felixomor: Obviously
Where did u see "deserve" in my comment? I hope English is not also an issue o ?
Please go and read your Bible very well A part says "Jesus couldnt perform many miracles in his hometown because of their unbelief" Read!
I am not supporting any pastor here If u can read What I find foolish is the way some people use shallow knowledge (a graphics banner in this case) to make judgement. You dont even know if Cobhams honoured the invitation to start with.
My sister, there is plenty empty assumptions here. Its called argument from ignorance. Please show me the bible passage that says that Jesus couldnt perform miracles in his hometown. HMMM! As for the rest of your comments, we all know the staged miracles that are done in this church. Ayefele (a crippled musician) performs in many of these churches. The guy still dey crippled. As for Cobhams, is he not a christian? No pastor has invited him for healing, yet they can invite him to perform. Think about that. |

Babacele: Man overcomes unfriendly elements either in d air ,earth ,water or any environment to create him a better society and also created trade routes. He has one power more potent than the strongest H bomb in the world: the power of his mind. So what is wrong with our collective mind in SSA? Hold up! 4 decades ago, UAE/Dubai was a desert with nothing. China was also nothing. Were they inferior to the white man who had industrialization centuries ago? China and UAE were not enslaved by Europeans. Africans were. Europeans had access to Asia and Middle east. Trade routes. Africa is in a corner- only close to Europe. |

Please simple questions you may want to answer, Did Jesus heal everybody ? Did Paul heal everybody? Did Peter heal everybody?
Sometimes I wonder what logic u guys use. Anyways, i am not surprised. Na so. So your argument is that not everyone deserves to be healed abi? So much for unconditional love. Did you read that Jesus rejected people that needed healing in the bible? Guy, just admit that these pastors are fake miracle workers |

Christianity Etc › When Your Faith Is Not Strong Enough! by Born2Freak(op): 8:12am On May 19, 2017 |
Yesterday, I was in a bus on oshodi express. I was jejely enjoying my bus ride speeding down on the expressway until a guy stood up and started preaching.
One could almost feel the annoyance from everybody as soon as the guy started preaching. The guy was unstoppable and he continued preaching about having faith in the lord or some other nonsense like that.
Then all of a sudden, the bus started making funny noises and the bus began to swerve. Everybody in the bus was scared and we were shouting at the driver to drive well. We almost hit another bus but fortunately we avoided it and stopped on the side of the road.
The foolish bus preacher was no where to be found. The guy had already jumped out of the window as soon as the bus stopped, and in the process of jumping out of the window, he stepped on a woman. This is a guy that was talking about strong faith in the lord- he didnt stop and pray, he ran like a coward. Come and see the abuse that he got from other passengeers.
What even sweetened the whole issue was that he wanted to enter the bus and collect his change. The passengers shouted him down. We all came down and the bus driver drove slowly to a nearby mechanic.

I run my own business and help other start theirs and give free counselling whenever I can. And I have lots of projects laid down. Just waiting to raise enough capital to get started
We already do that on the "Thinkers' Lodge" whatsapp group. I have dropped details somewhere in this thread already
I am active on Facebook although my business, I manage a website, doesn't give me much time but I do have quite a number of foreign atheists as friends. Bill Flavell comes to mind
Hahaha. I remember once during one show on 93.7 with Stephen with the ph, he said something about "what would god do?" when someone was talking about her cheating spouse and I called and said, "why will you use god as an example knowing fully well that he murdered and killed lots of people in the bible" also stating that god is not the right role model to use for such a situation unless he was expecting the woman to burn up her cheating husband since god created hell to burn people who didn't love him. ANd so on and so forth. Lol
Was interesting though
True. I always try to help whenever I can. Nothing feels better than helping someone without expecting anything in return this is good to know. Please don't forget to try to be a bit anonymous (seeing that you are active on facebook with your business). I have learnt the hard way that some nigerians are ready to pull others down |

Christianity Etc › 5 Constructive Things Atheists Should Be Doing With Their Lives by Born2Freak(op): 7:15am On May 18, 2017 |
It is easy to criticize religion and defeat religious arguments but it is another thing to create a change. Our country Nigeria needs change. Talking on nairaland is one thing but making progress in real life is another.
1) Self-improvement and leading by examples. There is no better way to show people your core beliefs other than leading by example. If you are successful and hardworking, people will emulate you. No one listens to a poor preacher. No one cares if you're an atheist in Nigeria if you're successful. When Mark Zuckerberg came to Nigeria, no one cared that he once put "atheist" as his belief on facebook- Nigerians just wanted to talk and take selfies with him.
2) Networking with other atheists I have met some other atheists off nairaland and I am glad that I did. Not only do you get to make friends that are on your side, there are business opportunities as well. Also, marriage opportunities, if you are looking for a partner with similar beliefs.
3) Joining foreign (European and American) Humanist/skeptic/atheist groups One has to think globally nowadays. I hosted a german guy in Nigeria during last christmas. We met on a humanist forum and he was coming to Nigeria but didnt have much contacts in Nigeria. And now, i have a friend to visit anytime i'm in Germany. It is important to make global connections because you never know where life can take you. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT ADVOCATING FOR YAHOO MAGA 419. Although foreign currency is powerful nowadays.
4) Getting your views out on other Nigerian media I once heard someone criticising religion on 96.9 cool FM when listening to the radio. The guy called cool FM and blasted Nigerian pastors as he was angry that a woman died because she went to a church instead of a hospital. The guy caller stated that he does not follow any religion and also blasted the radio host for trying to mock his disbelief. Now, thousands of Nigerians would have heard the guy's complaint on the radio and agree with his logic. You never know who is listening to you. Radio and twitter are great mediums in which one can be protected by anonymity and still reach millions of people.
5) Engaging in NGOs and charities. Last year, I joined a charity that was working with village children and giving them some education. I got to advice the older youths about watching out for themselves and protecting themselves from slave labour, STDs and superstitious nonsense. One can make little changes in people's lives through charities. |

Even the comments showcase Africans foolishness.
So sad. If you think your race is intellectually inferior to the white man, please kindly take yourself and your family to the jungle and live with monkeys.
As for the rest of us that accept the fact that we blacks/Africans are as intelligent as other races if not for religion and environmental factors, we will continue to progress.
FYI. At my university, the highest scoring first class students have consistently been africans. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Are Sub-saharan Africans Intellectually Inferior To Other Races? by Born2Freak(f): 7:36am On May 17, 2017 |
TheEminentLaity: I agree with you, howbeit the current system of the world leaves such comfortable people as the most vulnerable and trust we would be the easiest to conquer, sadly again. I'm certainly not saying we are not capable but we are currently not showing any signs of being capable going by what is encouraged and met with outrage within our soceity. We do not see education as important. We are still very comfortable, worse still we are the most religious, substituting reality with superstition. So it begs to ask the question the OP asked because what is clearly common sense to others seems like advanced calculus to us. We have the potential but the environment does not support it. Do you know that there are many Nigerian scientists in the USA? We have Nigerians in NASA and many tech companies in the USA. The problem that we are facing right now is bad leadership. As long as we have religious, half baked, starved masses- they will always vote in useless leaders |
Christianity Etc › Re: Are Sub-saharan Africans Intellectually Inferior To Other Races? by Born2Freak(f): 9:32pm On May 16, 2017 |
TheEminentLaity: I think some people are being very emotional about this. Talking about self-hate and inanities. I love my tribe and my people. I speak my dialect language fluently and I say it isn't as sophisticated as English. You can be more articulate in expression with English than you can ever be with my dialect. I think it's rather insecurity that views objectivity as inferiority. And yes, language is a good indicator of sophistication of a people.
By observation alone, sub-saharan Africa has persistently shown inability to govern themselves. In port harcourt, people drive on other lanes until they are caught by soldiers and whipped. Even highly educated people. Sub-saharan africans have persistently failed to create a functioning soceity. Let's look at Liberia, for example, they were independent since way back and freed slaves settled over there and became the new slave masters and perpetrators of oppresion and discrimination against their own kind. What sort of intelligence would not see how ridiculous that is? Compare this with the new nation of Israel after the holocaust.
Step out from your black skin and observe and write a report about humans like an alien maybe then the topic would be more conceivable. There are always outliers below and above the trend on any race so this is simply talking about averages. If our average intelligence is as high as say Japan, certainly we would have at least good hospitals.
Maybe it is not in the genes, but something has to give. Genetic fingerprinting have shown that we are different. (I'd post the link) I am not caucasian, neither is the oriental an african. It could only be theory, but it makes sense if human life started in Africa then migration led to skills for survival and sadly domination of those that remained.
Ants are one the most sophisticated in terms of organisation, human organisation pales in comparison but that doesn't mean ants are better than humans or humans are inferior to ants.
This is very sensitive because of what powerful people have tried to do with such information but shouldn't this make us more serious with ourselves and existence? Also consider that Africans carry first class in European and American universities. The issue is environment. Blacks were the last race to be enslaved. Necessity is the mother of all inventions. What did the ancient black man lack? He had good weather, fertile land, big booty women, fruits, rivers and spices. The ancient white man had snow and therefore needed thick houses with proper insulation and fire place. A black man only needed a hut. The white man had 4 seasons to contend with when planting. There is also the issue of trade. Europe is linked both with the middle East and Asia. While Africa is in a corner to the side of the middle East. Trade brings culture and civilization. So you see, environment matters. |

OtemAtum: Inter-religious marriage is not supposed to be something impossible. But if the religious are making it impossible for the unbelievers, it isn't a bad thing for the unbelievers to open dating social websites for themselves, find a partner from their and then get married to one another. Until then, unbelievers will continue to be rejected by believing girlfriends and fiance. Word |
