hell of a radical protagonist the history of USA has ever known but it hasn't gotten to the extent of coughing out all manner of gibberish using Nigeria as an example. The reason whyy I don't believe this thread is that trump and every inhabitant member of the US have one set of peculiar intonation which was obviously missing from the premises you just posted above. It would have been nice if you can channel the energy you used to coined up this little trash to sth positive. |
I smell sth fishy here! Let's pray it's not what I presumed will happen that will happen. The northern Christians are gradually rearing their heads for secession and if if they succeed in achieving this single aim, Islamizing Nigeria will be done like a click of the mouse. |
Where's NAPTIB and human right Commission? This kind of act deserves punishment. The perpetrator doesn't deserve to go free. |
this shows how bigoted and dumb u are. Everyone sees light at the end of the tunnel, but you have shut your eyes and intentionally don't want to see anything. You are a real double-idiot. Skumpoop!
