Pls mothers giving super apeti, cypri gold, cypron.....syrups to babies shd think twice. Those drugs are bad enough for adults not to talk of babies! A chubby baby doesn't mean a healthy baby, being healthy is the most important.

I saw a big baby one time, at the health centre. Chubby kid...! But unknown to you, this baby had not taken 1 single vaccination shot...not 1....not even OPV drops. Now a mother somewhere will see that one and start self-medicating her kid, thinking chubby equals healthy.

Your body didnt automatically darken in 6 weeks. It was months and months of darkening. Give it time.

My LO was also given those drugs. The multivitamin is to help ur LO's immunity and antibiotics is to help fight infections. But the antibiotics shld be administered for only 7days or so. Ask ur doc to b extra sure. But it's normal that ur LO is given those drugs tho

Its good to finally port to this thread, my baby is 5days old and finally getting a grab of so many things i've read here. I was given multivitamins and ampicillin drops for my baby but i'm confused on why she will need it cos there was no complains about her didnt check the drugs b4 we left the hospital and cant go back to the hospital for now. Pls i jst want to know if anybody has had to use the drugs on a newborn and under what circumstances.

Are you sure the antibiotic isnt for you?

Everyone knows you dont give antibiotics when it is noy needed. Does your child have an infection? No. So why the antibiotic? Pls dont scatter your baby's natural process of building immunity. Antibiotics are not so good in ppl with infection, talkless of people with no onfection. Antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria, e no dey look face. That is why women are advised to take natural yoghurt after fighting a toilet infection etc, cos the antibiotic would have killed the good bacteria, making them more susceptible to a stronger infection. So for a newborn who needs all the good bacteria he/she can get, an antibiotic is not a good idea...except he/she has an infection the body cannot fight....of ehich,tests would have been done.

Pls go back to the hospital or call your doctor. Ask why the antibiotic was given. Antibiotic is not paracetamol or abidec. Besides, majority of the antibiotics we have are for babies older than 3months. It is a cost-benefit ratio that pushes doctors to preacribe antibiotics in babies younger than 3 months. So how a doctor would randomly give an antibiotic, beats me.

Normally, the problem is the other way round...i.e Mothers needing advice on how to get their LO to sleep at night. Your baby might just not be much of a sleeper and would rather be active.

Yea prepared for d sockets way before now. Will narrow it down to essentials : steam iron, Electric kettle and Sandwich toaster. Irrespective will still need to buy the adaptors cos of phones and laptop.

Thanks for d info. Just noticed that most brits migrated with gadgets, so thought in dat line as almost all accommodation I've seen in my selected area come empty, with the exception of a gas cooker and dishwasher.
As for jumper et al, placed an order for a jacket for my kid, winter shoes for my kid, a comfy travel shoe for my spouse and Australian style adaptors on eBay as far back as March. As of date only received the shoes. The rest na voice mail. No thanks to Naija postal service. And to think that the shops resent the items and still not here is shameful.

The oil and pasta are fine, but they might have an issue with the noodles and maggi crayfish, cos of the animal products content......but you can try though...cos the indomie noodles they have here is not so yummy jor.

Regarding gadgets...I would advise you drop them. You might end up getting a furnished apartment (which is advisable), and wont need all those gadgets, cos the house would come with them. If you really have excess space, I would advise you bring foodstuff instead of gadgets.

Another thing you can do is grind the maggi crayfish into powder, and just declare as seasoning. I brought Knorr ordinary and it was allowed. you can also empty the indomie seasoning into a bowl, and just declare as seasoning. Then remove all the noodles from the pack.

I hope you have bought a jumper or a pull over. Victoria is very cold at the moment...single digits cold. It was 8 degrees here in Qld this morning...and that's in sunny Qld o.

He might be lactose intolerant. Stop all milk and milk products....and give him beans as his major source of protein.

@tchiwinnie n other mamas dat experienced dis pls come to my rescue oo, my LO is having Earache i noticed it yesterday morning when she touched her ear n started crying, even when i tried touching she wont allow me, (no discharge) last night she couldnt sleep, i took her to see a doc this morning, after checking d ear he gave us malaria drugs( Lonart despersable, locinnant or so n a cough syrub) meanwhile we treated malaria just two weeks ago n she was given injection for three days( Arthemeter pls dont mind d spelling) n drugs( fansidar n dis same Locinnant, wit vit c n paracetamol) n we just completed d drugs on friday. pls can i still give her d malaria drugs again? n for the ear pain will dis same drugs stop it? she has cough n running nose for more than three weeks now, she no longer eat well like she use to for more than three weeks. sorry for d long torri, plss i make una help us oooo

I'm almost certain it is an ear infection (Otitis Media)....especially as you mentioned she has had a cough and running nose. There is no discharge because the membrane hasnt burst yet....and that is why the pain is so bad, as the built up puss puts pressure on the rar canal.

Get her to see a pead...he/she will most likely prescribe Zinnat. They should also do an ear swab. Ensure you store the Zinnat well in a fridge. If you notice a discharge, block her ears while bathing her for at least 2 weeks.

@ Megilicious, the first pregnancy sign I noticed was headache before nausea set in. I had the same symptom with my first. Just do an home pregnancy test and be sure. Not trying to scare you though.

You are loosing weight, and you are complaining lol....person wey get head no get cap.

Breastfeeding makes you lose weight....especially if you eat healthy and not plenty. The body uses 500 calories a day in manufacturing BM...and that is excluding the 2,500 - 3,500 calories the average-sized human uses. Add that together, and you have a recipe for weight loss.

If you gave him paracetamol, of course he will sleep. Just relax, he will be fine. Better he sleeps through the pain, than stay awake crying in pain.

It will stop, dont worry. Just continue breastfeeding and bearing the pain. Some ppl also recommend nipple cream. I didn't use any cream though, it just stopped on its own.

Abeg oh Sabi mama's gud dy 2 u. Pls I gav birth 30th April, normal delivery. den discharged d blood 4 abt 4wks or evn b4 DAT, den it stopped. He could be lactose intolerant. I would stay of milk for now. Let him eat a lot of beans, he can get the much needed protein from it. Also, buy him a multivitamin to make up for the nutrients he isn't getting because of the lack of milk intake.

@Iamdec I'm in your position and my baby is about 16 days. I feel engorged once in a while but my milk didn't come out on time and they kept pushing formula on me. I pumped like mad, took herbs but my main issue is eating well and no stress (the madam of inflicting stress on me is here to do "omugwo" and she keeps insisting on formula and now my baby hasn't pooed in 3 days and she's vexing because I said she should leave us be).

I've heard from so many people that pumping isn't a good indicator of how much, the day I bf-ed my baby for 45 mins and hey weighed her, she gained an ounce but I had never been able to pump upto that in one sitting. Now I'm pumping 2 ounces but still want to do more. I'm so exhausted and I just wish I had better support.

baby cries and wails hourly on BM so I did formula and she still wept. I feed her on demand because I'm trying to push up my volume of milk. She's been responding well to my methods before and gained back her birth weight and then some, so let's see how more BM and less formula goes at the next weigh-in.

Just keep pumping everyday. The first day I pumped, I could only get about 2oz. By the time I did it for about a week, I was already getting 4/5oz....and it increased frpm there on.

The super appetite plus am talking about is syrup. My baby started taking it when he was 6 month + and he takes 2.5 ml twice a day, I later reduced it to 2. 5 once a day when he started eating like there is no tomorrow.

Did a doctor prescribe it to you? Giving appetite stimulants at a young age is not exactly a good move. I've begged up to 3 doctors to give my 22mth old son an appetite stimulant, dem no gree. All thry advised is multivitamin...shikena.

If she was taking Aptamil before, and there was no reaction, then it obviously can't be Aptamil causing this issue.

Did you make any other feeding or drink changes?

Ericktack, what i see on SA CSOL is CS Manager 149212 and Call or Contact [b]Manager [/b]149211. Also does a degree in Biology (a different field) not matter?

As per VETASSESS requirements, if she does not have a relevant degree, I think she needs about 3yrs experience. The position title does not matter, as long as the job description fita at least 80%.

Yes, you can sponsor her under the 489 FS, but her occupation will need to be on the CSOL.

The possibility of she getting an employer sponsor her is low. 457 visas dont come easy.

Why can't she just apply for PR straight up? SA sponsors customer service I think.
