A man has taken to Facebook to share a throwback picture of himself and the current governor of Enugu state, Mr. Ugwuanyi Ifeanyi, popularly known as 'Gburugburu'.


According to Anayo Nwosu who hails from Nnewi, Anambra state, the picture was taken many years ago during their postgraduate days.

Mr Anayo revealed that he was asked by the governor to join him in the picture as they didn’t know what the future had in store for them.

Sharing the throwback picture on Saturday, September 15th, Mr. Anayo wrote;

Here are pictures showing the moment the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, including his backup car, was on involved in an accident yesterday in Abuja.

It was gathered that the governor’s car was already ahead to catch up with an appointment with President Muhammadu Buhari slated for 11am after maneuvering its way out of a gridlock on Jamata Bridge, along the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway.

It was learnt that the accident occurred along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road, Abuja when a motorcycle rammed into the convoy as a result of which five cars in the convoy collided with one another.

It was learnt that the motorcyclist and two drivers in the convoy sustained injuries.

According to reports, the drivers and the injured motorcycle rider were immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.

However, the governor’s Director General, Media and Strategy, Kingsley Fanwo, denied that the governor’s convoy was involved in an accident.

At least one person was killed in a fatal accident two days ago along Benin-Ore road to Lagos. According to reports, the accident occurred after tow two vehicles collided with each other on the highway after one of the vehicles decided to follow one way. 

It was confirmed that one person was killed on the spot and many other passengers badly injured after the crash. 

Earlier this month, an undergraduate student of Abia State University was one of two people who lost their lives in an accident on Benin-Ore Road.

A witness stated that the 'Young Shall Grow' bus left Abia State and was heading to Lagos, when the accident occurred. 

According to him, Uju Josiah and a man whose identity had not yet been ascertained, who was sitting beside her, were the two casualties, while others sustained injuries in the incident.

Rev.Fr.Charles Chukwukelue Ebele, the Parish Priest of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Inoma in Anambra West local government area of Anambra state, is reported to have lost his life yesterday in a boat accident.

It was gathered that the boat the priest was travelling in - capsized in River Niger.

According to a report by Azubike Okwuoto Imoka, an eyewitness revealed that the Rev.Father's friend was in the same boat with him when the incident happened and because he gave his life jacket to his friend, he was helpless when the boat capsized.

The Anambra State Emergency Agency (SEMA), has been notified about the mishap as the officials have said that they are doing everything possible to recover the corpse.

A lady has been arrested in Zambia after she was found in possession of cocaine which she claimed was given to her by a Nigerian based in Malawi. 

The 25-year-old suspect identified as Phanny Zulu, was charged with two counts of trafficking in psychotropic substances, one count of money laundering and another count of being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

According to Zambia Reports, a senior investigations officer from the Drug Enforcement Commission in Chipata, Maxwell Nkonde, narrated how he got a tip from his undercover informant and how a DEC team apprehended Zulu who is jointly charged with her grandmother Hellen Chirwa.

“When we interviewed Phanny Zulu, she told us that she was given the cocaine by a Nigerian called Osi who is based in Malawi to sell on his behalf and that she was on commission. All efforts to locate this man proved futile despite getting hold of his phone numbers,” Nkonde said.

Zulu pleaded guilty to count one and two where she is charged of being in possession of 0.8 grammes of cocaine and 0.6 grammes of cocaine but her grandmother pleaded not guilty.

Chipata Principal Resident Magistrate Jennifer Bwalya jailed Zulu seven weeks in each of the two counts.

Magistrate Bwalya said the counts would run concurrently meaning that he would only run seven weeks with effect of the date of arrest which is July this year.

DEC seized several items from Zulu’s bar and house in Chipata’s Hollywood area.

The matter was adjourned to 17 September 2018 (tomorrow) for cross examination by senior Legal Aid counsel John Phiri.

Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom North-West) who recently dumped the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives' Congress (APC), was beaten by the rain at a rally held yesterday in Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.

The rally was organized in honour of Muhammadu Buhari and to encourage him to continue in office as President beyond 2019, as well as to receive Obong Nsima Ekere, the son of the Senatorial District whose performance has been a source of inspiration and blessing to the entire senatorial district as the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). 

According to reports by Akwa Ibomites who claimed to have attended the rally, the senator and former state governor Akpabio, refused to use an umbrella in the rain as he firmly flaunted his broom at the event. 

It was alleged that senior APC Chieftains said the umbrella is considered a symbol of PDP and as such was not used at the APC event.

An appeal has been made for an 84-year-old woman from Abia state - who is languishing in prison for a crime she allegedly did not commit. According to Abounding Grace Foundation, the old woman who appears frail - was imprisoned for her late son's crime which was not disclosed. 

It was gathered that her son died in prison following a case that involved a wealthy man from Umuahia, Abia state. 

Report has it that the old woman who has been in jail for over 8 years now and counting - is currently suffering due to the poor condition of the prison which is not suitable for her health.

Another appeal was also made for Nigeria’s oldest prisoner, Pa Celestine Egbunuche, who clocked 100 years on August 4th. He marked the special age within the confines of Enugu Maximum Prison.

The centenarian, who hails from Akokwa in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, was condemned to death along with his son, Paul and another relation, now 87.

They were said to have been engaged in a fight over a piece of land and in the process, somebody died. With such fate, Pa Egbunuche has for almost 18 years lived in desolation and hopelessness.

A young man was beaten by three police officers today at a checkpoint in Enugu state. It was gathered that the motorcyclist otherwise known as Okada rider - was on his way for a campaign at Ndeaboh Aninri local government area of the state before he was stopped by some officers at the police checkpoint.

According to reports, he tendered his documents and all his motorcycle papers which were complete. 

When he was about to leave, the police officers allegedly asked him to give them N50, which he said he didn't have as he claimed he didn't have any cash on him.

The officers tried to seize his motorcycle key but he refused.

This earned him some beatings from the officers as they threatened him. He later handed the key to them.

The video of the assault has gone viral online.

A lady has given her reason why she smokes and take pills in order to get high. According to the Borno based lady whose identity is concealed, the heartbreak she gets from her husband who constantly assaults her and is hardly around, is what made her trend such path at the beginning of their marriage.

The attention of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi has been drawn to a publication on page two of the Guardian Newspaper of Wednesday September 12, 2018, in which a police Inspector was caught on camera holding a bottle of beer.

The officer in question has been identified and arrested. He is Inspector Emmanuel Egba, a police motorcycle rider attached to Area 'M' Command, Idimu and NOT Rapid Response Squad (RRS ) as erroneously reported.

When the Inspector was questioned by senior officers, he denied the allegation; stating that he recovered the beer bottle with liquid contents from a driver who was drinking right inside his car in traffic.

He feared that the driver might get himself intoxicated thereby endangering his life and that of other road users.

The case is however being investigated at the Command Provost Section and if his claim is found to be false, appropriate disciplinary action will be meted out to him after an Orderly Room Trial.

There was confusion earlier today in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state after a policeman shot a man's vehicle and damaged it in the process for reportedly dragging the road with a company vehicle..

According to Tasie-Amadi Wenenda who took to Facebook to do a live video immediately after the accident, the company driver ran his car off the road and bashed it twice before the policeman attached to the vehicle, shot at his tyre four times. 

The incident caused a scene in the area as passersby gathered to see what had happened.

As strange as it sounds, i was just run off the road by a company driver and my tire shot at four times by a policeman escorting the car. The driver then went on to ram my car twice.

People have now gathered and their only explanation is that i overtook their car.

Residents of Polobubou (Tsekelewu) community in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North local government area of Delta, have called on the state government to send relief materials to them following the massive floods which ravaged their area. 

According to reports, many homes, crops, livestock and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed due to the flood. 

Academic activities in the community have been halted as school buildings and other structures have been overtaken by the floods. 

This is coming as residents of Aika and Abala-Oshimili, coastal communities in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State, fled the communities following the flood that has submerged their houses. 

It was gathered that farmlands and farm produce have also been destroyed by the flood which started on Monday as the River Niger overflowed its banks.

Fresh report has it the military has allegedly invaded Nnamdi Kanu's community in Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia state. The invasion which is said to be the third time, happened this morning ahead of the September 14 sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)...

A combined team of Navy, Army, Police, Immigration and Civil Defence Corps invaded the community in a show of force in Afaraukwu with military hardware which lasted for hours, as the scared villagers are wondering why security agents are parading intimidatingly at Kanu’s village.

Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), condemned the alleged second invasion of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s community over the weekend.

A statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, described the show of force as ‘another military overreach’ by the Fulani controlled hierarchy of the Nigerian defence establishment.

Powerful said, “This is clear confirmation that the entire east is under siege for no apparent reason other than the need for Fulani caliphate to prove their dominance over the rest of Nigeria. “Isiama Afaraukwu it seems is now the favorite exercise range of the Nigerian military. What this confirms is that Nnamdi Kanu is the one person the Fulani caliphate is most terrified of.

“It is a shame the corrupt political class, blinded by their own selfishness and petty jealousy cannot see it.“We are alerting the world that this blatant provocation is one of the many reasons why we have called for a nationwide strike on the 14th of September 2018 to protest this Arewa Islamic military occupation of Biafraland.

“Biafrans are peaceful people but this unfortunate invasion of our villages and the home of our leader in this 2018 may result in unintended consequences. “Innocent Biafrans abducted and murdered in cold blood during September 2017 Operation Python Dance is yet to be buried and here we are in 2018 suffering the same fate.

“The very quiet Afaraukwu Ibeku community in Umuahia, Abia State now has more military presence and activity than Sambisa forest.“We are still wondering why this Buhari regime would not allow Biafrans to bury those they murdered last year during their Operation PYTHON DANCE 2.

Some suspected cult members have killed a young man after attacking him in Rivers state. The incident was said to have happened in Egbeda community in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday.

The victim was alleged to be a member of the Icelanders cult group notorious for killing and beheading victims in the area. He was gruesomely killed by yet-to-be identified attackers and his corpse dumped in a bush.

Just last week, some cult members have killed a 90-year-old man after setting his house ablaze.

The victim, who was identified as Assor Woke, was killed in his house by the assailants.

Sources said the incident  caused panic in the community as indigenes could not ascertain the reason the old man was killed.

Just when you thought you've seen it all. A giant rat and cock were involved in a deadly fight as residents gathered in their numbers to watch in shock. The incident happened last two weeks in Okoba neighbourhood in Awo-Ekiti. 

According to Mercy Dabs communications, eyewitnesses revealed that they pursued the rat twice but still came back to the spot to resume the fight.

An elderly man from the neighborhood who witnessed the fight said, “It was not an attack on the cock, it was two fighting, both of them were actively involved. We were surprised at seeing the two different types of animal fighting this morning. What drew our attention to them in the first place was that giant rats do not come out in the daytime. It was already around 7.15am. In fact, when it is seen in the daytime, it has spiritual interpretation—it mostly signifies evil.

“The youths wanted to kill it the first time, but it escaped. We were not even expecting it back. But it came back shortly and they made effort again to capture it, but still narrowly escaped the second time. People gathered in surprise to see the giant rat come back to resume fight with the same cock”

According to them, the cock fought earnestly but it eventually lost its life to the fight that lasted for about 25 minutes in the neighborhood.

Having seen that it has killed the cock, the spectators descended on the strange rat and killed it too.
